Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts guys/gals. The knee is slowly getting better (I'm in therapy now). I even rode my street bike to get some fresh gas in it today. I could only put my heal on the right side footpeg though (can't bend much beyond 90 degrees).
My Father's condition...
I have ridden moonrocks HEAVILY for 6 years. Even with the temps we have currently the north side of large whoops will have anywhere from 6-12" of snow. I am sorry that the news is not better. The temps are heading to the low 50's (49 today).
Good weather or bad I am out due to my knee and...
South east of Reno is the Yerington Nevada (Wilson Canyon camping area) riding areas. They are fine and rideable, however the social/nighlife is nearly non-existent.
I just don't want to see people waste their time and money for at best, so-so riding. The last four years were epic...
Jamie thanks for the update to give everyone.
Folks, I am going to give you a REALISTIC point of view. If we have high forties and even low 50's from now until the event date(s), there will only be riding down low. The Dogskin mountain range to the west of the pits will be unridable...
The snow is melting guys, just not as quick as we would like. There is no snow forcast. I we would hit our average temps between now and then, we would have to deal with dust - just kidding!
Everything will be fine.
Lots of life struggles right now - sorry for my lack of input.
I have had two knee surgeries (same knee) in 13 days. My 88 yo father is failing, and we will be losing him within a few days.
5" of snow in my front yard, temps in low 40's for the last week.
The darn cold just won't let up. We have not been above 38 degrees since the major snow. I will get my daughter to measure again, but there is no riding at Moorocks yet. If we could just get to our normal highs of 45 degreess we would be good to go. I will continually update everyone.
Hey it's my easiest knee surgery of the 4 I have had. I will be walking this PM. I used crutches for a day for pain killer woosiness (is that a word?).
Update - 12" of snow in my front yard. 35 degrees-heading for a high of 43. 48 forcast for tomorrow. Life is looking good!
Well there are spots to ride to the south of us, but it is 1 1/2 hours southeast of Reno. If the temps will just get back to normal we will be fine. Up high on the mountains though - will NOT be rideable unless we hit the 60's.
At this point brave is a good word.
I have about 30" of snow in my yard and it is still falling HARD!
Folks - the 5th annual may not take place until 2006. If we get warm temps over the next few weeks we will be fine, but we (MRANN) have already cancelled our first race of the season...
