Dunlop D739 on YZ250

Does anyone have a Dunlop D739 on their 250? The tire is designed for a 4-stroke but I have this tire on my 250 and I believe this is the best tire I have used yet. I ride in everything from mud, clay, hard pack, gravel and rock and never have any problems w/ the tire. Seems to grip in any type of terrain.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this tire on a 2-stroke bike? :D

I have not tried this on a two stroke, but I have found it to be a very poor tire in muddy conditions on my 426. On all the other terrain you mentioned it works good to great, if that clay was wet I'd be lucky to keep it upright.

There are two different 739 model tires. The 739 is a 2 stroke tire. The 739FA and 739G are four stroke tires. The 739 is the stock tire on the 2002 YZ250 (2 stroke). I really like the rear tire on hardpack, not so much in softer stuff. Still like the 756 front better on hard pack.

pssst...
Been there, done that. 739's, 756's... switched to Maxxis IT rear, HT front. Awesome.

how does the Maxxis IT hook up on hard pack and rocks? My riding is almost exclusive to those conditions, and I am about due for a new rear tire.

I'm in the process of switching to the Michelins. Love the Dunlops, but they do wear too fast. I've also heard that the new Kendas (Carlsbad and Unadilla) are actually pretty good.

So far I've ridden it on hardpack exclusivley... it's very good. Can't comment on rocks.

Thanks, I guess rocks don't really make a difference, they either are like hard pack, or they roll out from under the tire.

i switched to michelin tires for my last set on my KTM and i love them, i got S12's on the back, and star-cross's on the front and for my type of riding they are by far the best combination i have use to date
