  1. '00 RM80 - Water all over inside the engine

Thanks for that advice. I'll start that process tonight.
  2. '00 RM80 - Water all over inside the engine

What type of oil should I run in it? 2 cycle or 80/90w gear oil? I've got the clutch and gears pretty much taken care of, so my main concern at this point is inside the black hole of the crank and connecting rod. My guess was to spray it down with WD40, then dump a little 2 cycle oil in there...
  3. '00 RM80 - Water all over inside the engine

My wife got a used RM80 and the third run out on it it started bogging out. I let it cool off and I checked the radiator...empty. I filled it up and got it running. It ran good for about 10 minutes and then repeat issue. We decided to put it away and bring it home. I filled the radiator...
  4. What Silencer Should I Get?

Deleted... I was going to give you a Power Core II from my 98, but someone must of thought it was trashed and tossed it...just great!
  5. Help ME!!!!!

I had the same problem with my wife's RM. I really went at it with a big rubber mallet while my buddy turned the wrench on the axle. The combination of hitting and wrenching it broke it free. It turned out that the spacer inside the hub was corroded to the axle. Definitely be careful of...
  6. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

It turned out to be the stator. Last week I hooked a volt meter to the wires coming out of the stator and kicked it over...nothing. I ordered a replacement from Rickey Stator, got it hooked up last night, and now I have spark!
  7. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

I know what you mean. I work in the IT field and I've seen laptops get drinks dumped on them and they stop working. We clean them all off and they work fine. I ordered a new stator from Ricky Stator, and a used coil on ****. I think that's going to take care of it. I also gave in and...
  8. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

I have a service manual with the resistance chart for all the connections, but I'm not getting solid readings. I'm beginning to think I don't know how to use an ohmmeter. I took the red and black probes from the meter and connected them to the wires the manual calls for. I'm not getting...
  9. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

I just ordered a flywheel puller to see what's going on with the stator. Does anyone know an easy way to test a stator? It does look like some corrosion is happening inside the ignition (stator, etc). Maybe water did get in there. I don't have anything to drag start it with, but I will...
  10. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

I want to burn this motorcycle. I replaced the plug wire and cap..no difference. I'm basically back to the beginning. Am I stuck with buying every $300 electrical part for this thing? What other tests can I do? I' ll try drying out the electrical to see if that helps. CDI - $300...
  11. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

Yeah, it's funny these damn bikes. I just tested out every part with an Ohmmeter. The coil had the proper resistance, but I was getting no reading from the plug cap...however the plug wire had resistance. So I'm thinking it needs a new cap. I continued to test everything else while I had...
  12. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

I'm getting a family member to bring the meter tomorrow, so I'll hit the plug cap and wire. I did fail to mention that I removed the kill switch, and still no spark. I also dismantled the kill switch to make sure nothing was touching, and it was good. I'm beginning to think the coil got...
  13. 1998 RM125 - No spark today...perfect yesterday

I had the bike out yesterday for the first time in 6 months. It ran great all day through an entire tank of gas. Got it home and washed it down with soap and water. Today it wouldn't start, so I pulled the plug and discovered there wasn't any spark. I checked the kill switch and all the...
  14. 05 YZ125 - Snapped powervalve, anybody else?

That SAME EXACT thing happened in my RM. Cost me a new piston kit and valve. Unfortunately the valve came into the cylinder a tiny bit and the piston hit it. But my valve looked exactly like yours.
  15. Type of riding kills plugs? - RM125

Thanks Sunnyboy. I'll give that one a shot once I get this bike back on the trail. I was hoping to get it out this weekend but I discovered the suspension linkage is trashed...waiting for parts.
