Hey guys just looking for a couple local guys to go riding with and try and scope out a few new places to ride, they are drying up around here faster than a puddle in the desert.
We do some open practices in D-34 and races there also, gonna try some D-3 tracks this year. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Roost On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ride up at North Country ATV land in Lake Desolation and at CATRA land. No MX stuff up there though. If you like offroad riding, these are two good places to Ride.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Hey knobbiethrower, I would like to try some trail riding sometime, maybe we will plan something this year. Do you have to join catra to ride or can you go as a guest. Let me know I like to get seat time. Thanks.

Posted by: pyrofreak

I'm from the Oneonta area, about a hour from Albany. I work up in Chatham, but I dont really see much in the way of riding around there. Where is NC ATV Land, and CATRA. Do you have any websites on them? I was thinking of headin down to Paragon sometime, but 3 hours is a bit of a trek.

Posted by: KDXruss

Yeah, I'm a CATRA flunkie as well. We have info @ NYSOHV.org........ I hope.

Posted by: KDXruss

Wait, sorry it's NYSORVA.org

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

If either of you guys have some land or know of anyone that does that rides and needs a track, I'll build it for riding time. A fair offer, I have the tools but no land, the trade off for putting kids in a great school dist. lol. I will travel an hr from Latham to build it. There are about 10 of us here that ride.

Posted by: KDXruss

I can't help with finding land but It's a good idea

were you two able to find any info on CATRA? If not I would be happy to give you the rundown.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

KDXruss, all I found was an address, does catra have a website, any info would help, 47 years old and looking over my shoulder for cops whenever you ride is getting old. Been thrown out of everywhere around here. If I hit the lottery I'll buy some land and we can all ride and if the neighbors complain..... I guess i'll buy their house too. Let me know. Dave

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Hey Russ that you finishing 3rd in vetc? nice ride.

Posted by: KDXruss

Dave, CATRA has no real website. There was a link on the NYSORV. web site but it's not there for some reason. It was just a scanned page of info. about the club.

CATRA is a club made up of hare scramble, enduro, Trials and basic trail riding folks. Families wecolme.

We have private land, 200ac + or - some. Easy, intermediate, and expert level trails. We host at least one NETRA hare scramble and a trials event. The land is located in the town of Providence near Sacandaga lake. We can have guests for a day to check it out, after that we ask that you join.

I would be happy to have you as my guest when the riding season starts up! Let me know.

Posted by: KDXruss

What's vetc, I never came in 3rd in anything, maybe 23rd LOL

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I found the results from the catra hare scrambles on the net through a link with NETRA. Can you have a couple guys, my brother and a few others. We would all be up for it. Thanks.

Posted by: KDXruss

Oh.... vet-c, no wasn't me, That is my class though.
Yeah bring them all! e-mail me when the snow melts at trailrider220@peoplepc

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I tried the email, no good, wanted to know if ya need ins or anything like that to ride there. How about that trailpass stuff? My email is dbova@nycap.rr.com try that.

Posted by: KDXruss

Will do

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I was talking to one of the guys I wanted to bring up there, he did a hare scramble there a couple years ago. Says he'll never race another one, can't understand whats wrong with you people, which makes me want to try one.......But he's up for some trail riding, lol.

Posted by: knobbiethrower

CATRA will allow one visit, then you must join. The club land is outside of Saratoga (west). NCATV land is near the same area. That club is a majority of ATV riders. Both are great areas to ride.

I sold my 450 exc this fall and just got a used 640 adventure that i'm planning to dual sport this year. I can be reached at 518 878 9568 if anyone wants to ride this year. If i'm not available, I ahve some other dirt riding junkie's I can hook you up with.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Hey Knobbie you ever ride the practice track at Pierce road in Clifton Park? How much is it to join catra? I am looking forward to meeting up with you guys and doing some riding. You are gona miss the trails I think, that 640 looks huge.

