Ivan...looks like you and I have been moved to the back since Chris and Monica get preferred seating/sleeping.

Posted by: SpokerAce

I'll be there for sure on Saturday, possibly Sunday but that is Mother's Day. Might have to go see her this weekend and then missing out on her day the following week will be ok.

Posted by: jboomer

I'll be there either late Thursday or early Friday.....depends if I can get my slow self out of bed and get motivated for the 7 hour drive! Will be there through Sunday!

Posted by: trout

I'll have to talk to Chris, but I doubt we will make it.

I need to find a better mothers day event. I might take her on a canoe trip or something. I dont think she would want to spend mothers day watching me ride. She deserves better this year, she has put up with all of my crap.

Eric said this weekend they weren't coming. You need to talk them into it. I'd love for them to make it.

Ivan

How many wives/girlfriends will be making the trip? I am trying to talk the wife into coming, along with my 13 and 2 yr old daughters. The 13 yr old isnt a problem, she's a rider, but the others might like some company. Some female attendees might make the begfest go smoother! Still very iffy, I cant commit yet....

Also, will someone ask an admin to remove the sticky from "New Charity Ride" under Places to Ride? Connecting to DRN has become a real problem for me, I dont know whether it is a DRN, ISP, or my computer problem, so I am asking while I have gotten through!

The problem is "Error 500, Unknown Host", if anyone has hints or resolutions.....

Robert

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

We will be there Me ( Eddie ) and 13y/o son, and my wife will prolly come also...........

Posted by: trout

I think we are out. I just dont have the heart to drag the pregnant wife out there to watch us ride. (maybe you guys do and can convince her!! ) Im only kidding, she's not up to camping these days. I think one of the big things that she misses these days is the good ole TNT days of hanging out and camping. She misses ya'll. ( yea, so do i)

Do any of you guys know any good canoe trips/rentals in SC. I'd like to spend mothers day with her and Monica doing something peaceful like that...canoes or cabins.

Next season...LOOK OUT. Im gonna start racing/HS'ing like a mofo.

Posted by: Lemming

I'm still in, sorry guys, I know you wish that I'd back out In fact, I'm taking the day off tomorrow to head over to GA and visit with Mom and Dad. That way I won't feel that bad when I'm out riding the following Saturday

Last but not least, I found a great deal on heat-and-eat burritos, therefore, the fire pit should be placed far away from my tent

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Trout, check this out, the lower saluda below the lake murray dam is a beatiful river for canoe's and kayakes

Here>>>>>>>>>> http://www.adventurecarolina.com/

Posted by: ob1quixote

Well, its a definite maybe for me. The daughter would love to go, but has Girl Scout activities. The wife needs to be home, since the daughter cant "solo".

I am working on a kitchen pass for Friday and Saturday, with an early Sunday exit.

I tried to trade holidays with the wife, that floated like a lead balloon!

Robert

Posted by: joereitman

Well, I guess I'll attend...

Posted by: Lemming

I'm trying to talk JP into coming, I even offered to let him ride my CRF that is for sale. Regardless, since the bike hasn't sold yet, I'll bring it along and maybe ride it once or twice and try to entice someone to buy it. It's been hard to start lately so I checked the valves today and they need to be reshimmed. Anyone bringing a box of shims??? I know that Gomer will supervise my installation, right??

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

So will ya'll have a certain area you are setting up at? And what time do I need to be there by Friday?

Posted by: joereitman

I am waiting on Gomer's report as to the best camping spot.

I will get there Friday afternoon most likely.

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Cool, it will be late Friday afternoon for us for sure,
does any of ya'll happen to have a nextel radio?

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Well, my wife cannot get off work early Friday, So we would not be able to arrive before 7:00 - 7:30 does anybody see that as a problem?

Posted by: truespode

Nope.

I won't be arriving until Saturday morning myself. I am taking my mother out Friday night to celebrate Mother's Day.

Ivan

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Great, just to clarify I meant 7:00- 7:30 Friday evening, didnt want to mislead,

Also I think I am on the list twice ( Eddie ) and DRZ_Dad ooops.....................

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

Whew! Haven't been able to get on here, lately...

It's not camping! She can hang out in the RV with the A/C running while watching DVDs! She can even have her choice of beds!

Yeah, that is nice (even though the water is cold since it comes out of the bottom of the damn). Just arrange to get out before the rapids near the zoo. They aren't anything serious, but she might not want to do them right now.

Quote:
Anyone bringing a box of shims

Gotcha covered. I have all of the small shims needed for the intake valves. I'm just light on the really big exhaust shims.

I'll be a little late Friday night, too. Probably before 9:00, though.

Posted by: jboomer

I'm probably going to be there 1:00 PM'ish Friday...has anyone decided on where we are all camping?

