IT 125 pipe "interchangeability"

Anyone know if the pipe from the same year yz125 will fit o.k. (1980) or maybe if a 79 might. The one I have feels very heavy like it might be full of baked on spooge.

Cook the old pipe out!! It's simple... Find someone with welding gas set up, start the carbon build up at inlet on fire, than feed the pipe oxygen only. You have to be careful not to feed it too much oxygen or it will melt down. Feed it just enough to burn and it will keep the carbon build-up on fire through the length of the pipe. I've done this several times it works really well... Dave

Yamaha claimed the bikes were almost identical that year. Ran across an ad for IT in old 1980 Cycle News the other day. Not sure about the pipe though...

Thanks for both replies. Both are helpful.

Oops- reread the ad and it was about the 175, not 125. Says the 175 is an expanded version of the YZ125 engine. So Apparently the 125 may be a separate engine? And i recall a friend had an IT125 and it was fairly mild, did not seem similar to the YZ powerband (I had 79, 80 and 81 YZ125's). Sorry can't be of more help...