Posted by: knobbiethrower

Been ridding that area since 1979. CATRA membership is about 160$ a year, but that is with a 100$ land use fee that gets waived if you do at least two work parties a year. Great group of people and good trails for the whole family.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Well Knobbie we are going to join. I was going to go to the meeting Thursday but I have to go to Boston on business. I guess we will join March meeting. Do you attend any meetings? You must live very close to Karneys if your in Ballston Lake. I work right around the corner. Well I'll catch up with you at some point. Thanks Alot.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Check out our abilities lol http://www.othgracing.com/Movie.wmv

Posted by: knobbiethrower

Yes, I have been going to the meetings..missed this one though. We'll hook up some time, I'm sure. Nice Video, I didn't see any rocks/logs or water crossings.....hmmmm

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

We keep a small dozer at that site to push that stuff off the track. I am looking forward to hitting those trails. We have been asking around and find out that quite a few people belong to CATRA and love it. Maybe we will meet at the March meeting. Dave

Posted by: knobbiethrower

Sounds like a plan, see you in March !

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Well Knobbie, looks like I have to miss the March meeting. I have a function at school with my son. April is the meeting. Dave

Posted by: KDXruss

Hey Dave, What's this about a MX course? I was at the meeting thur. and didn't hear anything about it.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Russ, please forget that post. My brother was toying with me. Dave

Posted by: KDXruss

I'm up there just about every weekend during the season so you can't miss me. April 1st is my target first ride date.
I don't think you will find to much opposition to building a mx track. Keep in mind the soil type is very rocky and might prove difficult to build something people want to ride on. What's there right now is all loose rocks, no fun, crashed hard once, it hurt.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I noticed the soil there is very boney, but if we work on it I'm sure there will be someway to improve the soil. I noticed lots of logging going on, seems the area grows trees and rocks very well. Maybe I can sell the rocks to my boss for landscape projects. See ya soon, Dave. Watch the movie,I'm the guy with the beer, lol http://www.othgracing.com/Movie.wmv

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Russ, April 1 is coming quick. Let me know if you are going riding, I have the itch. Thanks, Dave

No prob. I'll let you know!
I've had the itch since I stopped riding at the end of November

Wow! you really are ready to go! I'm not sure how much snow is left but it can't be much. I'm near Sloansville and there isn't much here.
You might consider taking this time to toughen up for catra by doing things like letting your friends beat you up with baseball bats, climbing up a step ladder and throwing yourself onto the ground, run up and down flights of stairs with your arms out to one side simulating pushing your bike up nasty catra hills

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Sloansville?? do you remember Chariot Park a motocross track in Dist 3 from the early 80's. Ah I fell down the stairs today, does that count? I just got back from Key West where I about drank myself into a coma, that may be good practice or I may just ride the womens stuff, lol.

I remeber that track but from the late 70's. Wasn't part of it on the flat track? I only raced there a couple of times. It was a 2 or 3 hour drive and I wasn't too impress with the track.

Since we're dating ourselves...has anyone raced on the SX track in the infiled of the Fulton County Speedwayin the late 70's? It's near Syracuse. That was a fun track that we raced on under the lights at night. Pretty cool for it's time!

Do you guys know where exactly this park used to be?
And did you mean the Fonda speedway?

I really don't remember but it was in Fulton. There was an oval track for the cars and they built up a SX track in the infield. It was 30 years ago and I think memory is the first thing to go...but I don't remeber

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Ok Russ, maybe Sunday? If I don't go race at Ace. Let me know.

Dave, are you talking about this Sun. 3/26 or next, 4/2?

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I was talking about this Sunday but the decision has been made. We are a going mx racing at Ace.
I know you are planning next week, but I gotta get on my bike. Started 1 kick this afternoon, I hope I am as ready as it is. I will keep in touch, maybe next weekend weather permitting.

Posted by: KDXruss

Cool. I'm waiting for some new rubber so I'm not 100% just yet.
Never heard of Ace, Where is it?

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

http://www.acemotocross.com/ New Paltz area, great fun track. Wanna go? Just tape your lights up.

Posted by: KDXruss

Thanks, but no. Maybe if i had proper moto hardware.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Ok , we'll save it for the trails. I'll be leave a post during the week.See ya.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Russ, where else do the catra guys go to chat about whos riding when? Any other websites you know of? Just curious.

New England dirt bikes, nedirtbikes.com is a good board for NETRA folks. Some moto, mostly off-road racing and trail riding.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

CATRA sat or sun let me know. My motocross career is on hold till I can ride more than 2 mins without getting arm pump.