Posted by: truespode

Rumor has it James is thinking of backing out. I say everyone PM him and guilt him into going (which I doubt is possible).

Ivan

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

How about a little survey...........

I am planning on camping in a tent, due to the extra expense and hassle involved in bringing the RV............

But I would rather not be the only tenter

anybody else doing tent? or all RV's?

Posted by: truespode

I'm bunkin with Gomer in his RV.

SHOTGUN!!

I called the first best available location in the RV

Ivan

Posted by: ob1quixote

Gonna sleep in my van {down by the river} Gonna watch my 4in B/W tv while sitting in front of my fan! I will be in a black and silver high-top Dodge, '98 XR400, '67 Benelli Dynamo pitbike.

Looks like I may get there first, good, plenty of time to set up the water-balloon catapult to greet the late arrivals! Remember to roll your windows up! Punctuality has its rewards! LOL

Looking forward to a great weekend, and HLG hypnotized, doing the "Disco Duck" while in an imaginary vat of Quaker Instant Grits!
LOL

Robert

Posted by: Lemming

I'll be camping in either the bike trailer or the back of my Exploder.

Thanks Gomme, it's the intake that needs work.

I can't wait for this weekend, I have'nt been on the bike in over a month

Posted by: jboomer

I'll be pitching a tent as well. '99 Pewter Silverado with CRF450 in da back...#33.

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

I still may fire up the RV, not sure yet, The wife does not want to spend the extra dead prez's , but It looks like its gonna be pretty warm Saturday! big E no sleep to good in the heat!!!!!!!!! I may have to pull rank and leave the tent at home, plus I have never been to Aonia, So I do not know the place at all, shade etc. Do they have pwer hook ups available? no biggy just curious

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

They have power, but not much shade where we'll be.

I'd bring the RV and keep her happy!

Posted by: ob1quixote

At the charity ride, my daughter and I camped in the van. It has three screened windows, all were open, and we slept comfortably until about 5am, when the sheets had to be pulled up a bit! When evening fell it cooled off quite nicely. I dont think this weekend will be much different.

They have 30 amp camper plugs and some standard 110 outlets. I survived the day with a 10X10 ez-up and a box fan.

Robert

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

i think you are right!!!!! and if i bring the rv I'll have an extra bunk should someone need a place to crash....................

Yeah, But I could sweat while ice fishing! LMAO

Either way We will be there! either in a white ford p/u or a 32' tan RV, with a DRZ400 and CR80 expert in tow..........

Posted by: ob1quixote

My house is set at 72 deg summer, 68 winter, so I think I like it cool too. Really, after a post sunset shower and kickin' back for the evening, it wasnt bad. Now, in a month, it would probably be a different story!!

Robert

Sure is reassuring

Weather forecast for the Suthun Spodefest; high temps upper 80s to lower 90s, low temps lower 60s, sunny Friday and Saturday, sun and clouds Sunday.

Chance of rain.............ZERO!
Chance of fun..............100%
Chance of me being hypnotized and acting like Foghorn Leghorn at Studio 54, ZERO!

You late arrivals will be pleased to know that the surgical tubing for my water balloon catapult has failed from age, and I wont have time to replace it. Dang, I was looking forward to some preliminary range finding shots at the PeeWee track.....{Daddy, that bad man over there was bombing us with water balloons!} Just Kidding!

Robert

Posted by: JuliusPleaser

Who's bringing the hookers?

Posted by: joereitman

Just spoke to Perry, the track owner. He will leave the gate open 24/7 starting Friday so folks can come and go as needed. We should arrive around 6pm or so Friday. You can start riding as early as 8 a.m. Saturday.

We will be tent camping both nights unless Matthew's allergies act up, in which case we may be forced to go a mile down the road to where our guest hypnotist will be staying with his better half in a B and B Saturday night.

We will be in an old Jeep Cherokee, dark blue, pulling a rail trailer with 03 kx250, no #'s, and a silver and black KTM65, no #'s, may have the pw80 pit bike too, for the wheelie contest. Foot dragging is allowed, right? :D

My sugggestion on the camping is to be close to the trees for more shade, maybe we can set up the campfire in the middle of the clearing.

We are looking forward to a great weekend, and meeting a lot of new folks! Should be a pretty good GOR turnout too. Robert, any interest from the 2 forums you posted to?

Posted by: jboomer

I understand that to mean no riding on Friday? If that's the case I may consider sleeping in Friday and getting there later in the afternoon.

Posted by: ob1quixote

I havent seen any interest at TT, but then its been offline since last Friday. ORR only has about 35 members {new site} so I dont expect too much from there.

I second the question on Friday riding. If the track wont be open on Friday, I'm not gonna be in a great rush to get there!

Robert

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

They allow riding every day except those leading up to a race while they are working the track. Just go down to the 2 story signup area at the edge of the main track, fill out the paperwork, and leave your money in the box.

