NY SpodeFest?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: wayneo426

How many of you would be interested in a little mini-spode fest in the upstate NY area? Im thinking about possibly the Modena area, although Im open to just about anyplace within a 4 hour drive of the Island.

Posted by: RM_guy

I’d love to. I was going to put something together but have been too busy. There is a MX track for rent in Montrose,PA that is very nice. http://www.mx573.com/ Small parts store, camping, pond, watering system. I don’t think there are trails to ride on though. It would be a great place to hold something. Maybe we could work out a deal with the owner. I talk to him next time I’m there.

There are suppose to be some trail system near Deposit,NY but I lost the phone number that Silver Bullet posted in a thread last year. Silver Bullet, you out there???

Lets get this rolling…

Posted by: wayneo426

RM_Guy, Im going to email Silver Bullet, and let him know whats up. I know Shaw520 is out there too, and would probably be into it. Hey Greg, you there buddy?

Posted by: Silver Bullet

I would definately be into a NY Spodefest! Modena could be cool or perhaps the track RM Guy mentioned. It would have to be a fairly easy road trip so I could get up and back the same day. I'd be into just about anything to get together. RM Guy- I had that phone number I sent you but I will have to try to find it again. I think I got it from one of my NETRA newsletters. I will try to hunt it down again. Keep me up to date. Wayne we still gotta get to the track together. Maybe week after next? I'll let you know.

Posted by: wayneo426

Waitin' on you Bullet! Lets get out there!

Posted by: RM_guy

I think the original thread was deleted but I actually found a printout of it in my briefcase (don’t ask ). I haven’t called yet but the guy’s name is Eric Krobath and the numbers is (516)889-1375

Posted by: LoriKTM

Count us in for a NY spodefest, but there'd better be trails to ride on! Everyone always laughs at me if I ride the MX track with barkbusters and a headlight...

Posted by: nkd

Sounds great! I will do trails or track, just let me know
and I'll bring some friends too. It would be great
to meet everyone!

Hey Lori, if I can ride in the woods with wide handle bars then you can ride on a track. Besides I have bark busters on my bike. They add to the spode effect.

Posted by: WoodsRider

It just wouldn't be a spodefest without seeing someone... RM_guy... tag a tree at speed.

I've heard of a place near Albany that has a SX track, old school MX track and an 8 mile enduro/hare scramble trail. If anyone is interested, I could find out some more information.

Posted by: wayneo426

From the looks of everyone here, I would think that Modena, NY, http://www.atvnewyork.com/
would be the choice spot to accomodate us all. Theres a little of everything, so it should suit us. They also hosted a HS in April. Its about 125 miles from Binghamton, around 75 from Albany, Not too far from Jersey, and around 110 from here. Let me know what you all think?!

Posted by: LoriKTM

I think we could drive 4 hours for a NY Spodefest! Sounds like a good location, with electric hookup for trailers and on-site showers.
Now, the next big question: When?

Posted by: WoodsRider

How's everybody's schedule look in July?

Posted by: Papakeith

Wow a fest close to home!
Got room for a spode from Rhode Island?

Posted by: RM_guy

July looks doable for me. I will probably not stay overnight, just get there early and leave late.

Is anyone a club member for this place in Modena?. It looks like a good place but I wonder how crowded it gets. Maybe we can make it a week day and miss any crowds. Any thoughts?

I noticed there sound restrictions of 65dB at 200 feet. Does anyone know if stock MX bikes will meet this?

Papakeith, you’d better be there. You’re the #1 DRN support team member

Posted by: Treejumper

I might be able to make it depending on when it is. If i get my promotion then a week day is out of the question, but weekends are fine. I'll keep checking this tread.

Posted by: Silver Bullet

July would probably work for me. A weekday would be better for me but a weekend might be doable. Modena is pretty cool. IT had a little of everythign although unless they built a track this year there really wasn't any motocross area. Mostly open riding through some pits, fields and an orchard. There are also lots of trails. It would be a great place or a day trip though just to get everyone together!

Posted by: wayneo426

Bill,
They say they have a "practice" motocross track, whatever that means. Probably means they dont hold races on it. No pics on the website, though.

Posted by: Papakeith

I saw that too. I also noticed that the banner read " No modified or aftermarket silencers" If true I would imagine that would X out a good many of us.

On the date:
I have plans for the weekend of the 14th. Other than that weekend, I am good to go!
A weekday might be do-able.

