rules for Fantasy SX/MX

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: oldguy

Here are the rules.
New rule change allows bonus 10 pts if you pick and designate the 125 class third place rider (see rule 6B)
The 2008 AMA Super cross series is scheduled to start Saturday January 5, 2008 at Anaheim, CA and along with it DRN is again running a Fantasy SX season (if sufficient interest is shown). This is your chance to manage your own teams to compete against one another for the title DRN Fantasy SX Champ. There will be a $10 entry fee of which 100% will be paid back (at least 5 places will split it) at the season end.
A brief rundown of the rules will follow:

1) Any registered DRN member is eligible to play.

2) Entry fee must be paid prior to the 3rd race - no points will be awarded if the fee is not paid. Entries should be mailed to Dave Hollub 7305 Bergman Rd, Sauk City, WI 53583
Payable to; Dave Hollub or thru Paypal email address dthollub@hughes.net

3) Race deadlines- Teams must be chosen no later than 11:59 P.M., (DRN time is Official), the Friday before the race (Example race on Saturday January 5, 2008 deadline Friday January 4, 2008 at 11:59PM ).

4) Teams- Must be chosen each race and will consist of 6 riders
A)2 riders must be 125cc, 2 must be 250cc, and the remaining 2 may be either class
B)a maximum of 2 riders may be retained for back to back races (you must pick a minimum of 4 new riders every race but may pick up to 6. If you keep 3 from prior race the highest scoring rider will be eliminated)
C)the bonus 3rd place 125 class rider does not have to be a member of your 6 man team and if not on your 6 man team will not count against your 2 carryover riders the next week.
D) It will be the responsibility of the team manager to determine if their riders are out due to injury or ineligibility

5) Posting teams- should be posted in the fantasy forum under an official thread for that race (the one listing bonus riders) or emailed to me at dthollub@wi.rr.com Prior to the deadline

6) Scoring- Points will be assigned riders using the official AMA results as posted on the official MX results page http://www.sxgp.com/
A) each week random riders will be designated as bonus riders and if they place in the top 10 their score that race will be doubled. If a rider races both classes his points only double in the declared bonus class, but he will be awarded the points for the other class also.

B) a bonus 10 pts will be awarded if you designate the third place rider of the 125 class (this will be done by posting him along with the designation as overall 3rd- he may be a rider separate from your team picks)
If he is not one of your 6 riders use designation 3rd not a pick

C) The total of that weeks riders scores will determine the weekly results and will determine each weeks podium place.

D) Podium place will be awarded ‘X' points (example if 20 teams 1st place gets 25, 2nd gets 22, 3rd gets 20, 4th gets 18, 5th gets 16, 6th gets 15, then on down by 1 pts each place til 20th gets 1. If fewer teams the points will be adjusted.

E) Ties each week will result in points being combined and averaged (tie at 4th 18+ 16=34 points each team gets 17 points)

7) Season standings- only podium placement points will carry and determine season standings The season champ is based on this total- Ties at end of season will be broken by most 1st podium places (followed by 2nd and on down til tie is broken).

8) Prizes- Cash pay back will be awarded at season end, percentages and number of places paid Back will be determined by number of teams competing (the more entered the more places Paid out). 100% of entry fees will be paid out as prizes.
I will post each weeks results as soon as I can -normally no later than Monday following the race usually much sooner. Remember this is for fun and neither DRN or myself is responsible for lost or missed team posts

Please as a favor to me if you want to use riders nicknames use only known accepted ones-DO NOT MAKE ONE UP - If I cannot figure out who you mean I won't give points.

Ok guys I have updated the rules for 2005 Outdoors nationals and am ready to answer questions. The fantasy season helps spur your interest in following the series. Don't get discouraged in the first couple weeks but be sure to consider the bonus riders and don't forget to pick the 3rd place 125 rider for the extra 10 points.

Posted by: oldguy

Also forgot about the [B]Pitsally award[B/] which goes to the team which has the most last place 125 class finishes over the season :scream:

I will kick in $20 for this prize

whats the 10 bucks for if your gonna pay it back?

