Amzoil

A amzoil dealer came to one of our dirt bike meetings and stated that Mobil-1 was not a true synthetic oil. He stated that it was a base 3 oil ( something like that ) and amzoil was a base 4 oil. Is that true? I did buy five quarts of the stuff. I use Mobil-1 most of the time.

I've used Mobil-1 MX2T for 2 years and really liked it. It was getting harder and harder to find so I switched to Amsoil 2000 and really like it more than Mobil-1.
I found a website where you can order Amsoil at dealer cost prices.

both oils are good. I just did a top end and everything was as clean as a whistle. I just wondered if Mobil 1 was a true synthetic oil.

It is as much a synthetic oil as amsoil. Both are formulated from synthetic base stocks and have other ingredients added to the package.
Amsoil salesmen are masters of their art. They will tell you what is needed to make the sale.
