Posted by: Papakeith

since we have a tool bag. should we put a small tool kit in it?

Posted by: Masterphil

DRN fender stickers?

Posted by: Papakeith

no DRN swingarm stickers!

Posted by: AJ Waggoner

papa, yea if it has a bag i will be putting a tool kit of some sort..
likely a basic enduro tool kit /spark plug holdrr/plug .. minimul stuff but basics..

Posted by: Masterphil

I'm not sure who's bike it is, but a member of this site has a honda with a black powdercoated frame, swingarm, and black rims. That would make it look even more killer.

No offense to AJ and the bike he's trying to sell but my opinion is please keep the powder coater away from this one

Posted by: AJ Waggoner

LOL Chili!
no worries!!

I know the CRF250R all *powder blinged* out is an aquired taste..
i wouldnt do that to a test bike.

Posted by: rm_racer

What about hubs, spokes and brake rotors? Or a aftermarket triple clamp like RG3?

Posted by: crazy4nitro

Are the brake lines Braided Stainless stock? if not, worth a nod in my opinion.
Crazy

Posted by: likelite

forgot.braking rear caliper.for the brake draggers.i also had good luck with catrol srf brake fluid in the little master cylinders and calipers.

Posted by: Moteaux

Did I miss handguard selection somewhere? I pick Enduro Engineering for that if it hasn't been done already.Ok.. I just saw the handguard poll. I posted this when all I saw was the sticky link for the bike spec and handguards weren't listed

Also gearing (sprocket size). Input from riders where the bike will be tested on what gearing works best for open class bikes.

What about potential jetting issues (temps, altitude & humidity) I know I haven't reall all the threads on this build-off. These are just things that come to mind.

Forgive me if these issues have been covered. I am still hiding out on these drilling rigs most the time these days.

despite being midwest based-
we (*SH*) do most of our AF /AFX testing in socal ..
(also i used to live out there)
we do test in areas the bikes from mags will be tested at,
and will be there before and during the test,
so on the issues of jetting /gearing and likewise we have a pretty good base , and will bring supplies along to adress anything like that, that comes up.

likelite -
thanks for the name info on wr gears..-

i'll look into availablity of WR trans gears..
just to see if you can really get them..for this engine.
its a persistant rumor, and perhaps they exist,
but thats something i havnt had much luck with in the past getting,
as HRC stopped making thier kit,
so did IMS (based on the HRC gears) -

i just spoke to IMS a couple of weeks ago about it in fact,
as if they dint have them, we were considering manufactuering
them , since they dont seem to be around and there is some customer interest.

I did go to madmans website-
thier WR kit appears to be the oriiginal HRC , or based on it..
and it shows available.

I wil call them on monday and see if they have those parts i nstock, and if they would be interested in participating?

if so- then we can poll and see if a consesus on CR or WR can be found..

on brake lines, the oem hondas are braided,
but could certainly be upgraded with another brand ...

on the rear shark fin, i believe that was in one threadl already
and decuided.but i will check.

***************************************************
All the input by everyone is gone over,
and very appreciated!!

unfortunantly this whole thing has been on a time crunch-
and now with only about 10 biz days left before the deadline and builiding /shipping comes into play-

we may not have time to get into every idea or component.
brought up, but will certainly try to!

so please keep the ideas coming!!

but also realize with the time contraints we may,
or may not,
be able to do something, regardless of how cool or functional it might be..

what about madman engineering wr 3rd-5th gear?

Likelite, Thank you for signing up as a DRN Subscriber!
However I think the products represented on the DRN SH 500 should be determined by the people who have been involved and supported DRN in the past.
AJ, if you think they are great then go for it, yet I don't think we should use them!

Posted by: AJ Waggoner

bsmith-

just looking into availablity at present ..
after i found out they have them,
and are willing to participate,

just like the other options on the bike it then it would go to a poll to see if:

a. wide ratio gearing was an option wanted by the DRN members , for this project bike

b. which brand to use , if more than one brand of WR gears are even out there for CR500 engines.

Posted by: likelite

i just found out about them recently.i understand if you do not want to use them.i just figured it would be good to let it be known they are available.i was under the impression they were having them made.any how glad aj is buying them.

Posted by: AJ Waggoner

i wish they were making some !! as we could use a good supplier of such gears for sure!

but alas noone is actually making them anymore,
we do plan to someday find someone, that can, or is, manufactuering them though.

Posted by: XRpredator

I seem to recall A-Loop (formerly Moose) offering a variety of wide-ratio gearsets for several brands of bike. This could have been ten years ago too, but might be worth a shot.

Posted by: SpeedyManiac

Are you guys putting a brake snake and shifter snake on the bike? Worthy and cheap add-on in my opinion.