Posted by: KDXruss

Dave let's try for Sun. did some damage to my scoot today (read about on the KDX forum) and still waiting for a new tire but I should be ok.
Hopefully my main riding partner will have his Bultaco back together by Sun. so he can go as well.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Bultaco, wtf? seriously.

Posted by: KDXruss

Yeah Bultaco, built to go!.....or glow.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

What year is that? Boot and airbox 75.00 on ****.

Mom had to go to hospital Russ, gonna have to put it off till next week, sorry to say. Keep me posted on conditions. Have fun.

Posted by: KDXruss

Hope everythings ok. See you next week.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Yes, thanks Russ, she is ok and looking to go home. We have to be available just in case. See ya next weekend.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Russ, we are going to the meeting tomorrow, maybe I'll see you there.

Posted by: KDXruss

Yeah, I forgot about the meeting. Oh well.
Riding last weekend was badazz. great conditions, pretty dry, still lots of leaves hiding rocks. I'd say more than 16 riders up there!
Probly Sunday for me, You?

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Ah don't know just yet, Maybe ride a local track here Sunday or go there in the afternoon, to CATRA.
I will let you know tomorrow. There is a work party Saturday, I have to work till noon maybe helpout after that. Have to see whats up. Crazy at work now, next few weeks.

Posted by: KDXruss

Dave, We'll be at catra around 11 today. White Dodge ram, KDX, Bultaco.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Didn,t make it up Russ. We rode a little mx track here. We are going to put in a few hrs on Sat. if the weather is good. I will post during the week. We did layout part of the harescrambles track. That looks like it will be fun. Maybe Sat. Later.

Posted by: KDXruss

We'll be there Sat. early.

Posted by: RM_guy

Hey do you guys plan on going to our spring ride in June at Paragon? We'd like to see you there

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

We'll see. Mx roots are hard to break for trails. lol.

Posted by: RM_guy

I can relate. As a kid it was all trails until I started racing, then it was all MX. I never thought I would be riding mostly trails now. Of course a lot of it has to do with my fear of wadding it on a double or triple

Posted by: KDXruss

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I had alot of fun yesterday Russ. I hope we can get together again soon. Like I said, we are probably going to race Sunday. If not I will leave a post. Happy Easter.

Posted by: KDXruss

Yeah, same here. Great ride! Always fun to ride with some new people.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Mike is hooked, he is looking at KTM 300s.

Posted by: KDXruss

Come to the dark side Mike.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Can you say KTM450??????????

Posted by: knobbiethrower

Bleed orange !

Posted by: RM_guy

Hey Knobbie! What's up? Are you and Steve going to make it down to Paragon in June? I've almost given up on Woodsrider. His skirt is too short now.

It has been a long time, Knobbie= is Steve. Rohnman and I have been riding most of the NETRA turkey runs for most of the past two seasons. I don't think we'll be able to make it in Jun too much stuff going on for me (My girls in soccer...honey do lists..) We do plan on riding Paragon later in the season- say Aug/Sept timeframe. Just had knee surgery about a month ago, haven't even rode my new scoot yet, maybe next weekend. Roost on !!

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I thought you were getting a 650 knobbie. My brother is hot for a 450 KTM. I think its too big for catra, what do you think. I would get a 300, I see you already made that choice.Maybe after the knee is a little better and I dial in my KX we can ride together. I rode with Russ last weekend, he was our personal tourguide, lol.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

No riding today Russ, bike all over garage floor. I'm trying to make it a better woods bike while keeping some mx qualities, could be an exercise in futility, Dave.

I did have a 640 for awhile, was planning on riding it for the summer and turning it around late summer/ early fall, It sold 2hrs after advertizing it!

450 is a great choice for all around trail riding. If I was racing, I'd agree that it would be overkill for CATRA. I've been mainly riding 4st for six years now and wanted to switch back, mainly due to the bike's weight and to be able to own a 2st before we can't buy them anymore..

You can dial the KX in with suspension and gearing changes and it will work OK in the woods. Going Orange would be a much better choice though!

Yeah it sure has been a long time...and my memory is working just like it always has I think I was thinking of Flubie...or maybe one of your personalities...who knows!!

