DirtWeek weather

What kind of Daytime/Nighttime temperatures should we expect for the 1st week of Oct out there.

Posted by: MrLuckey

Daytime - between 75 and 105
Nighttime - between 50 and 85

I am going to guess more like 80-95 daytime and 70-80 nighttime but I wouldn't put any money on it.

I think last year there were a few days over a hundred and a few nights in the 40's if that helps lol

Posted by: GETMETOCA

From what I remember, it was kind of an odd mixture of temps!  Always kind of hot and muggy during the daytime.  Mornings had a little chill, but wore off quite quickly after the sun came up.

Nights, I can remember wearing t-shirts some evenings and another night I was wearing a heavy Fox hoody AND my ski jacket on top of that.  And then there was the night with the monsoon rains, wet but not cold.

Mostly shorts and T-shirt weather day and night, but bring some additional clothes for the odd cool night.

Are you packing already???

30 year average

Daily average for Oct

Posted by: biglou

Last year it was hot in the daytime, about 94 or so, for the first few days. Then the front came through. It rained like crazy Thursday night, then it was very nice the last couple days. About 75. Friday morning was COLD! I had on a sweatshirt and a pullover first thing in the AM. VD's coffee never tasted so good as that morning! :thumb:

Friday morning was the best Jack & Diane's ever was!

Should be perfect.  It is really the beginning of the riding season around here.

Posted by: Okiewan

Sorry, it didn't get to 100 those first days (Mon - Wed) was in the low to mid 90's which is hot for that time of year. Nights averaged in the 60's, Fri and Sat was in the mid 70's.

Posted by: OKKX'er

The week before DW'02 was in the 80's. Those mid 90's were abnormal. Eddie is however correct on the possible range. Last Friday heat index 103, burn ban. Sunday 75 and they were pulling people off of their car roofs.

Local forecast

I know everyone uses the famous Will Rodger's phrase "If you don't like the weather it'll change tomorrow" (paraphrased)... but he WAS talking about Oklahoma.

See the date this is what is predicted. Sun all day. :thumb:

10/1 High 85 real feel temperature 80.

The temps there are great this time of year. It is finally cooling off here some, but it is still too darned hot.

Temps look perfect.

Posted by: Treejumper

Better than our weekend forcast.

Thursday-rain
Friday- nice (of course i have to work all day)
Saturday-rain
Sunday-rain
Monday-rain

Good week to get out of town!

Posted by: BSWIFT

Monday  70 daytime 43 nite
Tuesday 73 daytime 45 nite
Rest of the week looks tobe about the same.  Heavy dew every morning.  There is plenty of moisture in the ground and no obvious chances of rain in the seven day forecast.

I just checked The Weather Channel's website. They are calling for high 70's throughout the week with lows in the low 50's or upper 40's. Chance of rain Friday (a 40% chance of a shower) which should make perfect conditions for racing on Saturday.

That's EXACTLY what happened last year.  Monsoon the night before the MX races.  Luckily the C class worked in all the slop before the ladies race

maybe the cooler temps will help keep those noisy generators off at night!

i've found that if it's cool at night, good thermal clothing is much easier to pack than a pile of blankets.  I don't remember the heat being a problem last year, but i was having too much fun to notice.  I do remember drinking lots of water, and smelling bad on occasion.  Sounds like this year it will be a bit cooler.

Here in NW Arkansas the local weather is talking about a chance of frost over this weekend. But, I'm 3 hours from Cooperland so hopeful it will not follow me!
