Has anyone painted plastic panels? What system did you use that will adhere and stay flexible?

I havent done it on a bike, but I did have a project a few months ago were I had to spray some plastic parts. I used Krylon Fusion and it worked pretty well. Its designed for plastics and seems to stick much better than regular Rustoleum paint.

www.parasolinc.com makes a vinyl/plastic dye I hadn't tried it yet but I was thinking about for the tank on my ATK I've emailed them and they think it would hold up.
Its pricey though. I've tried Polyeurethane and it looked good for 6 monthes then started to bubble.

If you're not looking to change colors, try sanding. I've refurbished a lot of old plastic that way.

i have painted a lot of my plastic parts for my 85 yz125. I found that the krylon fusion for plastic works very well. there cheap to buy and adhere really well. wash your plastics with soap and water to remove dirt and any oil and you should be good.

That Krylon Fusion came off onto my boots after painting my side panels on the old RM370. I'd suggest finding NOS plastic over this stuff. Besides, it always looks like a paint job which never looks right on plastic parts.

i can't really argue there, thats true. so if i shouldn't use krylon fusion, than what other good paint will adhere to plastic and also be tough?

If you can't find any replacement plastics for your bike, take them off, wash them with a strong degreaser and comet(ajax),and then take them to a local bodyshop. There you can look threw there color books and find a color that soots you,They will sand them with 600 wet paper, promote them and spray a two stage color/clear with flex additive. Then they will holdup and look like the originals!! The promoter will aid in the adhere of the paint and the flex additive will alow it to give a little without cracking!!(now this excludes the tank unless it's metal) I'm a 17 year bodyman and have painted several plastic bumper covers and plastic parts in my time!!