I hope the knee is OK. Aug/Sept sounds good. Maybe you can get Bill to come down too. Take care.

Posted by: bakes

I might have some land for you guys, I have alot of land and we are currently trying to build a track (a small track...my friend and I both recently got Trail bikes...I got a TT-R230 and he got a CRF230F.)

Ill have to ask my dad, he wouldnt care cept for the liability thing if we build jumps and someone gets hurt on it. If we could find a way around that Im sure we could start building it.

btw...I live in brunswick, which is just outside of Troy.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Let me know bakes, I'm in Latham and we could get on it quickly, as for the liabilty, We would sign a waiver to put your dads mind at ease. We are all over 40 years old and are looking for a place to ride. Keep it in mind. I also have relatives in Brunswick with an active dairy farm, so riding there is out of the question. Look forward to hearing from you soon. Dave.

Russ, fly wheel weight will be on, new gnarly pipe and rejetted. I hope this is what she needs, maybe Sat. if it stops raining. Dave

Sweet!, That should help. Gnarly woods? Both Sat and Sun look pretty good.

This post is on Woodsrider's behalf.
Roost on!

Hey RM_gay, nice to see you still enjoy bustin' on me when I'm not around to defend myself. Lets see, between 3 kids under the age of 5, wife in grad school, work and being president of a motorcycle club, that doesn't leave much free time to talk smack on DRN these days. Besides, I'll let my riding do my talking for me. Speaking of which, when is your wife going to let you have your pair so you can come up and ride with us? I've invited you up here no less than a dozen times over the last five years and you always have some excuse that starts off with: "I would, but my wife..." Who's the skirt-wearin' Sally now? I know you're really afraid of rocks and hills aren't you?

Have I got a deal for you then. The CATRA PeeWee Scramble is Saturday May 6th. The PeeWee track has very little elevation change and only a few rocks and roots. I'm sure you could enter and maybe beat one or two of the kids riding those little 50's. The cost is $20, plus you'll need to be an AMA and a NETRA member. Memberships will be available at sign-up. Sign-up opens at 10:00 and the first race gets underway at 12:00, so you don't have to get up too early. Being that it's on Saturday that would give you a whole day to recover before you limp into the office on Monday morning bragging to all your coworkers about your finishers ribbon. You can tell them it's for first place and they'll never know the difference... provided you actually finish. Of course we'll let you camp out Saturday night. I'm sure dirtybkr has room in his tent. I just don't want to hear any stories about Brokeback CATRA the next day.

Then on Sunday, May 7th, you can watch the CATRA Hare Scramble. Sign-up opens at 7:00 for the Mini and Big Wheel classes, race starts at 9:00. Sign-up for Juniors, Novices (C), Super Senior and Womens classes starts at 9:00, race starts at 11:00. Sign-up for AA, Expert (A) and Amateur (B) classes starts at 11:00, race starts at 1:00. All racers must have a NETRA transponder along with current AMA and NETRA (or other recognized district) membership. Once again memberships will be available at sign-up. You nust also be a member of a NETRA competition club if you want NETRA points. Cost is $25 for the 9:00 race and $35 for the 11:00 and 1:00 race. There's also a $5 parking donation which includes one raffle ticket for a free set of riding gear courtesy of Parts Unlimited and Ballston Cycle and Truck in Ballston Lake, NY. Although I'm not sure you can trade it in for a new skirt and that set of pumps you've had your eye on for a while.

He means, "let my crashing do my talking for me". I don't remeber a time that Billy Boy didn't crash hard anytime I ever rode with him. I guess he's just trying to catch up with me...

Hills and stones can break my bones but that don't mean I'm scared of 'em It's your gay ways that make me nervous. This fasination with me in a skirt is down right weird. If I remember correctly you were the one actually wearing purple shorts, I only wear a skirt in your dreams

RM_gay - I seem to remember it was YOU who crashed your brains out the last time we rode at Paragon together. Or did YOU hit your head hard enough to forget that part. Better get a new helmet man.

I also seem to remember it was YOU crying for help when YOU got stuck on that hillclimb the first time we rode together at Paragon. That's why it's called Howe Hill.

Speaking of hills does the Scottish Trials at the Ridge Runners property bring back any memories... the one YOU couldn't make it up. Did you even make it one lap of the hare scramble loop?

