Gearbox oil is kinda like underwear

everybody has their favorite brand but as long as you change it often noone will complain.

Not sure if this will help or not but when I started using it in my 89 CR250 I stopped burning up clutch plates. But I also added an extra plate and put in stiffer springs. The plates last much longer now but I'm not sure how much the oil itself has to do with it. BTW, I'm still running Bel-Ray :thumb:

IMO, Bel-Ray makes some of the best stuff out there. Although a little higher than some other products, I'm a firm believer in their stuff. Everything I use is Bel-Ray, from premix to filter oil (including GearSaver)...

i've used the gearsaver for years, w/absolutley no probs. i see posts from guys who use stuff that is much cheaper & am tempted to switch, but am afraid to trust the expensive gears & clutch on my precious bike to something else. so iget it by the case & the dealer gives me a nice discount.

When I had my CR125 I used NOTHING but Gear Saver 80W. I never experienced a bottom end failure and the clutch was butter since day 1. It cost more then some other oils but for the protection it can't be beat. BTW I changed mine rougly every 2 rides or 10hrs.

Bel-Ray Gear saver has been used in my 99 KX 250 since new and the clutch is still in it. One thing to remember with most specific trans oils for 2 stroke bikes is it's rated on the gear oil visicosity spec as follows 75w (10w-30) 80w (10w-40) and 85w (20w-50). Many guys think these trans oils are way too thick because of the different numbers but as you can see they match up with the relevent motor oil grades that the manufactures list in the service books

Which says a hell of a lot MORE about the way you ride than it does about the oil you are running. :silly:

Everything I use is bel-ray. You can't go wrong using it. I buy in case quanities to help reduce the cost.

Hey kisner1 where do you buy your cases of bel-ray from?
