Sup guys! How are ya? You guys going riding this weekend?
I can't make it this weekend i'll be working near Brantford, but I think i'll be able to go next weekend. Lars hows your knee getting better?
Posted by: John Cena
Well I was talking to my friend and I might be able to get picked up on Sunday instead so whos riding?
Posted by: Speedfreek
Not sure yet ,Lars mentioned he might be ready to ride this weekend, not sure which day though, I'm in for riding either day.I might even have my hitch by the weekend so I may ride both days, but it's all up in the air for me right now.
Posted by: John Cena
Cool! Is anyone ever planning on going to the Gopher Dunes?
Posted by: Speedfreek
I'm not sure about anyone else ,but I sure plan on going to gopher dunes at some point. If I get my hitch I may go one day next week since I'll be on holidays
Posted by: John Cena
Well my bike is bawwwwh dead! Taking it to the dump tommorow
jk about the dump.
Posted by: Speedfreek
what's wrong with it ? Did you hurt the motor?
Posted by: John Cena
Hmmm let’s see.
When I went to a little cement track too ride today my bike started great, ran great for 2 mins then bawwwhhhh and now it fouls plugs every minute. I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is it's that’s crap ATF type F Trans fluid I put in her today. I checked my flywheel cover and there was a few drops of oil so that seals going and I’m beting the one on the other side is going too. My gear shifter seal leaks as well. I'm thinking the ATF is the problem but I'm not sure. Does ATF burn like regular motor oil? If not that’s probably the problem I’m going to try non detergent 30 motor oil tomorrow.
Guess I’m going to have to start saving up for some new parts, then I’m going to rebuild her.
New:
Shifter shaft
Shift lever
Shifter shaft seal
Crank seals left and right
New bottom end bearing
New top bearing, couple piston c-clips
New Kips Lever cover, Gasket
Some Dupli colour 500F silver paint, high temp 500F clear coat going to paint my cylinder and head.
Going to be a whole new bike soon

Wow, sorry to hear....sucks.
Just got back in town from a consulting conference in Huntsville all week, so no internet access.
I'm up for a ride on Sunday if anyone else is in.
Posted by: John Cena
Wish I had a vehicle to get too where you guys ride I’m getting bored driving down a flat paved track.
I'm gooing to try and use up my half tank of gas tommorow stuffs getting old 1 month lol.

Hey Lee,
You should be able to change all those seals without spliting the cases. Grab hold of your flywheel and try to wiggle it,it will give you an idea of how bad your crank bearings are.Do yourself a favour and make a leakdown tester to check things out. One other thing to consider is the fact that the weather changed big time today as far as humidity and barometric pressure and such.It could just be a matter of the weather changing enough to throw your jetting out of whack for the day.
I put my hitch on tonight and I'm itching to take the trailer on a trip so if I get the urge maybe I'll head out that way to pick you up,but I have no idea at this point so don't get your hopes up yet.I still need to figure out how I'm getting the trailer out of the yard, lol
Lars,I'd be interested in riding Sunday, give me a call on Saturday and we can set up a schedule. A week without internet access,
I can't even imagine that

Hi Lee Sr
. I tried moving my fly wheel and i'm not getting it to go up and down even a hair. I think its just a super slow leak and the ATf fluid dinks up the plugs. I'm going to put some super thick 20w 50 in her today, that should help the sealing plus the little bit the leaks in will be burnt up.
I cleaned up my hole bike last night lol I was till 3 AM working on it. Time sure does fly when your on a mission
I wonder if Castrol 4 stroke 20 w50 oil would work good in my trans?
Posted by: Speedfreek
Hey Lee Jr, Why not install new seals? You could probably get the two crank seals for less then $30.00 and you'll probably need a clutch cover gasket. Not really a big exspense. You can fabricate a seal driver pretty easily.Do you have the flywheel puller for your bike? Air tools might come in handy to zip the nut off the crank to get access to the seals.
Posted by: John Cena
Haha its working great with the valvoline 20w 50. Hi Lee! I dont't have a flywheel puller yet and oem parts take about 5 days and there closed on sundays and I can't even get the flywheel nut off no impact wrench. I can't even replace the shifter seal, shifters welded on
So I think i'll wait till I got money for the new shifter and then do them all cause its working great now.

