help -- 70's Yamaha

i just got a dirtbike from a friend. all i know is that its an old yamaha 125 and that it is meant to ride flat. it ran when it was parked a few years ago. i am working on getting it going but had a few questions.
i need to found out the model but dont know how.
also where can i get a good manual for it?

get the vin number. theres a place on the web you can plug it in and it will tell you the year model etc. as for the manual i cant remember where i ordered mine from. i think the kawasaki website. so check yamahas website once you find out the year of your bike

my bike is from the 70s so i cant decode it.
does anyone know where i can decode a bike that is pre 1981?
