Paragon Planning Yet?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: squeaky

I know it's only February, but I'm itching to ride. So, I figure we can at least start talking about the Spring ride!

When does everyone want to go?

Classes end for me May 2 - so I figure anytime after that's good! You guys probably don't want to go before then anyway - it'll be pretty cold!

So, what's everyone's ideal time to go?????

Posted by: RM_guy

I haven't had time to do much checking on things since the last thread on this. I'm torn on the timing. I can't make it during the last 3 weeks of May or the fist week of June. Even the first weekedn in May might be a problem. It would be nice to have a real Spring ride in April buy the weather can be iffy and Red Ridge isn't open before May 1st. I know June 10th is late but the weather sure is a lot warmer.

Posted by: squeaky

I'm open for warm!

Posted by: RM_guy

I am too. We had a real good turn out last year in June too. Besides, if it's warmer I can run around with my shirt off and show off my new body ...so on second thought, let's make it in March

Posted by: squeaky

LOL Maybe we should post a poll? (About who prefers Spring vs. June, not about who prefers to see you shirtless or not! )

Posted by: Papakeith

why not both?

Posted by: squeaky

I can't do both with school....I pretty much have to wait until after May 2

Posted by: RM_guy

Both isn't a problem as long as one of them is the main event. This thing is more than just riding but a reunion of sorts and I'd rather there be one event where everyone knows that everyone else will be there. That's half of the fun!

I called Paragon and they plan on having showers, etc installed by Memorial Day buy that will be dependent on the weather. They also only have 18 spots available for now and no group area. I'll be checking back as we get closer but we probably shouldn't plan on camping at Paragon. Look how long it took them to install MX tracks...oh yeah, they still haven't

That leaves RedRidge that doesn't open until May 1st. I'll be calling them too.

I like June 9,10 &11

Posted by: squeaky

That looks good for me too, which means it also looks good for Rooster

Posted by: CaptainObvious

Warm is good. Low dust and warm is best.

Posted by: LoriKTM

Not til June??? Waaaaahhhhh!!!!

Posted by: Treejumper

Doesnt matter to me much, May or June.

How long are you going to be around for Lori?

Not as long as I thought. We just accepted an offer on our house!

Oh well. There's always the fall ride, or Dirtweek...

Posted by: squeaky

Or we could just all come there and ride with you

Posted by: LoriKTM

Works for me!!

I'll give you a 2x6! Heck, I'll pay cash-money to have a front row seat

Posted by: Kav

I'm all for mid to late June, I could swing that. I'll be in Canada for the first part of June and would not be able to go ride then.

Posted by: Papakeith

Yes, I will not attend Paragon if it conflicts with Southwick again
OK, maybe I'll go, but I'll be pissy about it

Posted by: Papakeith

Alright, maybe not pissy. grumpy might work though

Posted by: sick 96 250

i'm game like usual, just re-did a lot of stuff on the RM so i dont crash every 10 seconds again, i think i will have more control this time around

Posted by: squeaky

I want to go now!!!!!!!!!

So how does the weekend of June 15, 16, 17 work for everyone then so we don't conflict with Southwick?

Posted by: CaptainObvious

Sammy,

I like how you think, starting your weekends on a Thursday.

PK, when you get pissy, do your nipples get sore?

Ooops! I wish I could do that! I meant 16th, 17th, and 18th!

Posted by: RM_guy

I thought everyone was boycotting Southwick because they wouldn't let you bring in beer, you couldn't bring in something or other.

Let's make it June 16-18 then. It is still Spring so we're safe calling it the spring ride.

Posted by: Papakeith

What about a March or April ride? Or even May.

I need a riding fix bad

and Junk, the answer is yes! WoOT!!!

Posted by: DaveRS575

I can't believe nobody is even considering April......

April showers, will bring May....er...NO DUST and warm coolness!

(Cool enough that Dave won't be tempted to walk around with his shirt off anyway!!)

Serously though, I am down with any of the dates, but I do thing that there should be a DYDR Spring Ride....even if we get a light turn out, it's still a spring ride....right?

