The other model of auto clutch is called the z-Start. The website is now up and running. www.rekluse.com

Z Start doesn't have one for your CR250. I have the EFM and love it.

This automatic clutch sounds real good, especially for going up some of the really tight switch-back trails we ride over here. But what about going back down these trails? How does compression braking work with an automatic clutch? I know I have to shift into second or low in my car and even then the braking effect is diminished (or non-existent) at low speeds.

I was told by Rekluse that the Z-start that it will fit on my CR250 (mine is a 01), but it requires a different clutch cover spacer than the CRF. All else is the same. The CRF was the first application developed. The CR is next. The CR spacer will be available this month. The Z-start doesn't require modifications to the hub, plates, or basket. The Revloc and EFM both require some modifications. The only downsides I can see to the Z-start is that even with the manual overide the clutch will start to creep at high rpm, and the lever requires slightly more effort. I plan on getting a Z-start after I get my tax refund. EFM is next on my list. The Revloc is too expensive. It costs double what the others do, but is complete with all new clutch plates.

Rusty, engine breaking can be just as it normally is if you have the clutch set up correctly. I have adjusted mine about 3 time thus far and have it so that it will engage at about 1500 RPM (guessing), has no creep when sitting still AND, best of all, still has engine breaking when coming down hill. If it is a long, slow down hill, it will go into neutral but all you have to do is blip the throttle and it will go back into gear. It really is great in the technical stuff - I found myself to be faster on the motocross track too.

Bent, the Z-start definitely sounds interesting. EFM does weld tabs on to your basket so you would need to replace it if you wanted to go back. The manual clutch is actually much, much easier to pull on the EFM and there is no creep when it is pulled while reving it in gear. BTW, new clutch plates are about $70 so I'm still not sure why Revlok is so much more expensive. Tungsten balls? Yeah, whatever
