Hey guys, the time is near. We need to make some plans. What do you guys want to do,ride Sunday or Saturday ? I didn't get a chance to get plates for my tow vehicle yet so I need to sort plans with Gary . Let me know what you guys want to do so I can check and see if it's do-able(not really a word, lol). I'd prefer Sunday if it was up to me.

No riding for me, I don't feel like i'm gonna live after todays walk. Got knocked out going up a hill by hitting a tree.

Looks like I'm out as well. Forgot its fathers day weekend, so up to the farm we go, all though we might end up taking the bikes to pass the time.
Looking good for next Sun though.

No it's not did you forget Church?

Yeah, I seem to foget every Sunday for the past 25yrs

So we went to the farm with the bikes (not going to worry about the trailer bearings anymore since after a 3hr drive they werent even warm. Going to get new tires at Walmart this week). The KX ran pretty good. I think its real soft at low/mid rpms, and seemed to run out of steam in 1st/2nd....but wind it up in 3rd and above, and WOW it pulled nice and hard! So, much improved, but jetting could prob use some fine-tuning. Any tips?
Riding conditions werent great, a soggy farm covered in rows of 2ft high oats (grass like), but they have a nice and long driveway (gravel/grass on the sides) about a 1/4 mile long, so I blasted up and down that on both bikes, just gunning for speed.
Unfortunately, on the CR, I was doing wheelies on the grassy part and the rear end slipped sideways and I lost the bike. Fell on my ass, and the bike broke my almost brand new Moose Clutch lever when it came down Grips look a little rougher now too, and the rear fender got some scrapes to get rid of the "cherry" look it previously had.
Fortunately, I had a spare CR type lever Leigh gave me, although it was too thick at the pivot point so we used a bench grinder to trim it down and it fits ok now.
Alls well that ends well.
At least it gave Michelle some no-pressure practice time on the KX to get her thinking about going riding sometime.

Posted by: Speedfreek

I've had that same problem before with the cheapy levers. Fixed them the same way. Probably a good idea to get one that fits properlly and keep the ground down one as a spare for the next time you find yourself on your butt You might also want to loosen the perch and wrap a bit of teflon tape around the bar where the perch clamps on so next time it might just move instead of breaking.

I am up for riding this coming sunday

Posted by: John Cena

I should'nt be working sunday I just hope I can get back home from brantford saturday, if so I'll be up for a ride.

Posted by: Milhaus

And in a flash, it was gone....the better part of my riding season that is.
In a hockey game tonight (yes, any Americans that may pass through this thread- We do play ice hockey all year round here even when the temperature is above 90deg.), a freak slapshot found its way to my inside kneecap (described by others at the other end of the arena as sound like "a golf ball whacked off a tree"), resulting in a kneecap swollen to the size of half a baseball and a leg I can now barely walk on.
I've had knee injuries before, but this perhaps one of the worst. I'm out for the next few weeks at least.
Have fun boys, take lots of pics, I may check in every now and then to see whats new with y'all.

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

Jesus lars that SUCKS I know exactly how you feel and even thinking about it makes my rright knee hurt as I had the same thing happen to me a few yeard back. Just take er easy on it and hope for the best is all you can do. As for the rest of you guys Where do you want to go on sunday. I am broke at the moment so somewhere i do not have to spend 30 dollars on gas to get to is good. There anything around this area ?

Posted by: Speedfreek

Lars that sucks bud, all you can do is give it time to heal. I've had a few knee injuries including a busted knee cap.Anyway you slice it it sucks. Oldschool., I'm pretty broke too,I think I'm going to take a break for a few weeks as well. I wasn't prepared to buy another vehicle, but hey, thats life . On another note the "new" to me vehicle passed the emissions test today and passed a cert. earlier in the week,I've got a hitch on the way so it shouldn't be too long before everything is a "go" again. The Blazer is gone ,so is the VW,nothing but V-8 chevy's in my driveway now Man the gas stations will love me

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

buy a full size P/U?

Posted by: John Cena

Holy s-hit guys sup! Sry about your knee Lars! So where you guys going tommorow? I just got home now was riding a 2004 KLR 650 this week, nice bike, 4 stroke but throttle respose is great.

Posted by: Speedfreek

naw,no p/u. It's almost a full size p/u though, lol. It's a 1990 chev Caprice Classic 92 000km(56 000miles) on it. They don't make them like this anymore, fullsize full frame v8. Driving this thing on the highway is like driving on a cloud.

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

cool car i used to have one. lee call my cell if you want to go riding somewhere local 905 928 6157

Posted by: John Cena

Wow can't belive it Chris. That spot in Cayuga must be haunted. First my glasses fall apart, now I notice my rear tire goes flat after sitting for 2 days. Sinces it's a slow leak im just gonna spary some of that instant flat sealing foam s-hit for cars in her should stop the leak.

Either way it's a nice little spot. Maybe next time we can find the sand pit.

Posted by: Speedfreek

Hey Guys, I'll be at INNISVILLE today until about 1pm if any of you are thinking of heading there.

