MX'ers: What class do you race?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: bclapham

Ive been back into riding about 18 months now and started racing the last 2 months- i cant believe how much i enjoy the racing; i am interested to know what speed of mx racers we have on the board.

discuss!

Posted by: oldguy

voted for the kid since I am officially retired.
He races 125 B and 125 JR (schoolboy) in our district.

Posted by: biglou

Two-fiddy beginner for me. There's always enough sandbaggers to ensure that I don't ever finish above 1/3 pack.
Just found out I'm racing tomorrow if the weather holds...

Posted by: bclapham

btw: i know we have eeverything from peewee through vet riders but i think it will be easiest if you just post the skill level you race wiithin your age group!!!

Posted by: mxer842

125schoolboy

Posted by: Jeff Gilbert

I race 125 Novice at all tracks except my local where I race B class (A,B,C,D). I also race in most of the over age classes, they're more fun most of the time but I'm usually one of the few on a 125.
I did my 1st AX last year and followed the suggestions of all the other locals and raced in the beginner class. I can tell you that it is the biggest bunch of sandbaggers in the beginner class in AX. I made the main but I think I'd had a lot better chance in the novice class.

Heya Bruce, I picked still lost in the dez, because I can't get enough of this

Novice, and women open

{cough} sandbagger {cough}

The only time I've ever done anything on a dirtbike that could mistakenly be called "racing" was at dirtweek. Even then it looked more like participating.

Posted by: Yogurt

I race 125C and 16-24C. Hope to sandbag this 2004 season then make my way to the B class

Posted by: MXSparx

vet C for me (read old and slow)

dang sandbaggers lol I shouldn't be talking

For '04 I'm bumpin fulltime to 125B

Posted by: BEEF706

vet and senior novice, 250c (hey somebocy's gotta be at the back of the pack.)

Posted by: Dapper

I'm in a class all by myself

Posted by: nikki

I usually just race the womens class but this year I've done some B-intermediate races too (fair races, 16-24 class in Alabama, DW) and I've finally made myself start practicing in the B class at open rides as well. But I'll usually chicken out and do 125C at races. I guess it really depends on the track and turnout and competition, too. Plus it seems like the C class at practices (mostly non-racers) and the C class at the races (mostly sandbaggers) are very different in talent and speed!

Posted by: bbbom

What? No "Heavyweight" class or "Geritol" class. Darn, guess I'll just have to stay lost in the woods!

Posted by: Moto'n Mama

Uhh - I'd stay lost in the woods with you bbbom but I dont even think I could keep up with you. :o

Posted by: bbbom

Sure you can Sarah - the only time I go fast in the woods is when Firecracker & I get lost. We seem to speed up the more lost we get!

Posted by: Zoomer

When I race AHRMA events, I have to race expert (they kicked me out of the intermidiate class ) In modern stuff, I race the age classes, so usually "B" since I have not been racing much the last 2 or 3 years

YEA RIGHT! you obviously havn't seen the talent in the DFW area! At the pro cirucit series we had over 60 riders in the novice class at the first 3 rounds and had to run qualifers! It all really depends on the area.

I mainly run women's open and do well there. In 2004 I plan to do women's, 125 open, 125 novice, and the 16-24 class when I can.

Posted by: MXGirl230

I race in the women's class. I would like to race 125C, but my fiance' is afraid I'll get killed. I told him that's why I need a 250, so that I can race 250C. The guys in there are usually a little older and smarter. They know how to hold their line and aren't as wild.

Posted by: Camstyn

I stink up the tail end of the novice class.

Posted by: jboomer

I'm a pro. (practicer that is!). My wife refuses to let me race because it's "too dangerous." So, I don't. But if I did, I'd probably be a C rider (but would prefer an age class +25).

Posted by: MikeT

I've been racing in the 125D class and have just started to do a little better (got a 4th and a 5th) in my last two races. I am thinking about trying the 125C class a shot next year. I am also thinking of getting a 250 so...... We will see

BEautiful desert picture jpivey IT IS SO AWSEOME I WISH I COULD RIDE OUT IN THE DESERT ABOARDT A BEAUTIFUL KTM!!! THE ORANGE AND ORANGE GO TOGHETHER REALLY NICELY!!!

Posted by: kiwi_925

I ride the support class to the naiotnal's here, dont feel like watching the King brothers and co pasing me a few times during a race. And in the woods im about the same, only got lapped once by the winners of a 6 hour race, and the guy that won finished 3rd in the NZ motocross champs, just to show comparrison(sp) of speed

Posted by: KawieKX125

If I raced regularly I would be B class NESC. The people I practice with are top 10 consistent B class riders and during my peak this summer I could easily ride with them, but now with my many month break from riding for college, I am probably not as good. Oh well I will get better again next summer during my 4 month summer break.

Posted by: bclapham

so we have 30000+ members and only 82 race.

maybe i should have done a pole, do you ride, LOL

What? are you afraid of an old fat guy on a fourstroke?

Posted by: Psalm31.24

Hey Bruce,

raced beginner twice had a blast, now i'm a professional practice rider (sigh, sad, bummed). Can hardly wait til my kids grow up and my wife forgets how much of a hassle it was taking care of me and my broken leg.

Posted by: Jackpiner57

C Senior. Now can you tell me what the orange arrows are for? Where'd everybody go?

Posted by: frankrock363

250B,25+B,30+B I am hoping to move up to the A class next year. I have been a B rider for about 6 years.

Posted by: kdxtodd

Well, the extra weight on the bike enhances their rock chucking abilities, it hurts.

Posted by: Boodac

Old & slow Over 40 Beginner. Best part about the over 40 group is that they all have to work on Monday like me.

Posted by: ktmracer

about 3 races deep in 200A

I have been in a number of races where I knew some of the 'C' class riders who were sand bagging. My best finish was a second while riding with true 'D' class riders.

Posted by: ginster77

last year i rode +25A this year i'm going to ride +25 and +30A if nobody shows up i'll win my entry fees back

Posted by: 110 octain

85 beg.,85 open for me

Posted by: fish525

for me its 30+HWT

Posted by: mxer842

I switched to 125C and can't believe how close the B class and C class are in speed. In SRAC we run a novice morning program and a B/A afternoon program. One guy marked out of the C class with a 4-3, ran the B class that afternoon and got 4th overall.

Posted by: Shig

Gotta love the mark system eh 842? If that same guy wanted to race 250B, they would probably make him go back and mark through 250 C. Isn't it strange that there are Vet Pros in the 250 B class?

Posted by: mxer842

What stinks about that system is with only 10% getting marks and a class where anyone in the top 10 is fast enough to win, you get a bottleneck where no one marks out. So eventually the top of the C class is as fast as all but the top few B riders, and those same B riders could likely score a top 10 the A class, they need to open the mark system up a little bit so that say the top 15% mark, or even the top 20%. That would keep the novice classes open for what they were designed for, an introductory class; while the faster riders wouldn't have to worry in a race if this guy ahead of us is going to jump the next rythem section or slam on his brakes at the last moment.

Posted by: LukeRips

Blackhawk, after watching your video you could run away in any intermediate race I've ever watched. What track is that?

Posted by: kdx633

old gray and in the way
