Hotel Availability??? Nope, Nada, Sorry Charlie

FYI:
I called every hotel listed on the DW site tonight and there is no availability for the weekend. Some of them have availability for earlier in the week but you can forget all about Friday night.
Any ideas? This sucks.
Oh yeah, for all that care...NOT The OSU Cowboys will be playing Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday! Isn't that great?
So, anybody have any clues on an alternate plan? Theres going to be lots a stinky fellers spoonin otherwise. Not a good visual. :flame:
Also, I did find some hotels in Enid, OK (60 Miles) and they have availability for less than the cost of a new bike! 125 bucks a night!! Yee Haw!

Humm... we checked the OSU schedule some time ago and there was an away game over DW?
You'd miss half the fun staying in a hotel anyway! Couple of thoughts:
1) The Heartland Spodes made and set-up the "Spode Wash". A full blown, heated portable, double shower (with privacy, lol) that will be on site. Just kick in couple bucks when you use it to help cover the costs
2) Get with someone with a room and mooch a shower or kick in a couple bucks.
It'll be fine, you'll be glad you stayed at CL... trust me.

Ditto on what Okie said. There will most likely be several extra tents (I am bringing one and so are others). A late night at CL, a spodeshower and Jack & Dianes in the morning will leave you wondering why you ever thought of a hotel.

I like the idea of staying up until I collapse. :thumb:
When I come too, if it's daylight, it's time to ride, if it's dark,it's time to find the bonfire.

I have done the tent thing every time and not had a problem. The spode wash last year was a definite upgrade. I'll likely be bringing an extra tent also.

As I recall there were a few people last year that had hotels but only used them to shower, they ended up camping.

I found the same thing but one one the hotel chains told me that they
have to hold back so many rooms for internet reservations. So I went
on line at the same chain that when I called were sold out ( Motel 6 ) and reserved 4 rooms online, got confirmation numbers and the next day called down on the phone to make sure they were reserved and they are. You can try doing this the way I did but I did find out every time I went to a website like Cheaphotels.com they would show sold out but when I went to the website of the chain they would still have rooms available.
I think there is a football game the same weekend as DW that is why so many of the rooms are sold out but some are available for other days.

Did you guys look into Scott Hall on campus??? it's not technically a hotel but i think you can get rooms there. maybe. i could look into it for you if you haven't...

There will be extra tents, but as with everything else, reserve early.
Bring your sleeping bag. :thumb:

I called Fairfield Inn and they said they were booked up that weekend and they showed no rooms available.
I went to Orbitz.com and looked for hotels in the area and tried to make a reservation at the same Fairfield Inn and got the reservation for the entire time I wanted (including that weekend). The lady on the phone did not know how that happened so I guess Orbitz books the rooms in their name and then releases it to others at a later time.
It was kinda high for what I wanted ($65 a night) but I am at least secured a room.

i called scott hall today and they said that as of now it would look good for getting a reservation the week of DW. Scott hall is an old dorm they use to house conference guests but they'll let not conference people use them. If i'm not mistaken it's wicked cheap but that may just be for students. I dont know how many rooms they'll let out to non-conference/non-students and it has communal bathrooms but it's worth a shot if you want to try it out.
give 405-744-6956 a call and they'll have definite info.

Is Scott hall any cheaper than Parker hall? Maybe I could save some $ on your room and board!

The RV Rental place in OKC is booked solid as well and they mentioned, among a few other things, that a football game was the reason. Didn't catch what game though. Soon as I hear "football" I subconsciously tune out everything said after the word.
Staying onsite at CL is the best way to go anyway. Don't want to miss out on anything.

Hey! It's bad enough I have to park with the DoC people I don't wanna hafta live them as well....
We play Louisiana-Lafayette at 6 on the 4th... YAY!!!!!! maybe we'll actually win!

but thats the problem see... the curse of the cowboys... we lose the games we're supposed to win and can usually only pull off a win if we're expecting a spanking...
although i was very very proud of my boys beating wyoming last saturday.
GOOOO POKES!

So did you go to the Orange Peel last Friday?

Getting back to the topic of the thread...
Check hotels.com. When we booked our's (a little over a week ago) there were still a few open rooms listed for that week. The cleanest choice for the money is Fairfield Inn. I hated working for that place, but I have to admit that it's a decent place to stay.

on topic suggestion-- has anyone checked out Scott hall? i mentioned it earlier but havent heard if it was a workable solution. you'll have to hurry they give priority to students and alumni and saturday is a game day..
off topic- sure did- was a great show! the best one i've been to!

since our friend from Argentina is not coming, there is a room in my name at the Days INN.... who wants / needs it? at $45 + tax per day...
Posted by: mrmodine
If its for Wenedsday thru Saturday or longer I am interested. How many beds and what size? I need room for 4 people.
Posted by: Pokie
my reservation starts on Sunday. checkking out following Sunday. I think most/all rooms are two double beds. If interested, I'll call them to turn the reservation over to you... I doubt they'll force the Sunday to Sunday deal. If interested send me an email.... and I'll get it started.
(I did the reservation by phone, not over the Internet)

Pokie:
Thanks so much for the offer...however, I checked with the Hotel and I was able to extend my reservation out through Saturday! Wahoo!
40 bucks a night with 2 queen beds too! Not a bad rate.
Thanks Again!