Posted by: wayneo426

Im not too sure that they will actually lock you out if you have an aftermarket exhaust. What they are trying to do is keep a handle on noise emissions, so that the brainless few dont show up with an entire exhaust missing. I know several people that have gone there with 2smokes, w/ aftermarket exhausts, and nothing was mentioned to them.

Posted by: LoriKTM

July would be Ok, as long as it's after the weekend of July 8th. (And preferably before July 29th). Our club's enduro is on the 8th, so we'll be pretty busy up to that point. Weekends are good, although a day trip during the week might be possible.

Posted by: wayneo426

Just about any weekend in July except the holiday, (4th), is ok with me as well. How many of you want to do it on the weekday as opposed to the weekend? Im cool with it either way.

Posted by: Silver Bullet

I have been to Modena several times. Here's the deal (at least as of last season- heven't been there yet this year). The property is basically open riding anywhere you want. The place is an old campground so there is a parking area when you pull in and you can park wherever you want, unload, and ride. I have always gone during the week. When you pull in you just park and start riding. At some point during the day the owner will find you near your vehicle and hit you up for the fee and have you sign a waiver. It has always been pretty low key. As far as the silencer thing goes, last year they were forced to close down for a short time due to noise complaints. I think the silencer thing was started to make others happy. I don't think it will be an issue at all as long as there are no hacked up hollow silencers screaming around. Also unless they improved it, the practice track as they call it is a few small jumps and turns that are not groomed. It is a fun place to ride though!

Posted by: RM_guy

How a bout the weekend of the 21st and 22nd? I'll only make it one of the days.

Posted by: WoodsRider

I have weekends off, but could squeeze in a weekday with two-weeks notice. How about a Friday/Saturday... 6/20 & 6/21?

Posted by: Papakeith

weekend of the 21-22 works for me.
How crowded does it get on the weekends?

I worry about the noise level because my bike (even when freshly packed) is louder than most.

I could probably get the friday off too so the 20th works as well.

Posted by: wayneo426

How about July 20, 2001? Its a Friday, and if you wanted to stay overnight, you could. Not sure how crowded it will be on the weekend, but would expect there to be many more riders. I would probably just stay for the day, get there early, leave around 5-6pm. How bout some feedback???

Posted by: weimedog

If "Modena" is the same Modena I used to race at until late 80's it has a really fun track. Its also far enough off any road (unless there has been a ton of development) where I doubt that sound restriction will be all that strickly dealt with. Since they raced for years I can't believe MX bikes would not be welcome. See if District 34 has a web site and Modena is still on the schedule. We hope to be out there by August. Maybe sooner. So if all the star's, the moon, and the planets all line up right we can also attend.

One of the best places out that way I remembered was the track at Montecello NY. Out RT17. They had a club and also ran Hare Scrambles type events there. Better track, a river to get cool in and lots of surrounding woods. Wonder if they are still alive. Of all the district 34 riding area's that would be the best. Thats if after 10 years it still exists!

So what about Broome Tioga? They have a riding park out there? It was an AWESOME track 10 years ago.

Posted by: Silver Bullet

Wayne,
July 20 th would work for me especially since it is a Friday (I guess you remembered I'm off Fridays). Modena will be fun for the day or overnight. There's plenty of room to ride and it will be great just to meet some of the people here and put faces to names. By the way, if the track is open this week and it doesn't rain I'm going to try for this Thursday again.

Posted by: wayneo426

Allright, Im in for July 20! Anyone else? Lets nail this thing down!

Bullet, Im going to go on Thursday, provided no rain. Lets try to hook up out there.
Email me later in the week with your plans.

Posted by: RM_guy

If anyone is coming through Binghamton on the way there, let me know and we can have a mini caravan.

Weimedog,
Broome Tioga is a nice track but it is strictly MX. They do have practice sessions but it could get crowded.

Posted by: MoToMaNYz125

[hey whats up, i saw your pics, is that of you son? my name is mike by the way im from long island where are you from im assuming up-state, i was supposed to go to the binghampton national but i coudnt well gotta go so ill ctch ya later

Posted by: RM_guy

Mike,
I live in Binghamton and the Binghamton Nats are to only race that I ALWAYS make it too. My son is Jake and there is a picture of him jumping in my pictures.

Later

Posted by: LoriKTM

Put us down for a definite "maybe"! Just have to convince the hubby that he needs to spend another vacation day...

RM_Guy, we'll probably be driving through Binghamton on our way out there. Let's hook up as the date gets closer!

