Whe the carb on my 83 honda 480 runs low on fuel the engine revs uncontrollibly high until completely out of gas, it doesn't die not even with the kill switch. can anyone tell me what might be causing this.

When your engine is running out of fuel, it is getting leaner. Some , doing this can damage the engine. Too lean of conditions can destroy your piston. That 480 though, was a rich running bike to begin with, look at the plug. It may tell you if you were getting into the detonation zone, where your piston is flying out the exhaust! Best solution, stop running it out of gas? It will run the same way if it were to get to the point of blowing up.

Thank You For the tip, i figured that wa the cause . It's a problem for me here in Belize becauce we don't have tracks, we use the dirt roads to remote villages to ride on weekends. My 480 empties it's tank very quickly unlike the 250's and 125's which is why i always end up out of fuel waiting for the truck.

So pushing a dead dirt bike is no fun in Belize? You need a bigger tank, http://www.clarkemfg.com/cgi-bin/mi...y_Code=honda+cr,

Thank u, These people have exactly what i need. The only problem is that they don't ship to Belize. I will have to figure a way to get items shipped here.

by the way- all 2 stroke bikes will do that - so theres nothing wrong- 4 strokes will do it but not as bad- then they just die-lol