Posted by: John Cena

How was your ride today Lee? Is that big puddle in the back gone yet?

Posted by: Speedfreek

It was an awsome day, weather was perfect. There was only 4 other people up there today There were lots of mud bogs on the forestry side which were great fun. Gary was having a hard time riding on the sand so we spent most of the day on the forestry side. I can pretty much guess where the puddle you are speaking of is and I didn't get over that way today so no idea if it's still there ,but my best guess would be yes.

Hey guys,

I live in Holland Landing just off Newmarket and my dad and I desperately need a new riding place we used to ride up at exit 90 (Molson park) however that place has almost been shut down except for the exception of the few trails out back near the highway which is quite limited. Anyways I was wondering if any of you avid riders could help us out, where willing to travel to the location just as long as it’s not to far out there. If you have any riding places that you think are suitable, any advice or helpful hints please E-mail me at b101lmikel@gmail.com or PM me thanks.

Cheers and safe riding ,

Mike

Is anyone riding this week? Chris where are you bro? I got a flat tire remember that small leak I had lol well I noticed a nail sticking out of my tire. I was able to get my tire off easy with a couple flat head screw drivers. Gonna try a bicycle patch kit should work no? malso remember the guy put my tire on backwards? He did'nt use the Kenda tube I gave him, he put in some cheap cheng street bike tube.

Posted by: John Cena

Well got the patch on the tube, the tire on my bike the right way this time all with 2 flat screw drivers and some chain lube lol so easy. I gotta get some tire irons on monday then it will be a 5 min job instead of 10 lol Hope the patch holds it didn't go flat yet been 40 mins, before it was flat in 40 secs lol

Posted by: Speedfreek

Hey Lee,
Princess auto has 24" tire irons on for $3.99 each right now

Posted by: John Cena

well at that price i'll get 3 Thanks! Speed have you heard anything from Milhaus or Chris? Havn't seen them on in a while.

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

hey guys whats up Maby during the long wknd i will be up for going out as long as i can get my bike running properly. For whatever reason it keeps sucking air into the fuel line and i dont want to ride it with it pinging all the time

Posted by: John Cena

Cool! Mine keeps sucking air into the fuel line too but the air pocket stays in the middle weird stuff. Weird your bike still pings have you ever tried changing pilot jets? Does your carb use pilots? Have you tried putting your jet needle clip in the top position? how much compression is your bike making? maybe you need a higher octane fuel?

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

it is pinging because the fuel will not go into the line and the engine runs really lean. almost like vapor lock. I cant understand why either because the fuel is gravity fed. Maby my petcock is nfg I'll see if i can change the o-ring in it this week

Posted by: John Cena

Cool! What day might you ride this week? I'm going to Brantford on Wednesday fishing/camp over on the river . if I got a date i'll be back for it Trying to think of how my bike would look with all black plastic except for the gas tank flat black almost greyish.

Posted by: John Cena

Have you tried adding that inline fuel filter you were using in the winter? Maybe add that to the carb so the filter fills up with fuel, then have like 2 inchs of hose from the filter to the carb. I still got mine off my kdx if you want it should help.

Posted by: John Cena

Any updates on riding this weekend everyone? I couldn't go camping on the river this week. Rivers super high and fast damn rain.

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

I had no time to work on my bike this week but ill load it up tonight and see what I can do with it. I dont even know where to go riding any Ideas

Posted by: John Cena

hmm I have no idea where to ride really either. Maybe that place we went to in Cayuga for a little bit, then hit the old cayuga train tracks for a long ride? I can give you $10
for fuel

I went to go riding yesterday at my little run way off the bruce trail and some idiots stole 2 vans smashed threw the gates and crashed the vans on the run way idiots, I had to walk all the way home witout riding.

I also mounted a bike water bottle holder to my front number plate I know that will come in handy

http://home.cogeco.ca/~lleepp/P1030484.JPG

Posted by: chalie

Posted by: Speedfreek

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

hey lee bad news my bike wont start. I have no spark. I allready cleaned the points and all but I think I may have lost an ignition coil
I am going down to honda right now to see if they have one but dont get your hopes up. sorry man I was looking forwart to going out

Posted by: Speedfreek

Just a thought Chris, did you check your kill switch ? I know you probably have, but it's something often overlooked so I figured I'd mention it.

Posted by: John Cena

I think i'm gonna cry! how do you loose a coil? How many coils are in there? you had 3 last time no?

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish

I took it to work to get it going I had to repair a broken wire on my condensor so I think I may have fried something . It ran for about 30 seconds then quit again and I could not get it restarted. And Yes I have 3 coils by my flywheen however those are your induction coils 1 is for ignition and the other 2 are for lights and aother stuff that used to be on the bike. The coil that I think is screwed up is my ignition coil. I have a feeling water got into it somehow

Posted by: John Cena

Well a friends coming to pick me and my bike up, im going riding in Brant and Paris tonight till thursday.