Posted by: Papakeith

I don't want this one to die!
Who can make it on the 20-21?
I am going to assume this will be an unorganized SF. Whoever shows, shows.
Another question. What kind of riders are planning on attending?
I want some major spodely companions if I am going to make the trip.
Also, how do we go about finding one another?
At this point, I can also give a definite maybe. Actually, it's more of a definite, than a maybe.

Posted by: wayneo426

Papakeith,
Having never really been to an organized spodefest, I couldnt tell you if this will be the same or not. Im sure most of us plan on doing alot of riding, having some lunch, riding some more, and probably packing it up, and going home. Of course, those staying overnight/camping, will have their own festivities going on. I will be one of those packing it up, and heading out when the day is done. With 400 acres of trails and some mx, (?), there will be alot of roosting going on, thats for sure.
I think there is only one parking area, so it shouldnt be too hard to find.

Posted by: RM_guy

I plan on getting there Friday (7/20) morning around 9 or 10 and leaving by 6.

I’ve never been there, is there a good place to meet? Papakeith has a good point. I will have a red Dodge Dakota with at least 1 Suzuki in the back and DRN stickers on bike and truck. Hopefully LoriKTM and Dave will be in tow along with more I hope.

Posted by: Papakeith

I haven't been to any spode Fest organized or otherwise before either. That's why I'm asking, 'cause it's all new to me.

I should be fairly easy to spot. Both my bike and my truck have DRN stickers.

Is anyone planning on doing the overnight?

Posted by: Silver Bullet

The park itself is not far off of the highway (15 mins maybe). If it is a Friday we should have no problem finding each other. There is only 1 parking area when you come in. The parking area is what used to be a campground so it is easy to just set up and park. I have usually gone there fairly early in the morning and I am usually the first and only one there until at least noon time. If we just plan to meet at the park we will have no trouble locating each other. Especially with DRN stickers on display :D . For anyone who hasn't checked the website yet go to www.atvnewyork.com .

Posted by: Silver Bullet

I live in Nassau. I usually head upstate or to PA to ride but I just went to the new track in Yaphank yesterday. It was too muddy to tell for sure but it looks like a pretty cool track. Where do you ride out there?

Posted by: MoToMaNYz125

sup, my friend had a race at yaphank today, i want to go so bad, i ride at a track we got in the woods is a prretty nice track we got i ride with my bro and my friends

Posted by: WoodsRider

July 20th it is! I'll put in my vacation request today.

Anyone going to bring a non-riding spouse/significant other to the fest?
If yes, then Mrs. Woods and I will do the overnight thing.

Lori - Tell Dave if I'm burning a vacation day, he'd better burn one too. Do you think these Nu Yawkers would enjoy fried turkey?

Woods, I'll apply the peer pressure tactic to Dave, and have him take the day off! I don't know about anyone else, but we sure liked the fried turkey! Might have to marinate it in some Speide sauce to the the natives to buy into it, eh RM_Guy?

Albany Area here. Anyone else?

There's also a great riding facility in Eagle Bridge NY. They are on the net. If you want to check them out click here

That would sure ruin a good bird. I'll bring some cajun marinate back from Houston. Don't worry, I'll get the mild stuff.

Who's bringing the potato salad?

If it has wings we'll eat it! But I dont know about that Speide sauce......care to divulge the ingredients?

It's a secret and if I told you I'd have to marinate you and feed you to the locals:scream:

Posted by: wayneo426

I couldnt find Spode in the dictionary a while back, maybe I'll see if Speide is in there.....

Posted by: WoodsRider

I may just have to bring the grill and cook some REAL tex-mex fajitas... but enough of that, let's talk about the fest!

Has anyone contacted this Modena place?
Will they be able to accomodate a small gathering?
What will be the cost?
How many are planning to be there and what dates?
Shall we plan some activities (poker run, barrel races, slow race, etc.)?

Maybe the answers are in this thread, I'm just too lazy to read every post.

Posted by: wayneo426

Woodsy,
I hear its $25 per person per day. They have over 400 acres of riding, so that should be enough for us. I dont know how much stuff we can cram into a day, but Im game, as long as I can get some monkey-butt going.

Posted by: Papakeith

I will plan on getting there on early Friday Morning. I'm still trying to talk my wife into going(she's a non-rider). If I can't get her to make the trip, I will probably be bringing my nephew(24) with me.

Can you camp right there? If we can, I will probably stay overnight.