Glad to hear
Just out of curiosity what type of ATF fluid were you using. From what I hear you should only use the type F since it has the least amount of additives in it. I've been using it for a little while now and it seems okay. I may switch back to just regular oil though, since I seem to remember it shifting better with regular oil,but it could just be my memory failing, lol
:
You may be able to remove the flywheel nut by putting the bike in gear and having someone sit on the bike and holding the rear brake on,but without the proper puller there is really no reason to,lol. The pullers aren't to pricey, you can usually get them for anywhere from $15-$40 or just take the bike by a shop that you deal with and most mechanics will pull the flywheel off for you free of charge(atleast we always did)

I was using ATF type F. I've used a few oils the stuff Chris uses works great SAE 30. I got a Auto shop right behind my house I think they would pop the nut off for me and e-.bay has flywheel pullers for 9-14 dollars. I wonder what Chris is up to I think his bikes still broken. Here's some pics of the oils I been using.

Posted by: John Cena
Hi Chris. Hows your bike? Have you tinkered with that seal? I'm going to work tommorow and get payed next friday is anyone riding next saturday? Do they give you guys a schedule of what days of the month you work?
Posted by: Speedfreek
Actually Lee,I just checked the motion pro catalog and the flywheel puller I use will probably work on your bike as well
I copy and pasted the info here .When your need to pull it you can either swing the bike by here or borrow the puller,or any shop should be able to order it for you for less then $20.00 (canadian)They are nice to have around so you may just want to buy one

Yep that’s what my bike uses the 27mm x 1.0 left hand thread. Any of you guys need air tools? I was at Canadian tire and they have this kit for 99 dollars, you get,
62-piece kit includes 1/2" impact wrench, 3/4" ratchet and 1-5/8 air hammer
Kit also includes 10 impact sockets, 3" extension bar, various adapters and couplers, blow gun, chisels, screwdriver bits, tire chuck and gauge, oil and more, theres some 4 gal air compressors on e-bay in Hamilton with 15 hours left going for 38US
That would be nice to have
Posted by: Speedfreek
I have all the air tools I need,plus some,lol
Here's a pic of my puller so you have an idea
Posted by: John Cena
I tried getting that flywheel nut off with my torque wrench and a steel bar threw the rear sprocket, I can't get it loose at 40ft lbs my clutch starts slowly slipping. What way does the nut go to loosen? Counter clockwise? Toward the front when sitting on the bike? Good news though when I took the flywheel cover off this time no oil dripped out. 20w 50 to the rescue
Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish
the nut is reverse thread i belive.the clutch is slipping because of the oil would be my guess
Posted by: highflyernick
Hey, I know you guys don't know me but, if any of you guys plan on going to gopher dunes soon, post it up and I'll go the same day. I'm only 15 mins away from there. I get my bike back tomrrow after not riding for 1 month! I was on holidays most of that time so I didn't miss it too much, but im dying to ride somewhere.
Posted by: Speedfreek
Naw,the nut is probably not reverse thread.an air gun would take the nut off without a problem,or you can buy a flywheel holding tool or fabricate one out of a piece of flat bar stock and a few bolts.
On another note, the 20-50oil shouldn't be making it to flywheel side. The only oil behind the (flywheel side) crank seal would be two stroke oil and fuel mix.
Highflyernick, are you available to ride through the week ? If so maybe I can make it out that way. I'll have to put some thought into it
Posted by: highflyernick
Yes, I am available depending on if I'm working or not. We can't go to Gopher Dunes this week though because the Canadian Nationals are this weekend and the close 6 days before a CMRC event.
