1982 - 1984 RM250 Carb Swap

I read in an old magazine that the hot set up for the 1984 RM 250 was to replace the 36mm carb with the 38mm carb off of the 1982 RM 250. Unfortunately I misplaced the magazine that told me what slide, needle and jets to use in the conversion. Has anyone else made this change? Any help would be much appreciated.

i am looking for a rear backing plate for either a 1984-1986 RM250 or 500 - i have a 1982 465 plate and wanted to know if it is possible to bore it to accept the larger 17mm axle - thx.
