Making the frame pretty!

Has anyone polished the aluminum frame on there bike? I srubbed the frame down with some of that maroon 3M pad. Then I polished it with some metal polish from Mothers. Wow did it ever turn out nice.

I am just wondering if any of you found anything that worked better for cleaning the surface before the polish goes on?

The maroon 3M pad left streaks in the aluminum, so I can't get it to shine as good as I would like it to.

really fine steel wool should take out most of the streaks and leave a really nice shine. BTW are you registered on jeepkings under the same name?

I just use Mothers on my CR.
It has taken almost ten seconds off my lap times.

Yup Oldschooldeathwish that's me! I was told to stay away from steel wool because it would go to deep? So you have used it before?

The streeks might even be part of them aluminum being bent in mandrel bender! I just though I might be able to get them out and make it look like a miror, lol!

I have been cleaning my bike like mad in the basement of my house. It keeps me out of the girls hair, lol! I also want to d my first top end rebuilt before spring.

There is alot more to it than I thought eh!

Ya it doesn't look hard! Does a rebuild kit come with the new RC valve gasket and the gasket for the cylinder? What all comes in a rebuild kit would be a better question?

You don't get the RC gasket with the kit. A top end kit should consist of a piston, rings, clips, pin & bearing, head & base gasket. (beer not included)
