I was told by the insuracne company that I wouldn't be able to get insurance (for off property, liability i think) on my dirt bike without having a motorcycle lisence, is that true? becuase I woun't be able to get a dirtbike if i don't get insurance.

Thats the same thing i've been told. I don't think it would be that hard to get your motorcycle licence.

Just tell your parents (or who ever wont let you get the bike with out the insurance) how much it costs. I had the same problem with my mom, becasue I got busted for riding on the road but I luckely didnt get fined. Anyway mom wanted me to get insurance, so I said 'ok what ever, your the one who wants it so you should pay for it, becasue I dont see a need or want it.' We go to here insurance company and get a quote. Her insurance provider stopped insuring off road motorcycles, and a quote from another place was 550+ a year. She said 'never mind, you dont need insurance'.

Only problem is its a $5000 fine if you meet a a-hole cop.

No lisence is needed for offroad insurance. I ride a 2001kx250 with no lisence and have had no problems getting insurance. I go through statefarm. i pay 123.00 a year and that includes theft and fire. Just call around c ause those people u talked to don't know what they are talking about. When your offroad, the normal road rules do not apply so it is not nessisary.

$123 a year/10.25 a month, wow thats nice and cheap
Do you have auto insurance with them to?

Yea it was actually a must to get car insurance in order to get offroad ins. However they gave me a WAY better deal then i was already getting on my car. Besides, the best offroad quote i got before that was 500.00 a year.
The agent i went through is Rachael at 416 292-7588 from State Farm insurance. My liability is 69.55 a year and fire and theft is 55.00 a year. Nothing to lose calling.

i checked statefarm and they said you have to insure your car with them inorder to get off-road insurance and my parents wont insure with them. is there any other insurance companies besides statefarm that you dont have to have a motorcycle license but aslo one that you dont have to insure your car there as well?

Jevco is a Canada-wide insurance company that specializes in motorcycles and non-automobile machines. My insurance cost less than $200 a year (theft, vandalism, fire, public liability), and covered my YZ when it got stolen. I actually got more than I paid for the bike, because Jevco's insurance will cover aftermarket accessories if they're documented (pictures and receipts).
I highly recommend you take a few good photos of your bike all cleaned up with all onboard goodies shown in the photo...just as if you were trying to sell it. Then rustle up all hard-parts receipts and put them in a file. They covered my suspension revalve, Steahly flywheel, guards and protectors, renthal bars, and even a twin-air filter. It's all about being able to prove this stuff, so if you get lazy and don't document it, you can kiss a bunch of money good-bye. www.jevco.ca is the address, I think.
