In searching detonation and comustion stuff, I came accross this stuff, Ferrocene. There were some products using it like TEL and also a combustion catalyst.
Rich what do you know about this stuff? Hype or help?

its kinda like a iron-benzene sandwich! ive seen people use it (in chemistry) and whatever happens during handling it goes off a nasty brown colour (probably rust). I would expect it acts like them maganese octane boosters, but i dont know that for fact. eitherway, i can think of far better stuff to put in my bike!

IMHO ferrocene is total crap that will foul plugs and bugger valve seats, and is best avoided by racers.

That was my feeling about plug fouling, as the products said it would leave a red deposit on plugs and pistons. http://www.eimi.com/maxi.html here is one link on some product. The only reason I asked was when I searched the word Ferrocene some results came back about being a fuel catalyzer, but if it has any benifit it appears to be in diesel applications.
I guess there isnt any cost effective octane enhancers that work. I have no problem spending 4 to 7 $ on the mx but the watercraft can drink 50 gallons in a weekend :scream:
