so i am walking my bike to the near by train tracks by my house yesterday, and some jacka$$ absolutely rips by on his cr 85! he then turns around and rips down the street... i take a short ride and go home, he is still at it, ripping down the street on his shorty equipped 2 stroker. i look down the street, and a good number of neighbours are standing outside their houses, watching him. i pulled him over and tried to explain to him that he is going to ruin riding in my area for everyone, but he is a dull- whitted brute and merely shrugs and says "durrr i don't care", and drives off... any suggestions in how i can get him to stop before neighbours call the cops and i cant ride anywhere close to my house!!?

Find him in the woods and beat him to within an inch of his life.

Yeah, I'm joking, but only just barely.

Kurt15.

As much as I like mtk's suggestion, I would only use that as a last resort.

May I suggest you follow the guy and find out where he lives. Then, go talk to your neighbors. Explain to your neighbors that you and most of your riding buddies respect the neighborhood and you have talked to this guy and tried to get him not to do that. Tell the neighbors where he lives and suggest that they call the police the next time he does that and send them to his address.

Sounds a little harsh? Well, if you don't do that then the police may come to your house. Most of your neighbors probably don't know the difference between you and him. They just see a dirt bike rider dressed in riding gear and a helmet and they can't tell one from another unless you point it out to them. If you take the time to let them know that you are a responsible rider and you respect them then they will be on your side. Otherwise, they will send the police to your house too.

It is up to us to police our own. If some riders are too stupid or arrogant to realize what their actions are doing to our sport then we need to take action. If you don't, I can guarantee you will lose your right to ride in the area. I've seen it happen.

If that doesn't work, then take mtk's suggestion.

This is the best way to handle this problem.(w/o going to jail)
Great advice Ol'89r.....

I've had the same thing happen in my neighborhood on a couple of occasions.

In the first incident the kid I flagged down knew that I raced MX. All I had to do was explain to him that what he was doing was inappropriate and informed him that the perception he was creating is damaging for all of us. He was a smart kid and would occasionally come by when I was in the garage working on my bike. But I never saw him race up and down the street again.

The next incident was different. This time the kid (approx. 16 years old) was running, 5th gear pinned, up and down the street. After I finally got him to stop he just flipped me off and went away. Two days later he was back. This time I rolled my KTM out to the sidewalk and flagged him down again. He stopped pretty quickly when he saw my bike. I told him that he looks like an idiot and that if he really wants to learn how to ride, he’s welcome to come join me for practice at one of the local tracks. Told him again that I NEVER want to see him riding an MX bike on the street, otherwise I will be the first one calling the Cops. He looked embarrassed this time. I never saw him again and I never found out where he lived, but at least he wasn’t riding in my neighborhood anymore.
