hey guys, My son and I ride here in the Tampa/Brandon area he's raced a couple of times at Bartow. Also ridden the track at Dade City. He rides with several other kids, so far I'm the only dad out there with them, but a couple of others are talking about it. we'll see...

Let me know if you guys want to get some organized ride together. I should be able to ride again in about 3 days, recovering from a chest wall strain I got while trying to clear a 40 foot step down at Bartow

Posted by: green

i live in orlando i rade in daytonda and orlando

Posted by: sparkysakitas

ok what ya have in mind haj ?

Posted by: HajiWasAPunk

I really don't know what other ppl do for "organized rides" but it sounds like fun. I was thinking croom or something too like you mentioned sparky? I'm thinking something where maybe we could even camp one night or something would be cool?

Posted by: sparkysakitas

we could do a ocala trip can camp there to
i think a couple east coast guys are up for that
until i get croom stickers i can only really ride at the little mudhole area that i have been riding its not that big but its not to bad of a place to ride(well its a place to ride lol)

Posted by: HajiWasAPunk

is Croom in Ocala? I've never been there, what kind of sticker do you need? Ocala sounds good though, we might even be able to get some of the SC and GA ppl to come down?

Posted by: sparkysakitas

no croom is in brooksville at sr 50 and i75 it is about a 2000+acre off road park bikes and atv's only

Has anyone been to the MXtreme Motorsports Park in Merritt Island? I have seen tracklistings for it but no reviews or anyone that has actually been there. I live in Stuart just north of WPB and there is nowhere to ride within an hour. Everyhting is 2 hours. Supposedly St. Lucie County is buildign a track and Moroso is building a track. I will try to keep everyone up to date of the progress.

Posted by: Simulcaster

Well, after some digging this is the current situation:

MXtreme Motorsports is not open yet and I have been put on the notify when ready list.

St. Lucie County Fairgrounds track has not even made in front of hyte County Commisioners yet.....could be a year or more.

Moroso they have a website but nothing on it..still under construction.

I guess it's back to the road at 2.89 a gallon for diesel.

Posted by: crimecleaner

I ride Sunshine MX in Pinellas county. Great track. I just saw this new one that opened up in lakeland. http://www.quicktrackmx.com/directions.html

Looks pretty cool. Gonna check it out in a couple weeks. Anybody ridden there?

Posted by: Simulcaster

CC, Thanks for chiming in. I found Quick Track also... Hard Rock seems like the place to go for an overnighter.... They have Mx Track, SX Track, Rollercoaster Track, Sand Track, Tons of trails and a Pee Wee Track. Camping on site sounds liek a perfect weekend to me. If you hit any of these spots please give a review.

Posted by: CR500111

Hey Simulcaster I live in Stuart and ride out at the plantbamboo com off of 714 west. Its not great but its legal and If you have a ATV its even better (lots of mud).

Posted by: Simulcaster

CR500 thanks for chiming in..... i heard you were not allowed to ride there on bikes they had to be 3/4 wheelers or trucks. I am just getting back into it and have been trying to spend more time getting comfortable again while still spending some time on the track. that is the *****hills correct. How often are they open and how often do you ride out there maybe we could hook up.

Posted by: bikepilot

I live in VA but ride in FL a bit. I just got back from a week trip to Hardrock MX (super cool place) and croom (also super cool).

I'd highly recomend hardrock

Posted by: Simulcaster

Hard Rock is at the top of my list. It is far enough away that it has to be a weekender. Did you camp? Are the bikes safe overnight if locked up? What is so appealing about hardrock is the diversity of riding. Please share more pics if you have some. looks like a blast.

Posted by: CR500111

Simulcaster, I rode out their Saterday 2/11 and they do allow Bikes their were about 10 of us out their. Its 10 bucks a person and its open 7 days a week. Their isnt a so called track to ride its just a spot to go were the cops wont hastle you. I take my 9yr old son there to ride and he loves it. I will be out their agian 2/25 so maybe we can hook up.

Dave,

Yep I camped. Its nearly a 1k mile drive for me, but well worth it. I have an enclosed trailer and locked the bikes in it overnight. Several other people had their bikes chained to a tree or truck next to their campsites and didn't have any problems. I know the track owners suggest not leaving bikes there for weeks on end unattended (even if in a trailer) as one was stolen a while back but I don't think they have had any issues with bikes getting stolen while you camp there.

They have the main MX track which is a semi-technical man made track with lots of jumps. The outback track which is smaller and great for begniners or warm up. The sand track which is pretty decent, but lacks any major hills. The Roller Coaster which is a natural terrain GP style track, very hilly and fun!

I have lots of pictures hosted on my postwhore.biz account. Check out pages 2-4 under "dirt riding" (note: the first half of page two is from various places in VA, the latter half of page two and all of three and four are Hardrock).

WOW looks like you all had a great time... did you have the suspension in that crx rebuilt to handle the track? The Rollercoaster/GP track looks really hard pack or even shelly. Did you have to switch tires out or just dealt with it? Also, I didn't notice any other riders. I assume it was during the week. Did you hang out to see how bad the weekend traffic was...... i am totally stoked on that place now and am tryin to get some boys together for a long weekend. Thanks so much for posting!!!