You've gotten senile in your old age. Better trade that RM in for a walker.

You know if you rode half as good as you talk smack you might actually have a chance of passing me one day...

Posted by: RM_guy

OK, OK, OK...I give up. You are the supreme rider of all time. I worship you. You can do no wrong. If not for you I would have no one to look up to.

Please stop hurting my feelings. I am but a fragile old man and my ego is easily brusied. You can never understand because you are twice the man I am.

Pick a date this summer and I'll come up and ride. Of course I will have to clear it with my master but I'll make it up for a day. I really don't want to hear you complain about the same things over and over again so I'll give you some new stuff to use

Posted by: KDXruss

Let's see.....Woodsy wants to dominate RM guy, RM guy submits. Can't you two see your in love with each other!
For a minute I thought we were going to see the both of you on Friday night sissy fights.

Who's complaining? I was merely stating FACTS.

If and when your master does give you permission I'll be sure to bring a camera to document the crash... er... occasion.

nevermind the chatter, Russ, you riding this weekend?

Posted by: knobbiethrower

Wish I could.....maybe next weekend...

Posted by: WoodsRider

I'll be up at CATRAland Sunday helping to set the race course up and do some riding. If you're interested in seeing more of what CATRAland has to offer look for the blue GasGas with the trials tire on the back.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I am torn between riding and doing yard work and getting that over for the spring. I need an hr to get the bike together, maybe see ya Sunday. I am going to work the race, I think, See you at the meeting.

Yeah Dave, I rode Sunday, 6 laps on the track.I Crashed pretty good going up the nasty uphill near the pavilion! Dropped the bike hard and broke the headlight and plastic. Glad it wasn't anything important!
Thanks for the well wish

Wow, that didn't take long! Think he'll let me take her for a spin? I'm finding it hard to resist the orange bikes lately and I like the 300's reputation.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Costly experiment. I hope he likes it, he has the ability to move used bikes quickly if he doesn't. Seems he sold at least a dozen in the past year, lol. jk. I'm sure he will let you try it. See ya.

Really, Really bad. Somehow in the excitement and confusion of the day I screwed up my race time. I intended to race c-vet but didn't realize that all c classes race at 11. I was dead positive that it was at 1:00. Had to sign up for B-vet and ride the nasty splits. After a bunch of stalls, crashes,(one good one over the bars), getting stuck and using what little energy I had left to get unstuck I am sorry to say I could only manage one lap
Oh yeah, my handlebars and bark busters are all F'ed up
I was so tired and my arms were so pumped that I could not control my bike. My hands were so numb that I had whisky throttle all over and forget about the clutch
I had to get the hell out of there in order to preserve my health so as I can make it back to work

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Welcome to racing, sounds like a fine initiation. Lets ride together again, I have all my woods stuff on and Mike has his 300. My mom is in the hospital again so this week is a little screwey, but Sunday may be a good day. Oh Mothers Day. We'll see. I have a set of bars off the kx if you want them, the stock set.

Posted by: KDXruss

Dave, Definitely Sat. for me. What about you and brother Mike? I know he can't stay away from catra with a new KTM.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Mike can't make it Sat. he has to work. I have to work in the am. so not sure what time I'll be done.
If you have Saturdays off maybe you can get me an application. LOL. I won't see that till next month, maybe.

Well, you know, Saturdays off if nothing goes wrong, everything gets done and the weather cooperates.
I'd rather work long days during the week to avoid work on the weekend. Stupid work gets in the way of everything, drinking, riding, WTF

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

LOL, this once a week riding is a bore, I need some mid week excitement. After this week I need to ride on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. Lets try and get 1 a week in. Let me know.

I'd like to but it might be hard for me to pull off. That's a lot of driving for one night. What time were you thinking?
Hey Knobbie, We must know each other from the club, Care to give me a clue as to your secret identity.

Ride an Orange bike, have a Green Honda Ridgeline Pickup. I think I've seen you up there, but we've never really met.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Probably 5pm. That would be the earliest I could make it. If I was out at 4 and had everything at work with me. But that causes problems cause the guys I work with see it and think I get to do what I want, so on and so forth. Ok 5:30, so I can go home and pick up the bike.. Just a thought. Russ, we also do some riding at a location, close to your work, that I cannot disclose at this time. I have been sworn to secrecy, you need to be initiated into the circle of trust to get the code. This may be better if you can bring the bike to work.

