FirePower Fuel question for Rich

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I was looking in the Technical Posts forums and in a thread about switching to C-12 Rich had mentioned something about a Dr. D. Redszus that had worked for Phillips and was moving on to making his own race fuels. The company was going to be called FirePower. I was wondering if anything every came from it? I dug around the web, but couldn't find anything on it.

Kav - Dave Redszus has been distributing FirePower fuels for a while now. They developed a very intuitive naming system for the different products which allows the racer to know the exact characteristics of the fuels just by the names. I'll do a full write up when I have a bit more time, but the short explanation is, the fuels are named based on a numbering system that tells you :

- Throttle response (lower numbers = better response)
- Octane rating (higher numbers = higher octane)
- Piston crown cooling (higher numbers provide greater crown cooling via a hook in the end of the distillation curve)

So a fuel like FirePower 324 has :

3 = very sharp throttle response
2 = moderate octane rating
4 = minimal piston crown cooling

This makes it an excellent fuel for a high speed four-stroke like a YZF or CRF but not the best for a high strung two-stroke.

I'll follow up with much more detailed info when I get a chance.

Thank you Rich!
