Illinois riding

hello all. I'm currently in the Navy out of Groton, CT. I picked up trail riding durring my four years here in CT and will soon be getting out of the Navy and heading back to Freeport,IL (30 min west of Rockford...yeah I know crappy for riding). Does anyone have any suggestions on riding areas up here. I checked out astoria in the atlas and it looks like it would take me atleast six hours to get there. Not too bad for a long weekend trip but I would like something a little closer, maybe within in three hours. Anyone done some riding in Wisconsin? After reading the threads I didn't realize how good I have it here in Connecticut, we find atleast a couple of new good places to ride each year. Any help will be much appreciated.
P.S. where's south fork?

The only thing I know of in the Freeport area is the motocross track in Byron, if you want to go an hour south of Rockford there is Foxvalley offroad (megacross.com) and Buffalo rock in ottawa, Il.
