Alpinestar Tech 8 Quality/Problems?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My tech 8's are junk already. I imagine they have less than 8 or so rides on them and the bottom of one side has ripped away from the boot. Anyone have contact info for Alpinestar or suggestions?

You can tell by the soles that these boots haven't seen much action yet

Contact info in your PM box. Lemme know how it goes.

Thanks David. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I am not bashing Alpinestar or anything, I abused a pair of tech 6's for almost 3 years and can't believe the abuse those things stood up to. I am hoping this is just an isolated manuf. defect that slipped through. I've heard good things about their customer service and am hoping that they will work with me on this.

Mine have been great, call their customer service, they went above and beyond when I was having trouble with my buckles/straps.

i was just wondering if those are the old style ones???

Have you tried their website?
When I had a problem I called them directly, talked to product support, sent them my boots with my receipt, and they handled the rest. Great service and very accessible.

MrLuckey they were great with me. I contacted for my tech 8 and my sons tech 6 and they always responded well. Only a couple of complaints but they took care of it at no charge. For me they were an easy company to deal with. Hope all goes well. :thumb:

Well we're not getting off to the best start here. After 3 e-mails back and forth they gave me a phone number to call and the name of a contact. Just spent over 10 minutes on hold, about every minute they asked if I wanted to stay on hold and I said "yes please". Then they hung up on me I really don't have all day to sit around on hold, then re-dialing just to find myself at the end of their queue again! I have meetings to attend so I guess I'll try them again this afternoon.

Are they made of leather or are they as plastic as they look?

Havent had any quality issues with my pair. Although I have to wrestle a bit with the knee braces on to snug em up.

my tech 8's lasted forever, but I can't say they come close to my current Sidi Flex Force SRS for comfort or protection, I'll never go back.

I just tore my last pair of Alpinestars....no more for me.

my tech 8's are lasting and lasting i guess you got a defective pair

I'm on my 4rh year of racing on my Tech 8's (the new style) and I just had the complete sole kits replaced on the bottoms for this year, but now they're not the same. The glue the shoe repair guy I took them too, isn't holding in one spot, and the metal toe piece is starting to rip off on one side. I guess I can't complain, love them and got my use out of them. I'll definitely buy another pair of Tech-8's within the next 9 month!

UPDATE:

After receiving my boots Alpinestar gave me a call. It seemed as though they were not going to make me happy at all. After discussing many options (none of which sounded too good) they all of sudden changed their mind and asked whay color I wanted and said they would send out new Tech 8's that day. I got them about 4 days later. :thumb:

I give them 4.5 stars out of a possible 5.