Posted by: bikepilot

The bike is a mostly stock 2001 CR250R - its street registerd and has lights but the suspension and motor are stock save exhaust. I ride harescrambles, MX and enduros on it!

I had a very worn out set of 756's on the whole time. They worked ok, but were not great (mostly because they were quite worn out) but I wasn't racing and didn't really care. I was there during the week. There were a couple dozen other folks there most of the time, even Tim Farr showed up for a while (first time I've been passed by a quad on an MX track). I wasn't able to stay for the weekend as I had to drive home to VA to be at work on Monday.

Hard or intermediate to hard terrian tires would be perfect for everthing but the sand track. The roller coaster is super hard for the most part and the outback and main tracks are fairly hard. The sand track, is of course sandy, but the jumps are mostly made of a fairly hard sand/clay mixture. You could get away with an intermediate tire just fine on the sand track. Unless your really worried about getting awsome laptimes or racing I wouldn't stress too much over tire choice.

From what I was told, the sand track and main track can get somewhat busy on weekends, but not ususaly too bad on weekends. The outback track and especially the rollercoaster hardly ever get very busy. I'd highly recomend the place, it was loads of fun

Posted by: Simulcaster

Thanks for all the info! Keep an eye on the posts and on your next trip down maybe we could meet up. Thanks again for putting the time into good detailed posts. so often people leave a few lines " i went to xxxxx and it was so much fun "

Posted by: bikepilot

No problem. I haven't made plans to come back down, but most likely will sometime within the next year. Spring break (I work full time, wife is in school) is a slight possibility.

Oh, I forgot to mention, they also have a decent harescramble course. But with croom not far away its not all that attractive. Croom has the big quad trails, but it also has miles of very nice, tight single track

Posted by: Simulcaster

Well, give a shout on the boards when it happens! thanks again.

Posted by: MXer1725

i live in debary (like 30 minutes west of daytona). i ride in ocala.

Ok well we ride here in Panama City at County Line MX...also ride at Milton, Laurel Hill; Crestview; Riverside in Newton, Alabama; FasTrack in Cairo, Georgia; and Ruby Hills in Chaserville, Georgia. Did ride a few times at Lakeland, Georgia and Adel, Georgia (before they closed it down). Is there anyone out there closer to NW FL Panhandle?

I'm not too far from you, just north of Tallahassee. I ride southwest of the airport in the Apalachicola National Forest- around 600,000 acres to play in. Tate's Hell is further south near Carrabell but I haven't been yet. Fastrac is about 20 miles from me. I haven't ridden the track but been to watch a few races. Ezra Lusk has been opening his track for weekend riding in Bainbridge but I haven't ridden it either. I like woods riding more but really ought to try the tracks.

Posted by: dixie67stang

Awesome, my friends are Eat Me Racing out of Nashville, GA. I'm here in Panama City, have ridden a few times, but am finally buying my own bike and really going to learn how to ride. Just lookin around to see who rides near me. Never trail ridden before. Sounds like fun.

Posted by: Vampyrz

Eat Me Racing? LOL!! I'll watch for them. Good luck on the bike. It took a while to find what I wanted but it's been fun ever since. Any idea what you want?

Posted by: dixie67stang

Well I have my eye on a CR250, but I would really like a KX more than anything else. I know where one is at now, but its a 125 and I'm debating on it cause I'm thinkin in a lil while I'll 'outgrow' it.

Posted by: Vampyrz

Sounds good! You'll have fun no matter what you go with.

Posted by: dixie67stang

That's what I've heard. I'm excited either way and I'm tryin to get my 12 year old cousin to talk her mom n pops into gettn her a bike for her bday so I have someone to ride with. She's the only one I know of thats a tough lil roughneck girl like me, lol, so nevermind the age factor.

Posted by: Vampyrz

There ya go! You'll definately have more fun with a riding buddy. I got bikes for both of our sons- 15 & 6, but only take the oldest with me. He's slow but we have a good time. We have plenty of yard for the 6 y/o to ride in and he doesn't want to go off with us anyway.

County Line is a great track, we ride it every Sunday just about. Couny Line is about 30 minutes north on Hwy 231. Also, there is another good track in Mossy Head (1hr) from Lynn Haven. It is before you get to Crestview off of Hwy 90. In Crestview, there is another track a little north in Baker. Both tracks are much sandier than County Line. County Line is a hard packed clay track.
My favorite would have to be Mossy head. All three are great to ride and the closest to us.

Do u have a mx bike?

Posted by: Woody23

I raced several years ago but sold my bikes before going to college (went to school in the northeast so I couldn't use them much). Now I'm out and picking up a Honda CR250 next week. Funny thing is that I had all the gear and typical mx stuff such as stands, gas cans, gear, etc...sold it all along with my bike. Now I have to buy it all over again. Haha

Thanks for giving me the info.
