I was working at a Husky dealer when that came out. Pretty amazing bike.

Hall's is a great source for older Husky stuff.

Hall's Cycles
3801 North Dirksen Pkwy.
Springfield, IL 62707
Phone: 217-789-0107

Email: halls@halls-cycle.com
Website: www.halls-cycles.com

Here's a link with a few more sources just in case. Good luck, that's a bike worth keeping alive for a long time.

The main thing with autos is ,YOU MUST USE THE RIGHT FLUID,the old stuff is hard to get,its rated to take extreem heat, there was a disscussion on the Husky club news letter about using 5w Motorrex or Ohlins fork oil,I have not checked this out,the origanal spec was Esso Univis J 26

For anyone that is working on older Husqvarnas, you really need to join this group.

http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/HuskyOwners/

After joining, send a note to the group detailing what you need and you will surely get responses.

It has been awhile (1987) but I think we replaced the recommended fluid with power steering fluid that, at the time, was used in AMC jeeps. or it might have been brake fluid?? I will see if I can get in contact with my old partner and verify this.

Rich is correct about Hall's Husky. Good guys and most likely has a part or two stashed away.

Tuff stuff to find!! Evilbay(can't say the correct name because of censorship! ) is a good source, the Husky Yahoo group is another. I have a mechanic in Liousiana I use to repair mine(3 420's). I use OHLIN oil and use a cheese cloth to strain it EVERY ride - use it 2x and throw it out. $38.~ a bottle but it won't break down as quick. Rando hd32 is another fluid but it's risky if you really plan on riding it hard(50-100 hard miles a day) - I don't suggest it. Forest Stall actually has the original fluid but as with all mineral products they have updated considerably since 1976 US intrduction of the 360 so splurge and get the good stuff.
I still race mine 2x a year at vintage enduro's... pin it and hold on!!

The straining is a good idea,BTW my 420 is finally pulling on the main, std is 430,I worked my way down to a 380,did not try the 390,will soon, and it pulls strong.I dont run the std muffler, the one I have is a lot longer and quieter, just goes to show the crap fuel thats around now.
