Hey guys, I'd a search and didn't find anything. I was looking at shell's website; specifically their V Power and V power racing fuels (98 and 100 octane.) Anyway's, the V Power says that it has "Friction Modifictaion". I wonder exactly what this would do to your engine and would it be safe in a dirtbike? Also the racing fuel has 5% ethanol, I would assume this would be ok to run? Thanks guys.

ethanol is a type of alcohol and adds oxygen into the fuel. makes great power just watch your jetting as for the friction modifier i'm not sure ask rich rohrich he will know. good luck

The term "friction modification" seems to have had a negative effect on your perception. As it does on countless thousands, if not millions of consumers.
Yet that same term has an equally positve effect on an even larger group of consumers.
No matter the effect it had on you, the term is only presented as a marketing tool. Designed to sway your opinion of a product or process.
It has very little to do with anything the consumer really needs to concern themselves with, unless they have at least a decent grasp of hydrocarbon chemistry.
And being swayed by the term isn't a bad thing, but it often leaves people thinking things that are far from reality and fact.
Shell is a top notch petro company, and they produce quality products. There isn't any harm that will come to your engine in using their "racing" fuels.
But if you purchase these from a ground pump, the numbers published will more than likely not even come close to what is really coming out of the spigot.
But there is nothing in it that will harm your engine...but then do you know what used to be in that special "racing fuel" pump off to the side? (hmmmm)