Posted by: k47k

I ride at Modena (ATVNewYork) everyweekend so here is the official scoop...

its $25 / day $5 for spectators
they have 400 acres with mostly apple orchards
Rock Quarry with some hills etc.
woods with rocks / roots
lakes / streams and tons of mud if it rains.

the practice track is basically one tabletop with a few turns.

As far as meeting up with everyone... Its not possible to go the whole day without passing the same person 10 times.

The weekends get a decent amount of people... it sucks when a ton of quad show up and make it a dust bowl.

Get a hard count and i can talk to the owner. I dont see a problem brining a group of people. the more the merrier for him.

Unless you take your exhaust totally off you wont have a problem. There are some pretty freekin loud 426s that ride there without a problem.

They just had a big hare scramble there in april so the course is still kinda mapped out but its basically ride anywhere you want.

any other questions let me know.

Posted by: wayneo426

Silver Bullet
Kevin?
Woods Rider
RM_GUY
Papakeith
XR600?
LoriKTM
Dave
Me
Danny
And 3 more "maybes"
We can figure around 10 "for sures". If I left anyone out, sorry. Just let us know whether you can make it or not. The more the dirtier!
Can you make it K47K?

Posted by: k47k

Yes! you can camp right in the park it maybe like $10 a night.

I live about 10 minuites from the park so i will probably be there. i will be the guy on the '01 KTM 400mxc that is not very good but is having a ball!

for those of you planning to be there on friday let me know, ill take off work and meet you there.

10 people will be no problem at all... there was over 400 for the harescramble and a load of campers.

email @ jyoungma@us.ibm.com

Posted by: RM_guy

I can only make it Friday. I think everyone is planning on Friday for sure and some are staying overnight. Hopefully it won’t be as crowded on Friday. I plan on arriving between 9 and 9:30 and leaving by 6:00.

I will have 2 yellow (very bright yellow) Suzuki 10x10 easy-ups so I shouldn’t be hard to miss. I’m going be dragging 1 or 2 friends and my son with me too.

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

Only 1 jump!?

I was going to sneak up there without telling anyone, but if they don't have a real MX track...

Is the location definite? (I haven't been keeping up with the thread).

It’s going to be at Modena. There is a link to their web site in the above posts. Yeah, that’s right, I’m gonna make you read through them.

Posted by: WoodsRider

This could be a real treat!

Will we get to see some of those fine hillclimb ghosting skills of yours?
How 'bout Mrs. Gomer and the little Gomers?
Have you taught that kid how to cross logs while hillclimbing yet?

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

You guys weren't listening...I would have tried to make it if it were at an MX track, but I can't really justify it for trail riding.

Guess I'll have to wait until September to throw dirt on the yellow bike from NY.

Posted by: RM_guy

Gomer, We only hear what we want to hear. Besides, I thought you’d jump at any chance you had to roost me

Posted by: cr5_bklyn

Finally found some people going to Modena. I have been meaning to get down there as I live in Woodstock, NY. (1 exit off the thruway) July is good for me. if anyone has any questions about the place, i can run over there to check out how busy it gets on a weekend. How many people are going as of now?

I also heard of plans to open a riding area on Staten island. Not sure of how far along it is. Not sure i want to ride in a landfill though... :http://www.simotocross.com

Cheers,

Posted by: wayneo426

Yes, the plan is for Modena on July 20, 2001. Thats a Friday, if your not looking at your calendar. Try to make it, as most of us New Yawkas will be there for some good old dirt.
At the moment it looks like 12-15 people may show. Some will camp out overnight. See you there.

Posted by: RM_guy

What about some of you guys in the Albany area? BRush, Shaw520,Rob Mann???

Posted by: Tree Crippler

Where is this funky called Modena? I know I have the 13,14 off but don't know when I'm working the next week.

Posted by: RM_guy

Here is a link to a map to the place here

I also added this event to the calender

Posted by: wayneo426

Guys,
We will be making a test run up to Modena next week. I'll let you know how it looks, and if that scramble layout is still intact.

Posted by: BRush

RM_guy, I had a little trouble with that link. The forum software chokes if the URL is too long. Has anyone posted the Lembo Lake (aka Modena) website? It has a link to driving directions:

Modena Web Page

So, is Friday 7/20 the date? Will there be fun to be had for spodely 40+ trail riders, or is this gonna be a big-air MX fest? At the moment I'm a definite "maybe".

Posted by: RM_guy

Sorry about the long link. Try this link to Expediamaps here and type in modena for the location. Ever since I stumbled accross Expedia I have used it a lot. They give you very good maps. The directions on the Modena site are good but I personally like a map to look at.

