I AM JUST GETTING BACK INTO DIRT BIKES AGAIN I ALWAYS USE MC-1 AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS OIL AT 50:1 MIX JUST FOR SOME GOOD PRO'S AND CON'S ON THIS OIL.

Similar to you, my friends and I always used MC-1 at 50:1 for years, and although far from being experts, we did our own motor work and didn't switch from this oil. We used MC-1 in various Hondas, Suzukis, Bultacos, Husky's, etc. You probably know this, but Bel-Ray now also has the new "H1R" oil which is an ester based synthetic oil. They market it as a "power valve compatible" oil. I am using Maxima Formula K2 at 40:1 - it is a ester based synthetic oil also, but similar to the H1R, it is expensive.
You probably already did this, but you might do some searches - as usual, there has been tons of discusion about oils.

Mobil-1 makes a fantastic 2 stroke oil MX2T which is full synthetic and can be found at Auto Zone's. Mix it 40:1 or whatever your bike is jetted for. I used to run Yamalube 2R until I read good stuff about MX2T

see next post, I messed up and it won't let me delete it.

There seems to be alot of people using the Mobil1 MX2T - badnws2 could take a look at ktmtalk.com and see proof of this. You can read all of the technical and marketing info you want, but, in my opinion, the best thing is what other people have actually experienced and Mobil1 does seem to have a good following.
Why do I use Maxima, then? Well, I read good things about ester based synthetics and also e-mailed some questions to Maxima and they were very responsive and seemed customer oriented. Maybe not very good reasons, but I have always been a little bit of a risk taker (although not too much in my riding any more.) I am thinking about trying the Mobil1 MX2T, myself, mainly because I already have a bottle and it is quite a bit lower in price.

I did a search for MX2T and there is a lot of info right here in this site for this oil. A higher up from this site even uses it. Check it out.

old #48, Dont get too hung up on the ester thing. The additive package is at least if not more important than the base oil. Besides every base oil has its trde off. For instance esters tend to have higher thermal stability, but are also hydrophillic, harder on seals, etc.

Thanks, bwalker - I think I am starting to see the "another gal besides Ester" picture. I may even try Mobil1 MX2T - never heard of a gal named Polyalphaolephin, though.
The following dirtrider.net threads might be helpful on this whole oil subject.