No fair getting practice in and then spanking us old farts who show up late Friday night!

Posted by: ob1quixote

I have to get the practice in, so I dont get beaten by the kid with the Pep Boys dirtbike, who's dad cut holes in a 5 gallon bucket so he'd have a chest protector.

Robert

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

I may just be more excited about this than my kid!!!!!!! LOL I'm sure it's gonna be a blast.

Posted by: Lemming

Not sure yet when I can get away from work tomorrow. My best guess is that I'll be arriving around 8pm. I'll be in a black Ford Exploder pulling a white v-nose trailer. You'll know us as we pull in since JP will likely be standing on top of the trailer doing his stripper routine

Posted by: Knobby Head

Hey all!,,,, did anyone happen to find out if there was any power at the remote camping area?

Hope GOR comes back up soon im having withdrawls and left to actually work! LOL

Posted by: JuliusPleaser

That reminds me. . .I need your black lace outfit if you're finished with it.

Posted by: joereitman

There are a couple outlets at the remote area by the showers for minor plug ins like hair dryer, fan, TV/vcr. But they are not dedicated hookups like at the main area. In other words, don't expect to hook your RV into power at the remote area.

Y'all, sorry about the Friday confusion. Yes, they are open Friday for riding. The Sat 8am comment was responsive to a specific question per a phone call from a buddy about how early folks could start that particular day...

Let me make a group suggestion. Let Julius and Lemming have the remote campground all to themselves.

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

I'm going out this evening to change all of the exit signs between Atlanta and Augusta.

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Well the RV it is, gonna go gas her up this afternoon so if any of ya'll own stock in Exxon you should be smiling............LOL

Posted by: joereitman

Can Mikey say "Felony"

ps- need any help?

Posted by: ob1quixote

Hey Joe, would you email me you phone number? {Just in case}
familyriderssc@aol.com

I wonder if there will be a "weeny bite" contest???? LOL

Robert

Posted by: Lemming

Hmmm, JP in a black nightie and HLG in his pink totoo, glad I've got may camera packed :thumb:

Maybe the weeny bite contest is a bad idea.....

I'm still there, as long as there's no "tossing the garter"

Robert

Posted by: ob1quixote

Just filled up at $1.73, I saw gas in the $1.60s in GA 2 weeks back.

Robert

Posted by: Lemming

Can anyone post directions? Specifically, after getting on 78 you go xx miles and turn left on which road???

Posted by: High Lord Gomer

For Lemming and JP...when you hit 78, do a U turn and take that road until it ends. When it ends, grab you swim trunks and turtle floaties. We'll all be on the third island on the left.

For everyone else... I-20 to exit 172 (Rt 78). Head west (north) 12 or so miles. Track will be on the left side of Rt. 78. If you make it to where it widens out to 4 lanes, ya done gone too far!

DRZ_Dad...I get 6 mpg with mine, how about you?

If anybody needs last minutes Christmas gift ideas for JP, call me at 803-238-7909. If I say "The chicken eats purple socks" and hang up, you know I'm doing super-top-secret double naught spy stuff. Just call back in a few minutes when I'm out of the john.

Posted by: Lemming

Well, good news for all spodefest attendees, JP has decided not to grace you with his presence. I believe that calls for great abuse to be heaved upon him

In fact I'll start. I believe that he is scared to get back on a bike. See the last time we were riding he was having a good ol' time on my fiddy until a mean 7-year-old kid stuffed him on the MX track and he went down hard. After that he has never been the same; which might be considered a good thing

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Quote:

I might get 8 or 9 if I stay under the speed limit, but for some strange reason the speedo creeps on up a little. LOL

Posted by: ob1quixote

I told you that kid with the Pep Boys bike and the 5 gallon bucket/chest protector was mean. Dont let him catch up with you on the track, or you could be his next victim.....

If JP thinks that 50 was a tough ride, he hasnt thrown a leg over my 37 year old 65!
I call it.................................The Crippler.....{insert Twilight Zone theme music here}

Robert

Posted by: DRZ_Dad

Ya'll just make sure you take it easy on this old man k........LMAO

Robert- 706 206 0073

Plan change for us- Pollen count is too high for Matt to sleep in a tent all night, so we will arrive Sat 8:30 instead of tomorrow night.

Replacement Celeb for Pleaser (what's that name mean anyway?!?!?!!?)- Ken "Crash" Armstrong. He has earned his name the old fashioned way. Bring yor videocam to the biggest double on the track and enjoy.

Lemming, don't you mean xxx miles, not xx miles?

Mike in a tutu- I am not sure I want to see that part of the "show".

ps- got the flywheel wt in tonite, so the bike accelerates instead of slithering and ditch digging. Now I have one less excuse... But hey, some one has to ride at Ivan's level and keep him company, right? May as well be me...

See y'all Saturday!
