building xr80 for son

Can anyone help me with previous experience on how to performance enhance the old 76 xr 75 or the 82 xr 80. I want to build up one of the bikes for my son but it will need a bit more go because he is used to riding the old 82 cr.

How much money do you want to put into the XR's? It will be hard to match the performance of a CR anyway. I have a 73 XR that's bored, stroked, SL125 carb, CR80 front end, T&M header, performance cam and extended swingarm. (I'm looking for an electronic ignition) I'd start with a big bore kit and go from there. I have a stock 82 XR that's just plain old fun to ride around. Look at Powroll to see what they have and prices, that's who I used