Posted by: Treejumper

June 16, 17 & 18 works for me other than i would have to bail saturday night so i can be home for Fathers day that sunday. A ride in April sounds good. Since campground is closed we could arrive saturday morning, motel it that night and ride a half day'er on sunday.

Posted by: Treejumper

Oh, march might be pushing it for me since i just ripped the bike down to the frame for powdercoating. Still need to pull the head to see how badly the insides are. Remember i was using 1/4 qt of oil per tank of gas.

Posted by: RM_guy

I'm up for a one day ride in April if the weather isn't too bad. The "official" ride would still be in June but I'd sure like to get some good riding in before that!

PK, that was just in bad taste...not that there's anything wrong with that

Posted by: CaptainObvious

That Pred is a sexy *******.

Yes, lets have a pre-spring ride in the spring. That is the DYDR way.

Posted by: Kav

I'm game for the 15th-18th ride, I'll just consiter it an early B-Day present for me

Posted by: squeaky

Rooster and I discussed it - we're out for a ride in March/April, with me being in school again, I can't afford any weekends away.

Now, the question is...what's more important to you guys? Going to Southwick and riding Father's Day Weekend, or missing Southwick and riding that weekend instead. Besides, who wants to watch people ride and not be able to drink beer while doing it? What kind of non-redneck crap is that?

Posted by: Papakeith

I don't believe I've ever had a beer at Southwick. . . Never had any money left after the gate fee.

Posted by: squeaky

Geez how much they get you for there?

I don't understand the whole watching other people ride, I just never could get into it anyway.

Posted by: Papakeith

It's impressive to see just how bad you really ride. I'd get ~1/4 lap in and RC would be passing me.
I didn't mind the gate fee for me; I think it was 25$ but for Justin (8 yr old at the time) it was 25$ too.

Oh well $25 for an adult isn't bad, but for an 8 year old?! What a bunch of crap!

Posted by: Treejumper

I thought the gate fees went up to $30 last year? No sure since i didnt even get to High Point last year. I could go for watching some racing at Southwick.

Posted by: RM_guy

I don't remeber the last time I paid to get into a National...snicker, snicker, snicker

I'd much rather ride than watch but I do like to go to Binghamton and Unadilla since they are both local tracks for me.

Why, do they have a senior discount now?

OUCH!

Posted by: squeaky

So, have we made a decision? We only have 4 months people!!!

Posted by: RM_guy

So is it Southwick weekend or Father's Day weekend?

I say Father's Day weekend

Posted by: squeaky

We have one vote for Father's Day!

I'll vote for Father's Day too, just because I don't really care either way!

Should we post a poll?

Posted by: scooter1130

I vote for next weekend .... I am ready to ride

Posted by: scooter1130

actually I am not sure how the beginning of june will work for me..so pick a date, and if I can I will be there.
My mother is retiring May31 and my parents are moving to Maine within the first few weeks of June... not sure when yet, depends on how quickly they have everything packed to go.

I hear ya!!! I could use it!

Posted by: OTHG_DAVE_858

What is Paragon and where can I get some info. With all this chatter it must be heaven.

Posted by: Draybob

Paragon

OTHG_DAVE_858, click on the Paragon link above.

Paragon is just west of Hazleton, PA. If you are into trail riding then it is a great place to ride. The bonus is meeting up with this group and enjoying it together. I've done 3 rides with them and it's always a great time.

Posted by: Treejumper

Any date is good with me (maybe?). Scooter dont worry if the ride falls on the weekend you need to move your parents. I heard that PK, Roo, Squeaks and Dave said they would haul their funiture half way to Maine.

Posted by: squeaky

OTHG_DAVE:

Paragon rocks if you're into trail riding! Plus, like Draybob said, this is a great bunch to hang with. The campfire stories/chatter alone makes the trip worthwhile!

Posted by: Rooster

Git 'er done! Let's go already!

Posted by: Trigger1911

Hey! No april or may dates for the ride? Whats the deal?

Posted by: squeaky

I think that's just not convenient for a lot of people, myself included (School)
