why was this class disbanded?

Are you asking about MX or enduro? It was never a popular MX class, though there were some fun 175cc MXers. I don't think any of the 175cc MX bikes ever sold well, and not all the makers had one. In enduros, they still race a 0-200cc class.

I thought there was a 175 "class" in MX a long time ago.?!? Any way I was more referring to manufacturers making a 175cc bikes. But I guess it is one and the same question, because makers aren't going to produce bikes there is no racing or market for. I just seems such a natural next progression with younger riders growing up and moving up from sizes and cc, without becoming overwhelmed. Like going from a 125 up to 250...thats a big jump in power and size. Today's 60-80cc mxers have the speed/power of yesterdays 125's. Today's 250's are like old 4-500cc bikes. etc.
I agree that enduro/HS racing is more "open" to different size bikes. But in MX today, once you get through all the little classes (under 100cc) your only left with 125 and 250.
