These enduros are addictive. I need more. Anybody coming out for this one?
It is supposed to be at capitol forest, but that is all I know. Unless someone knows more I will just show up at middle waddell before 8:00.
Weather looks good.

Ahem,
You might want to make that Rock Candy Entrance. I think Doug will be with me this time. Geezer amature class.

Post Entry $40. Over 60 rides for free. Current ORV sticker and spark arrester required. Sound test conducted (102db air, 98db water). Sign-up 7-9. Riders meeting at 8:30. First rider out 9:01.
Short course 35+ miles, Long course 65+ miles. Remote gas check. Route sheets and Jart charts available day of event.
T-shirts to all entrants (yahoo).
Start location is Rock Candy entrance.
I'll be there for sure. '02 KTM 250 with 253 on side number plates.
Looking like it might be dusty. At least in the open.
Should be good clean fun.

How did you knowww??
Thanks so much for the information. I would have been riding around from the wrong entrance and maybe stumbled into the arrows.
T-shirts... yipee.
35 miles at capitol doesn't sound like much. Maybe riding out of rock candy will be tougher. I am a little glad for the dry weather since that might help the clay situation.
I'll be there before 8 in a blue truck, canopy, and utility trailer with an XR400 and WR426. Hot dog.

There were flyers at the Shelton Valley enduro so I grabbed one. They also sent one in the mail I guess from my entry last year.

So how'd it go? Must've been a perfect day for it. Nice @ Tahuya, dry in spots, perfect in others, hope we get some showers before next weekend.

It went well. About as good a day as you can get up there this time of year. About 2/3 of the course was that red/black slime the capital forest is famous for. The short course ended up being 53 trail miles instead of 35.
A little ways into the ride the folks threw in a 6 mph section to see if we were watching our clocks, my bike was feeling warm and I didn't want to ride at 6 mph for miles so I took a little break, well around the next corner was a checkpoint, rats 8 minutes late I was back on schdeule before the end of the 6mph section, they got me good. I proceeded to fall/slip off of two bridges, one was pretty tall and I dropped off into a gulley, my worst crash ever. No damage but it put me and my bike upside down - way down in this gulley, next check I'm 18 minutes behind. The next bridge incident was down into what I thought was grass but ended up being two foot tall swamp grass with shin high swamp below it. Luckily my wheels stayed on the bridge but half of my handlebars went underwater, the half with my clock on it of course. No more clock but it didn't matter I was in a catch up mode, I held the 15-20 minute lag all the way to the end.
Fishhead, ended up on my minute, and my riding buddy must not have fallen off of any bridges because they were both there waiting at the end.
I about busted a gut when the gas truck was being guarded by a racoon wearing motorcycle goggles. The racoon wasn't moving much though. The racoon showed great taste. My kind of people.
Very sore today.

The conditions were good for Capitol Forest! It was dry enough to be a bit dusty on the open areas and wet enough to be slick in the woods. The bridges were a bit tricky and some of the areas where there were mud and rocks a blue groove from spinning tires had developed by the time I got there.
It was a better ride for me than Shelton since there were no bottlenecks on the course. The riders on minute 44 pointed out pretty close together.

Fishhead - I didn't stay until the end, wife's birthday, so how did we do? I know Kenny (WR) thought he did well. I must have been near the end with the bridge incidents.
Kneese did a write up in another section.

You guys took 5th and 6th in class. If Kenny hadn't burned the last check so bad he would have got you. We were all pretty close on points. There quite a few dnf's and dq's. I saw a few hard falls on the bridges and a bit of equipment carnage.
Where is KNeese's write up? I followed him for a ways at 9 to go and he wasn't putting a wheel wrong on the greasy rocks.

I see you found it but it was listed under ride/race reports.
That is great, I fall off two bridges and show up at the truck 20 minutes after you guys and I still placed higher than Kenny. You can bet he's gonna hear about this one.
That is a great example of how bad it hurts to burn a couple checks. He burned 3, one by 1 minute and two by 3 minutes.
Do you think my stock XR headlight will be enough for the night enduro?

You were following me Fishhead. Yikes. I hope I didn't embarass myself. When you say 9 to go does that mean you were behind me with 9 miles left?
I was pretty much pooped by then and just wanting to finish. My drink bag was empty and the mouth was dry. The shoulders and arms were wiped.
I haven't been working out like I should.
I sure would like to have seen a route sheet posted or sent to me so I didn't have to program the computer the morning of the race. But I got a free(?) T-shirt so I'm not complaining.
Thanks to River City for putting on a great event.
I'll be sending my pre-entry off for the Night Enduro and the Black Bear this week. Wahoo!!!

You looked pretty smooth to me, KNeese.
I hear you on the gym comment, that makes two of us. I've got to work on the cardio and legs more. I was getting tired at the gas stop and quit racing for about 3 miles til I got a breather.
I was pretty happy that I was able to time keep the whole event although I was a bit conservative with my pace to start. 6 minutes late to the first check was a reality check. I got back on track and did well til i missed a speed change and got behind on one of the faster sections on the porter side. I'll remember to use the highlighter next time!
I changed the valve stack in my forks and It helped my arms and shoulders a lot to have a plusher setting after the second half. Looking back, I could have pushed a little harder on the free sections but I wanted to save a little bit for later.
I am curious what everyone is doing for lights on the night enduro. I'm running a 01 250 exc with the stock lighting coils so any suggestions would be helpful.

Talk to MACE. (if you can find him) I think he has helmet lights.

A buddy of mine who does the 24hrs at Reiter said he just uses a helmet light. No light on his bike at all.
