    1987 Yz250

Hello everyone. I have recently found a 1987 Yamaha YZ250 from a guy at work. He said he would like to sell it for what he spent in parts. So he said around $1000. I was thinking maybe this is negotiable and maybe i could get him down to about $750 but im not sure, we will see. But as far as the bike goes it is quite nice and will do well for my riding. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me some things about this bike (good, bad, etc...) and maybe some past experiances with the bike. I am 5' 11 and 160lbs. Thank you.

    Elliot.

i'd pass on it,, hard to get parts now...and who knows how long till you have to spend 500 on suspension rebuild. you can finance a new bike for what the upkeep on a bike that old will run.

well... I talked to the guy some more and he went on a trip with the bike a week about and the bike will need piston rings. He said he would sell it to me for 150 bucks just because he doesnt want to fix it. It has new exhaust, chain, sprokets, and some others. i figure buy it and put a new piston in it.... no big deal.. so 300 bucks for a YZ250..... sounds damn good 2 me... and also 500 for a suspension rebuild is a hell of alot better then a 6000 dollar bike in my eyes... and yes parts are still availible. even if the bike isnt good i can sell it again for more then 150 bucks... idk we will see... later.

If you want to tinker, then heck yeah I'd buy it for $150.
