Some pretty funny stories there... I like the one from the guy with the four dogs that he would take to an ORV area, and then goes on to blame the motorcyclists and ATVer when his dogs would chase, bite and bark at them! Then the one from Jane the river guide who drove in her CAR to a distant location on a gravel road and had her precious meditation disturbed by ORVers. Hello??? You drove a motorized vehicle to get there!

I especially liked the guy complaining that OHVers ruined his ability to hunt and kill a bison that he had waited a long time to get a permit to do so. What a maroon! So disturbing some topsoil and running over some scrub brush is more egregious than killing a wild animal. Talk about a skewed viewpoint.

All those complaints were probally written by the same tree hugger.

Exactly what is "egregious" about killing a wild animal?
Do you get your steaks from the Meat Fairy?
As for disturbing someone's hunt with an ATV; in this area that kind of behavior could get you shot.
On the original point, that "topsoil and scrub brush" more than likely will take a very long time to recover. Bison breed more bison every year and the herd size is managed via hunting (since we killed off all their natural predators 100+ years ago). Next fall there will be a new bison in the dead one's place but those tire marks will still be there.

If you change a few words, their plight is the same as ours. Each group needs land to experience their own nirvana.
Why can't we join together to persuade the powers to be set aside more public land for ORV park while sustaining lands desireable for other users. ORV park lands would certainly be less desirable but with the proper organization and maintenance it should be compatible for its intended use. Also, memberships/registrations should be charged to all users (ORV and all others) of public lands to help defray costs of maintaining separate recreational areas.
The Loud Sucks campaign is great, but I don't think it will solve the fundemental problems that we as ORVers create: ecological destruction and noise. Like it or not, we have to be confined to specific areas. If enough ORV parks are created it just may cut down on illegal riding.