Hi guy's I thought I would finally chime in on this thread, it's getting pretty long. Russ, it sounds like you had a good time at the HS. I can't wait to get the 300 up there and try her out.
Knobby, I had the white Ridgeline at the first work party. I think we may have met but that was the first time I was at Catra and I met a lot of people. We have to plan on all meeting up real soon. Saturday is out for me but the next weekend should be good if all goes well.
It's time for work, gtg.

Yeah, I would bring it with me. It would be great if the spot was a little closer than catra.
I hope this initiation doesn't start with me drinking a gallon of keg beer and end with me saying "thank you sir may I have another"

The shop is on Lisha Kill. Where on Rt 7 did you see me? White Truck, red trailer, couple of Toro's?
So much pollen and dust flying around today. We need some rain. And I think were gonna get some too.

Had the day off! Just got back from a two hour ride on my local trail in the rain Knobbie. Had a blast blitzing around in the mud
Now I'm drinking beer. Life is good.

I bet you had fun, too ! I wish I could have been there too.

Posted by: KDXruss

Yeah, the little trail down the road from my house is pretty not bad. It's a sled trail, basically flat, wide. Different than catra, clay based soil with flat rocks, not round. Mostly 3rd and 4th gear. Roughly 4 miles back and forth. The local atv rednecks must love it, lot's of tracks and beer cans.

Russ tomorrow afternoon may not be so bad. Post if your riding.

Maybe paddle tires and strap it to a log. Tow it with a trailer and swim next to it. If it stops raining maybe a day in Nkuna. It has 2 water crossings that were deep before it rained, but most of it is sandy. Should be fun I'll keep ya posted.

I'll be watching. Stay dry.

Why are you home so early? You have way to easy of a job for a landscaper. 60 hrs per week min. Unless you travel with a laptop so the boss can keep tabs on ya, then ouch. Maybe Thursday would be a good day to ride. or swim or whatever.

Posted by: knobbiethrower

We may have to call the next trail ride this weekend the submarine trail ride, if this weather keeps up.

This will really help out the black flies (teeth with wings!)

Yes Russ, new stuff works well on the little mx track where I have been riding and the 1 woods ride I did. I am looking forward to getting up to Catra for another day if it stops raining. I would like to get up there tomorrow, I am not going to Claverack with a 50% chance of rain.

Another CATRA member here... I'm not only a member, I'm also the President. I don't live far from you (Consaul Rd. & St. David's Ln.) and do most of my riding at CATRAland, because it's legal. Also compete in NETRA enduros, some hare scrambles and occasionally ride a turkey run. A friend of mine has a 2.5 mile enduro practice track in Duanesburg, where I've ridden, that's mostly flat with a lot of tight turns in the trees and a nice grass track. It's not very technical, no rocks or hills.

I'm going to be riding Thursdays after work, so if you're up for a mid-week ride, let me know.

hey mike , i think I know you... were you at twister valley last tuesday during that crazy lightning storm(white honda truck)? I met you at eagle bridge? if you are I`m the guy with the new husky, unfortunately I won`t have my license back till september 9th , dwi last september , quit drinking though , usually have to have someone drive my dodge ram up for me(pay them 50 bucks), been tuff with business to.. but I`ve worked thru it and have been real busy , but yes, I`m definately up to going to twister valley , I`ve been lucky enough to have a friend with tuesdays off but he got a new job so I`m not sure where I stand as of now. Well if you know anybody that has room for 1 more bike and person let me know, been looking at purchasing a cargo trailer but i got another dirtbike I`m looking into getting after I finish this window and siding job(2006 crf250r) husky is awsome but beating me up a bit , need to order new rear spring , I don`t weigh enough to get 4 inches of sag.. had to order new front sprocket as well 1 tooth less just to tame the animal..aha.. still breaking it in and getting use to it...getting more daring as well... geez.. these toys are expensive hey let me know

Posted by: OTHG MIKE

Ya Sean, that was me. I really like that track. It was pretty hard pack that night but it must be real nice after they groom it. I'm not too big on jumping but I did a few of the smaller doubles. I'll have to work up to the bigger ones. You'll have to find a new chauffer. I have a two bike trailer but I have to pick up my brother on the way. He couldn't make it last week. If anyone else is going I'll see if they can work something out with you.
Quote:

Did you back the spring off? I had to get a heavier spring for my bike this week too. I'm waiting for the front springs. They should be here next week.
Hope you can make it.

