Socks - anyone got any that they like?

I have a pair of Thor Coolmax (I think) socks which were great in all temperatures but my big toes killed them kind of fast. Anything durable out there that wicks sweat and drys quickly?

I do. Unfortunately out of the 8 or so pairs of socks I own, I only really like 2 that have been durable and have no idea what kind they are or where I got them

Patagonia medium weight hiking socks. Get em at an outdoor supply store. Great for motocross boots or even ski boots if you use a liner as well. Wick the moisture away really well and last forever. Not sure if that's good when it comes to socks..........

DO NOT buy the Moose socks. Thin material, and they tore from just pulling them up the SECOND time I wore them.



I could understand if they were $2 socks, but for what they charge, I was expecting a quality sock designed for the environment and rigors of off-road riding. I hate it when junk merchandise is passed off as a "premium" product.

YEA... Ive donated a few pair to the campfire in the past. They were so nasty that they were about to get up and walk away on there own. You know they are getting bad when they come outta the washing machine smelling as bad as they went in AND all your other gear comes outta the wash smelling like your socks. NASTY!

second on the FOX socks. I love them. they last me a long time too. this might sound gross, but clip your toe nails pretty short. it's usually the nail that wears the sock out.

RS Taichi. No, it's not a new form of martial arts. Just the best MX socks I've worn to date. They are very comfortable, breathe well and are great for knee brace wearers, as they come up a few inches above the knee. At $19.95/pair, they aren't the cheapest, but I don't wear my Fox, Moose, Thor or Alpinestars socks anymore.

Anybody need some funky used socks?

I agree. Hiking socks are great (and usually cheaper than motox socks). Columbia makes some heavy duty socks that have lasted me quite a while. It's worth it to buy a pair and try them out for a few rides. Soccer socks might be a good one to try, too. They come higher up on the calf than hiking socks do. Try taking a walk through the sock department at your local sporting goods store and see what they have available. Happy shopping.

Oh yeah and keep those nails clipped!

Regular athletic socks, about calf high, and a pair of ankle length socks over that.
