Is there a good place to get parts for a bike like this? I was given this bike and I was told it has no spark. I haven't had time to look at it yet.

Be more specific, do you want plastic, suspension, motor parts or ? We mess around alot with these so I know a bunch of places.

Well it has no spark at this point. I just want to get it running so I can beat on it.

You can still get the ignition parts from a Honda dealer. Put a new plug in and take a points file and clean them up, if you have not already. I'd try points and condenser first, then coil. Also flywheel pullers are available from Motion Pro. I had one that was sitting for 10 years and cleaned the points and it fired up. Check out our Adult XR race

Thats great to know! The bike looks good. It has been owned by the same guy since he learned to ride it when it was new. Probably been sitting for 15 years at least. I bought my KX 250 from him and the ol XR 80 was in his garage. I asked about it and he gave it to me.

That race is cool! I have also been considering a new XR50 to play with. The place near me has a 50 track. Looks like a blast!

Ok so I now know it does get a spark but it is intermittent. I would say one out of every ten kicks it gets a spark. I cleaned the points and plug. I have to order a flywheel puller so I can't replace the points until then. Does the fact that the spark is intermittent narrow it down any?

Hmmm? I'd clean up any connections and make sure you have a good ground and set the points. Does it start at all? I've worked on quit a few old Honda thumper and once I get the bike back to the right adjustments (points, valves, carb, etc) they seem to run fine.

I worked on it some last night. I cleaned the plug wire connector. Good spark now. The clutch doesn't work so thats the next step. If you pull the clutch lever it moves but the clutch doesn't do anything. I yanked the motor last night. I jsut need to get a BIG phillips screwdriver to get those screws out of the side cover. Stupid in my opinion to use screws and not bolts or allen head.