WideOpen... the fees all get paid back to the top finishers at the end of the season. For example, if 20 people compete ($10x20=$200) then the $200 may be paid out to the top 5 (or so) something similar to:

1st $90
2nd $50
3rd $30
4th $20
5th $10

I have one quick question. We can carry over 2 riders from week to week. I'm assuming we could carry over the same 2 for each race if we choose to do so...right? For example, I could choose Bubba, and Preston for the 125 class, and pick 4 new 250 riders each week? I know this may sound like I'm getting technical, but I'm new this year, and want to make sure I'm playing within the rules and don't get penalized. Thanks!! :thumb:

You have it correct. It doesn't matter who you choose to carry over (if you even choose to carry anyone) as long as you don't carry more then 2 from the previous race.
One tip don't carry Bubba and Preston during the 125 East

By team you mean pick a ridder correct? I'm kind of confused. . .So all we realy do is pick 3 ridders from the 125cc class. If they finish in the top spots we get points? who ever has the most points at the end of the season wins? If someone could make this clearer for me that would be great thanks! :thumb:

MM you need to pick a team of 6 riders (2 must be 125 and 2 must be 250 the other 2 can be from either class) each race. the next weeks race you again need to pick 6 more riders the only catch is you can only keep 2 from the race before ( you don't have to keep any if you don't want to).
example
week 1
125 class- Stewart, D Smith 250's-Pastrana, rc, ferry, and reed

week 2
125 class- stewart, jesseman, sorby 250 class-rc, wey, larocco

week 3
125 class- laninovich, bess, short, hamblin 250 class ferry, reed

now there is also a bonus for picking the overall 3rd place 125 rider- he can but does not need to be a member of you 6 man team
this rider is marked either as example
stewart(3rd and a pick)- if he is part of your 6 man team
stewart (3rd not a pick)- if he is not a part of the 6 man team
this bonus rider if not part of the 6 man team will not be counted as a repick for the following week.

now that you ahve that the scoring is as follows
at the end of the day the riders have their points from the 2 motos- in the DRN MX I will add up you riders scores as given by the AMA (bonus riders get their points doubled if they finish in the top 10). This score gives you your place for that week. based on your position you will be awarded podium points.
example if there are 20 teams 1st=25pts, 2nd=22pts, 3rd=20pts, 4th=18pts, 5th=16pts, 6th=15pts then each position equals 1 point less until 20th=1pt. these points will be given each race based on your weekly finish and will be added to get your season standings.
example
1st week you score 210 points which is 3rd place you get 20 podium points. your season standing would be 20 points

week 2 you get 1000 points which is 1st place- you get 25 podium points. your season standing is 45 points and would be good for xx place.

week 3 you score 1 point which is 20th place- you get 1 podium point. Your season standing is now 46 points and would be good for zz place.

the weekly scores just count for that weeks place- the podium points are what determines where you are in the season standings

I'm confused on this 125 3rd rider pick thingy. I read rule 6B, but am confused.

So the way I understand it, the 3rd 125 bonus rider listed, is worth 10 extra points if he gets third? But he may be a rider seperate from our picks? That mean we can pick 7 riders then??? I'm slow I guess.

Posted by: nikki

Sounds like you got it....

You must pick a 125 rider who you think will get 3rd. If he gets 3rd, then you get 10 bonus points.

He can be one of your regular picks (then you will have 6 riders total)

Like:

125's:
Bubba
Jesseman
Preston - 3rd and a pick

250's:
RC
Reed
K-Dub

--or--

He can not be one of your picks (then you will have 7 riders).

Like:

125's:
Bubba
Jesseman
Preston
Short - 3rd not a pick

250's:
RC
Reed
K-Dub

Make sure to label your pick for the 3rd place 125 rider and if he is or isn't a pick.

You must still have 2 regular riders minimum in each class and you can only carry 2 regular riders from the previous week.

I love fantasy MX/SX! :thumb:

Ah I get it now. So if I choose 7 riders then, then one of the 125 riders I can randomly choose who will get 3rd? By labeling him "not a pick" Does he still get 10 extra bonus points? Like in the case you made, with Short. Thanks nikki.

Posted by: nikki

If you pick 7 like this:

125's:
Bubba
Jesseman
Preston
Short - 3rd not a pick

250's:
RC
Reed
K-Dub

Then you will get points for your regular 6 (everyone except Short) based on their finish. If Short gets 3rd, then you will get 10 bonus points (but no points based on his finish because only your 6 regular picks count). If Short does not get 3rd, then you get no points for him.

Would I be correct to assume that we find out who the randon riders are after the race is over? How many random riders will be picked each week?

Posted by: oldguy

Go to the thread designated as the pick thread and each time the bonus guys will be listed at the beginning
usually 5 riders for each class (las Vegas may get extras so each coast is coverred)

ok, where exactly do I go to bet?

Lots of talk about it, but no directions.

Posted by: oldguy

Tony I start a thread each race with the bonus riders for that race this weeks is here http://dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread.php?t=108752
There is not a "bet" each race but a $10 entry and then the entry $ is split between the seasons top teams . Usually we have split it 5 ways based on 18 to 20 teams but if we get more teams I'll pay out extra places.