I'm 40+ and consider myself spodely so you'll have company. I think their MX track has 1 jump from what I've read so there won't be much air (except Woodsrider's HOT air)

I plan on getting there between 9 and 10 Friday morning (7/20)

BRush - From my understanding there is no "big-air" at Modena. I don't wan't to hear any of this "maybe" talk either! It's time to break out the camping supplies... unless it's going to be hotter than the Mustang Ranch on two for one night!

We're planning on being at Harpursville on Sunday as well, Woods.

RM_Guy, maybe you'd better make a double batch of those Speides!

Posted by: Shaw520

Hey guys, thats what I get for not checking ALL the forums, Yea man, count me in, a mini-NY-fest would be stokin', I got at least 3-4 others who'll come too. Ive heard they improved the course since I was there,(last year) but when I went, there was alot of rocks and ruts in some nasty swamps, and not much else. But no reason why I wouldnt try it again. There are better places to ride in the area, but the problem is without an established "park" we stand the chance of having issues with property owners. When people are traveling alot of miles to attend, we want to be sure things go smoothly. I'm not sure if Walden still has woods riding, but they have a great park and MX tracks (2) www.waldenmx.com and another www.acemotocross.com Im not sure if these places still have H/S woods loops or not, but I will look into it.

Posted by: RM_guy

I’m open to any location in the area. If it does change let’s make sure everyone knows the new location. We can even go to a different place every year (or every 6 months) if we want to.

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

Make up your minds!! If you do end up changing it to a track that has jumps, I'll try to swing up that way.

Posted by: wayneo426

Its about time you found your way to this thread buddy! I emailed you to let you know what was up, but didnt hear from you-thats ok. Looking forward to checking out that big orange 520! So far, the plan looks like ATVNY, (Modena), but Im open to change if thats what the people want. Im looking forward to some great riding, trails, mx, whatever. I already have the day off, so I dont really give a ....
If most of you guys and gals dont care, we should probably leave it as it is-July 20, @ATVNY in Modena. We can ALWAYS do this again, maybe a month later, somewhere else. But if there are some opposed to the current place, post your preference asap, so we can make changes if necessary. As I said before, I dont care where it is-I have plenty of gas,:scream: , and the day off! Can we get a vote goin here?!?! YEE-HAW!!

Posted by: Shaw520

Wayne, dont let me make any changes in your plans, Modena is fine with me and I'll be there no matter where we end up. Maybe we can have a 90' double installed for Gomer! Heck, we wouldnt want him to come all that way just to waddle around in some slimmy swamp, or would we, :D

Wayne, I sent you an e-mail, give me a call!

Posted by: WoodsRider

I say let's keep the date and place... now I've got to convince Mrs. Woods into letting me go!

The 19th is her birthday and our anniversary... she wanted to keep it simple for me so I'd only have one date to remember. Problem is, if I ever forget that date, I'm toast. :scream:

Posted by: wayneo426

Hey Woodsy,
Our anniversary is the 18th, and she wanted to go out Friday night to celebrate, but I got tix to a show, and a res at some fancy-shmancy restaurant on Sat nite, so I would be free on the 20th! All it takes is a little peck, (and a few prayers), here and there........ Keep trying!

Posted by: LoriKTM

Looks like Dave and I are in! We'll probably leave early Friday morning, and stay over until Saturday morning, or so.

Posted by: RM_guy

Does anyone know the best route to Modena from the west? I plan on taking Rt 17 to Liberty, then 52 to Ellenville, then 209 and 44 to Modena.

Does that sound like the best way? That’s the way I used to go to Kingston for business. The park’s web site doesn’t show a route from where I’m coming from.

Posted by: wayneo426

RM_guy,
Try the mapquest site:
www.mapquest.com
That should give you the most direct route.
We went to ATVNY yesterday. Some great riding in the open, but some of the woods were REALLY swampy. Just ask Kevin at the SpodeFest on the 2oth, (hee-hee).:D

Posted by: WoodsRider

Okay, Mrs. Woods granted me parole... er... permission to go.

Water in the woods? Hey BRush, you hear that? Can't be too much different from catraland.

Posted by: Papakeith

How many non-riders are going?
I have the wifes blessings on the trip, but I would like her to come along. She doesn't want to if she is just going to sit by the truck all day alone.
Can't really blame her.

Posted by: WoodsRider

Two weeks and counting.
Who's ready?