Yeah I backed the spring off untill it came loose , still no cigar... have good news though.... Just bought a 2006 kx250f and got hotwheels graffix , pro taper fat bars... ordering athena big bore kit and new pipe , and boyeson water pump.... this bike rips and is super light , runs pretty hot though , bigger piston should help cool it with high flow water pump , drained radiators and mixed it 70 water 30 coolant , water has better cooling properties than coolant , seemed to do the trick.. well if I can find a ride today.. I`ll be up there on my kawasaki for the first time.. I have a feeling this bike is gonna fly alot easier than the husky..(keeping husky for friends to ride when we go up there) just pray they don`r wreck it..ahaha.. yeah , but the husky is alot stronger and way more powerful... its to bad its so heavy cause its a superior bike by far.. oh well , when I get better I`m positive I`m gonna be on that 450... but for now the animal will be garaged on a stand with a cover over it. Well everyone thinks I`m nuttz , Gonna save up money for land and see what happens. So probably in a year or 2 I will have enough saved if business keeps going this good as god as truly blessed me , and I am grateful... welp.. hopefully I`ll be up there tonight because I really want to try out this new bike really bad. And address any problems and get it tuned properly(susension etc)... So I will say I`ll be up there and keep it positive and it shalll happen.. alright buddy I`m ramblin on here , gotta get ready for work , take care

This just in!!.....what in hell made you stop drinking beer? Is it the same thing that made you stop riding at catra?
All kidding aside, congrats on the new bike and when we gonna ride again?
So many questions, so little time.
Oh yeah, about the 250, maybe if I had aspirations of becoming a moto bone-head but I like the woods

Lol, you make me laugh. The boss has been away so I've been the fill in for the week. What a ****ty week too. I have been trying to get out, havent been on the bike in 3 weeks I think, work has been insane. Then I got a leak in the roof and yadda yadda yadda, 3 weeks are gone. You riding on the 4th? Looks like the only free time I'll have for awhile.

Posted by: KDXruss

Not sure yet when we are riding. Either 3rd or 4th, will post.

Hey all!

I can't believe all the talk of trails so close to me, well actually I guess I can believe it considered how rural NY is. Anyway, I was thinking of purchasing my first dirt bike (just recently got my first 2 wheeled vehicle of any kind) after riding a junked 80cc that I resurrected at a friends house for a little while.

I was curious about stuff more local to practice on, trails sound fun, I don't think I'm into jumps or MX stuff. Are there any road tracks around (I realize it's a dirtbike forum, but thought I'd ask). What size bike would everyone suggest for a 200lb guy? Somewhere 200-250cc good to start out with?

I guess the next step is to get geared up.

itjstagame, I have a bike in the garage for you an 02 KX250, I am in latham also. Email me at dbova@nycap.rr.com. I have just been through the whole bike and it is good to go. I bought a 450 and the 250 is just sitting pretty ready for some lucky person to pick it up. I haven't put it in the want ad yet, I was hoping someone I knew would want it because its a great bike. Let me know, Dave.

Working late this evening with the boss..@#$% it never ends, have fun.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Well, whats everyone up 2 no posts in awhile.

Posted by: WoodsRider

It's be nice to have a few more people show up to WORK during a work-party day. Took a few members on a good trail ride after the last one.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

I will be at another 1 before the year is over, work is busy and some personal stuff going on has left all riding on the back burner. It is just good to look at the forums and see what everyone is up to. I will get at least 1 ride in with you this year. Later, Dave

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

But it will be on a 450, the 250 is gone.

Posted by: KDXruss

Plenty of ridin' season left Dave, let me know when your back up and running.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

If I can figure out how to make this thing slow down, I might be riding soon.

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

Well, everyone must be riding and not posting. Ride on CATRA memebers.
