D slide VS Round slide.

I posted this question in the mods and perf without any answer. Maybe its best suited for Advanced Technology?

Just wondering what affects a "D" slide has compared to an equal sized round slide on a 2 stroke motor.
What does it do to the power band and throttle response.

Never swapped different slide shapes on any bike I've owned, but I found the quote below on an official Mikuni Page

"Mikuni's (flat slide) carburetor, the TM Series Carburetors provide significant performance improvements over older round slide carburetors. Air flows faster and smoother through the TM Series venturi due to the flat slide design and the jet blocks which help create smooth bore effect.
The high velocity of the air flow means a stronger vacuum at the needle jet providing more precise metering and better throttle response"

dropped this carb in and noticed the bike was much crisper. could have a lot to do with spending more time jetting. still rich on top because I didn't have a small enough main jet. Originally I had to change the float heigth because we were running out of fuel on the topend and after jumps. When I did this I went too rich up top. I'm assuming because of the tube going from the float bowl to the bellmouth. I don't have much time working with a carb like this. There is no jet associated with the tube so I compensated with the main jet and ended up using the smallest one I had and was still a tad rich. Either way its better. The old carb didn't even have an air/fuel screw...only a jet.