Posted by: wayneo426

The rocket is on the launching pad, and we are ready to go! Two weeks and counting.

BTW, the grill looked pretty beat up:scream: , so I recommend bringing your own, if not just deli stuff.

Dave - Who needs Gomer when you're going to be there.

The difference is that I'm not afraid of the woods. May it has something to do with easy access to "pokin' sticks"

<sniff><sniff> If you'd had the experiences in the woods that I've had, you'd be skeered, too! :scream:

Posted by: wayneo426

The MX track reallywasnt. It consisted of a few berms, and some turns, a couple small jumps, but I wouldnt consider it a track. Sorry Gomer. We did find a few jumps though! Especially in the pit......

What's that?...do I hear the music from Deliverence playing in the back gound

Posted by: WoodsRider

That's right Ned... er... RM_guy.
Say, ya gotta real purty mouth.

Posted by: Papakeith

The cast comes of Tuesday!! That gives me almost two weeks to get my wrist back to good.
I can't wait!!
Is there a need for fire wood? Are there any pits for fires?
:think
We don't need any NY tags or anything do we? I would hate to get there and need some tag, or permit or something to ride.

Woods Rider, It looks like my significant other will not be making the trip. I asked her again this morning and she said that she didn't want to go.

Posted by: Tree Crippler

This stinks. I have the the 13,14,15 off with nothing to do. I get out of work at midnight the 20 and have the 21 off.

Lori when is your clubs weekend long funride?

Posted by: LoriKTM

Tree,

I don't think our club is doing the fun ride this year, unless you're referring to the HAM dice run, which was in May. We are having a second harescrambles in October. If anything else comes up, I'll let you know.

Dave and I are GO for July 20th. We will probably pack up early Saturday, as we are going to drive down to PA for the Rattlesnake Enduro. A whole weekend of abuse! I can't wait.

Hey GOLFrider, oops, I mean WOODSrider, are you going?

Posted by: RM_guy

I think Woods is going but be careful, he seems a bit touchy about his camera for some reason.

Lori,
When will you and Dave be coming through Binghamton? If 7:00 is too early just let me know when.

Posted by: WoodsRider

Watch it Lori , RM_guy is already begging for a soil sample and the GG can throw up some mean roost... just ask BRush.

Both the boss and the Mrs. granted me a hall pass for the day. And if I play my cards right, I'll get to ride the NETRA enduro over in MA on Sunday too.

BTW - You and warrior boy need to come up here one weekend for a ride at catraland. Especially since you need experience climbing hills.

Posted by: Trigger1911

:scream: I made it! I can post now! The Trigger man is in the house!

Count me in for Spodefest NY. I will be there Friday the 20th early morning and will probably stay overnight. I have an enclosed trailer thats white with "LAWNMASTER, LEHIGH VALLEY, PA" on the sides and back. Gas grill, Generator or anything else needed? Beer for when the ride is over? How many are coming and how many staying overnight? I am coming from the Allentown area of PA. Riders welcome!

Posted by: LoriKTM

We got plenty of hills at our club grounds, Mr. Woodsrider. Just ask the riders of last weekend's enduro! (Well, maybe you shouldn't. Over half of the riders DNF'd the event because a little rain made the challenging hills a weight lifting exercise instead).
Problem is, every free day has been spent attending the HS or working at the club grounds cleaning trail. I haven't had a chance to go "play" riding. The ride in Modena will be the first in about a month. I'm hoping the 12oz flywheel will help on those snotty hills.
You and Dave can have roost contests to see whether the KTM or GG 250 wins.

Posted by: wayneo426

I hope you guys are ready for another-you know the 426 gives a sweet dirt shower! :scream:
Getting close now, only 9 days......

Posted by: WoodsRider

Lori - You guys need to get out more. Keep Aug 8th open, that's the next open house. The hills around here make Buffalo Pit look easy.

wayneo - The contest is who can roost RM_guy the most (worst), not who can throw the most roost... like there's a difference.

Posted by: OffRoadWarrior

Should I bring our utility quad so that we've got something to pull RM_guy out of the massive pile of dirt that will be forming around him as soon as everybody gets their bikes started?

You're right woods, the hills at buffalo pit are girly by comparison, but Lori's problem isn't the size of the hills its the combo of size, all them darn rocks and the fact that it has rained for each of the last three harescrambles that we've been to.:scream:

We have been really busy though. You know its bad when you've got 2+ miles of trail in your back yard and you can't find time to ride it. I think we all ought to get wednesdays off during the summer. Call your congressman!

How many of ya'll are planning on going to the Unadilla outdoor national?

Yeah, yeah, yeah AssAss guy. What I think is that you just might be more scared than Gomer (if THAT’S possible), otherwise you wouldn’t be such a Sally girl sissy whiner. Gee, I hope there aren’t any ruts at Modena. I’d hate to see you do another face plant like you did at Lori and Dave's.

BTW, what comes around goes around. I only have one ride in on my new tires and they still have nice sharp mud flinging edges on them

Posted by: WoodsRider

FYI RM_gay - That was a shoulder plant I did at Dave and Lori's.

We'll just see how that RM handles the trees and mud. Just because you've got handsavers, a pipe guard and an S-12 doesn't mean you can bash bark with the rest of us woods spodes.

Oh, and watch you fuel tap! When you least expect it, EXPECT IT!

Posted by: DANIEL JOSEPH

You know I'm tempted to go to this just to see who's capable of talking and who's capable of roosting.

Posted by: WoodsRider

Dan - Come on out. Dave and I are just havin' a little fun on here... the real fun starts when all of us get to riding together at Modena. Spode or pro we'll all have fun, cause that's what ridin' dirtbikes is all about.

Posted by: DANIEL JOSEPH

I'm thinking about it. The only thing holding me back is the enduro on Sunday (Don't want to hurt the old bike or body) and I'm trying to find someone to take the ride up there with me. I'm on Vacation for the next two weeks , so time off is no problem.

Posted by: RM_guy

Yea, come on down Dan. Have some fun

It will more than likely turn into a "who is more spodely" contest. I can't even SPELL rost, much less fling it (he says to give the competition a false sense of security).

I can see it now:

WoodsRider: Whimper, whimper. I have a hang nail so I think I’ll sit out the next loop.

RM_guy: Oh yeah? Sniff, sniff. I think I bruised a cuticle and I’m afraid.

WoodsRider: Well, OK, I think I have arm um, a…yeah that’s it, arm pump so I may just pack up and head out

RM_guy: Gee, I just ate so I better wait a few hours before I try to ride again so I don’t get stomach cramps.

WoodsRider: I really was going to ride over that log but I was so scared I crapped my pants and couldn’t sit down.

RM_guy: That’s funny. I’ve never done that before.

(Man I need to get out more:confused: )

Posted by: WoodsRider

Dave - When did you stop taking your medication?

Posted by: Trigger1911

With all this lovely sniveling you guys are going through, I think I may just fit in. What are you guys like when your drinkin'? When I get too spodely my head swells so much I can't wear my helmet. Will that be a problem? Its filled with rocks anyway. What about the 38 stitches that hold my guts in (minus my colon)? How about the rods in my spine? Can I ride with this stuff? Its not your standard gear you know. Did I mention i'm blind also? I am still looking forward to Modena as long as I dont get hurt before I go to Sturgis in 3 weeks!

Finally, a form of competition I have a shot at! Will there be bench racing too?

Count me in.

BRush,
You don't stand a chance! If there is a tree to be found in a 1/2 mile radius of the trail, I can assure you that my front tire will find the exact center of the trunk!
Prepare to be amused!
only 4 work days left.( I have today off)

Posted by: LoriKTM

To The Top!

Friday looks to be partly cloudy, around 80 degrees.

Dave & I are going to meet RM_Guy around 7:30 Friday morning. Should be rolling into Modena sometime after 10:00am.

Who's in? Sound off!

Posted by: RM_guy

I'll be there

Even if it rains (Bill)

Posted by: Papakeith

My schedule is cleared! If all goes well, I should be rolling in around 9:00am Friday morning.
I will be staying overnight.
I may even bring another rider(if he can get his bike going)

Posted by: Trigger1911

I AM IN!!! Rain or shine! Sound off. See you there unless something drastic happens. Have a safe trip everyone!

Posted by: Trigger1911

By the way, I should be there by 11:00am friday and plan to stay overnight.

Posted by: wayneo426

We should be roosting by around 9:30, so those of you on the way, we'll meet up by the pit area!
Yee-haaww!

Posted by: WoodsRider

Hey Dave, if it rains you'll have an excuse for being wet and muddy.

I'm Planning to get there around 9:00/9:30. Just look for the funny lookin' bike. Won't be staying overnight. Have to go home and get ready for the Tri-State Enduro on Sunday.

