Hello
I have been using tearoff's forever.
most recently the scott "Hole shot" type.
How are the Roll off systems?
Thanks Tony

I'd be curious for some feedback also. We just bought my son a fairly expensive Scott roll off setup for x-mas. My thinking was he's still a newbie to racing and this seemed easier to me to use than the tear-offs for him. The other day I was talking to another racer and he said I would find that I was going to have to modify the roll off setup with some fishing line between the roll off and the lense or as soon as he got some moisture between the roll off and the lense the roll off would stick and refuse to advance.
Any feedback out there?

Chili, I just got that too for my birthday, how much did you pay, it was only $40 at Rocky Mountain MC for 89X goggles and X-Vision thing attached. I've heard about that fishing line thing too but I figure that the 'mud flap' that comes with it should do a good job at keeping out moisture.

Glitch we paid just under a Hun CDN so about the equivalant of $60 for you.

I can tell you one thing (haven't ridden in the rain yet with roll-offs) - don't dump your goggles in puddles - they don't like it. The roll-off roll just loads up with water & don't move anywhere. I'd imagine in the rain it would be pretty similar (but I'd hope it wouldn't smell as bad as stagnant water hehe). Will probably do the fishing line trick before our winter (we've been advised the same thing).
We got Smith goggles & roll-offs for about $70NZ (30-35us), too cheap to pass up. I've gone off Scott goggles & am trying out other brands (I like the fitting of the Progrip goggles but am grabbing whichever goggles come to hand soonest or whether I want tear-offs or roll-offs or none).
Oh, another thing to do is put some duct tape over the cartridge holders, so they won't fall off as easily (common complaint from friends who've used them forever).

Just a couple of weeks ago i went down to the local shop to buy some sort of a goggle system. They had the scott roll off's for $50 canadian, and i was thinking of going with them.
After talking to some of my friends I heard that they become very anoying and tend to "Smear", under wet conditions. The last race I was at in williams lake I landed face first in a mud puddle on one of the fireroad sections, my goggles were completely soaked in mud. In this situation i believe the roll off's would have been useless.
Knowing this I went with the tear off's, and ive rode with them for 3 or 4 rides now. I love them, and have no complaints. Just my oppinion....