Posted by: Shaw520

Looks like work will have me strapped on Friday, unfortunatly,...I never know untill the last minute, but with rain in the forcast, looks like I'll be playing catch-up all week.
Now Sunday is another story, its against my religion to work on Sun. So, Wayne,..we'll probaly be going back to Hardscrabble on Sun, if there are any leftovers from Friday, bring them over there!

Posted by: Trigger1911

Where is this Rattlesnake enduro and Hare scramble everyone is talking about for sunday? I might go along depending on where it is.

Posted by: LoriKTM

Trigger,

We'll be at the Rattlesnake on Sunday. It is being held in Cross Fork, PA.
Check www.ecea.org for more details.

Posted by: WoodsRider

I'll be going to the Tri-State Enduro... provided bike and body survive the spodefest. :scream:
http://www.netra.org

Posted by: jib

Dirtybkr and I will be there.

Posted by: BRush

The weather reports for Friday are promising (that sound you hear is me knocking on wood as I write this!). I'll be there rain or shine.

Posted by: RM_guy

Yep, I’m ready to go as soon as I put a new piston and rings in my bike and rebuild the crank tonight. Just kidding, I did that last night.

Looks like perfect weather for tomorrow. I assume Gomer is in transit.

Posted by: Trigger1911

Its 4:30 on thursday the 19th. I can't wait, I am leaving now and staying overnight. If you get there early wake my ass up. Just look for the enclosed white trailer that says "LAWNMASTER" across the sides and back. Lets do it! Safe trip everyone.

Posted by: wayneo426

Hey Trigger, dont worry if some freak wakes you up in the middle of the night, its only the
"Caretaker". Hee-Hee.....:scream:

Greg, sorry you cant make it. If things go your way, we'll be riding til' around 6pm.
I should be in for the MTA ride on the 29th.
I'll let you know.

Posted by: pyrofreak

How did it go? And when might there be another one?

Posted by: RM_guy

That was our first ride together and we had a great time. Now we have been meeting at Paragon Adventure park in Hazleton, PA. We have a spring ride usually in May and a fall ride in October. The next one is Oct, 19th. There is a thread on it in this forum. Hope to see you there

Posted by: Trigger1911

Did someone pull this thread out of an archive? Its 2 years old!!!!

Posted by: RedWingDS

i noticed that too, would have went back in time to the ride but my Deloran is in the shop.
nothing a gagillion gigawatts couldnt fix.

Posted by: RM_guy

Yeah I had to check the thread to see exactly which ride this was. Modena seems like a lifetime ago!

Hi Wayne! Eric M. Krobath here...RM guy listed a ph. # that is no longer working to contact me, as I've rented out my shop to where that # used to connect. My cell # is (516) 661-4246 I'm VERY interested in spodefest [whatever the heck that means], as well as maybe hosting the ride at MY place in Deposit,N.Y. where the Ridge Riders MC used to do part of their fall enduro 'till last year when they decided to run the entire race @ a logging camp in Hancock,N.Y. I'm actually looking to develop my place into a N.Y. Motorsports Park for 2,3, & 4 wheel dirtbikes. I'm open to all suggestions, so feel free to e-mail me directly @ erickrobath@msn. My place is on China Rd. in Deposit about 4-5 mls. from Rt.17, easy to get to, fully paved roads right to my driveway. I'm also a contributing writer for L.I. Rides magazine, so I could cover spodefest & get some local ink for it as well. The Oct. '06 ridge rider Enduro was covered in it by me; if you can get a copy of that issue, there's three pages on it! Contact me, as I'm an avid supporter of wheeled sports, belong to AMA, AHRMA, LIKA, & own over 55 bikes, as well as 5 karts which I race locally as well. I have a flamed Harley[1st custom street Harley I EVER built] on display in the front window of my house next to 100+mph vintage Margay enduro kart, soon to be joined by custom mini Super Rat I'm bringing home from this Fla. trip I'm presently on. Full bike/kart shop in "crawlspace" of my house as well. We can have some crazy ass rides @ my place in Deposit, let me tell ya'! Contact me. I'll be home from this trip on Fri. Jan.4th,'08. Peace, & Regards, Eric aka Mr. Mean St.

Posted by: Shaw520

Mr Mean,
Check the origination date of this thread, there have been many get-togethers since then. But what you are describing sounds like it could be a hit. I know the riding area you are talking about and it is centrally located. Might be a great way to start of the year with a NY Spode/Dirtfest. If you're serious we could start a new thread and see what we could put together!

Shaw
