Who uses what? Oversized or standard size bars?

I recently changed to pro-taper, but only 'cos I got a pro-taper t-clamp off e-bay really cheap, waited for ages to find cheap bars but didn't so had to buy some full price. The main advantage for me is that the t-clamp has 2 positions, and lets me put the bars further forward. The disadvantage is that you can choose to have access to the air bleed screw or clickers, but not both. ( On 2000 RM ). Also with the forward position the there isn't room for the cables, so the no. plate has to have an extension. The plastic middle out of a fax roll does this job.

I use the Renthal Fat Bar RC bend. It was higher and flatter than the stock KTM bar.

I have three bikes and they all have oversixe bars. One TAG, one ProTaper, one Renthal Twinwalls. The best of the three you ask
....Easy call.....The Twinwalls are the best oversize bar on the market

I went for standard size (aluminum), then cut em down to fit between the trees.

Applied 1 1/8 bars. I got them so my GPR would fit easier. I had7/8 Renthals before that and never bent them.

After bending 3 sets of Renthal 7/8s bars, I went to the Tag T2 bars. I actually purchased the Tag Privateer Kit. Which comes w/the upper triple clamp, bars, grips, and bar pad. It was actually a great buy. I have also added the "T-Bone" clamp too. So now I can't possibly twist those bars out of shape. So far I have been very pleased w/them, and they seem so much stronger than the standard size bars. Also w/out that crossbar I can't bend that anymore either!

second set of Pro Taper Doug Henry bend

All 3 bikes have Pro-Tapers sitting on Emig clamps

I use 1 1/8" Moose Burleson bars and their bar adapters. They are 30" or 31" wide don't remember and I didn't cut them down any farther. Have not bent them so far. These were probably made by someone else and branded by Moose. They look a lot like protapers.

Standard 7/8" Renthals have never let me down.

Standard stock 7/8" bars.
Trying out some fancy new bars this weekend tho!

I had renthal 7/8th that cam estock on my CRf so now i am running Tag Metals T2. I've ridden with these for two years no problem.

I found a pro-taper bar at my local track and they look as if someone went over and landed upside down? They are heavy, way heavier than the renthals I put on my previous bikes.

I just made the switch to Renthal Fatbars in the RC bend. Haven't ridden with them yet but they feel good in my garage.

I bent my new(ish) pro-tapers yesterday. If they'd been my old standard bars replacement cost would be less than half. Still, just bad luck I 'spose, the last time I bent any bars was ages ago, and I'm sure that the pro-tapers could withstand a much bigger impact than ordinary ones. I think I'll try renthal fat bars now, they seem very similar and are cheaper.

Had tapers but bent my emig clamp bolt so I've been using renthals since. They seem to withstand every crash I throw at them

Went through two sets of Tag T2s (Mini Hi bend), but I'm not complaining--they took a LOT of abuse before giving up the ghost. I have a set of Pro Taper Hawkins High bend bars coming Friday.
BTW the Mini Hi, similar to a Hawkins High or Burleson bend in other brands, is a great woods bar--narrow and tall. I love it but many who ride my bike think it's weird.

renthal fat bars rc bend, least pull back with decent height great for motocross help keep my elbows up and ready to attack.....

I just switched over from the Pro-Taper, to the Renthal Twinwall RC bend. I have the 3/4 in risers and WOW! are my elbows up
The risers seem to help when conering, and while I'm standing up. It feels like I'm not as cramped. My old Pro-Tapers offset the 3/4 risers, so I never felt their effect until now.

Bike came with Renthal 7/8" and they work great. Next bike will be an '04 or '05 KTM 300exc and of course will come stock with the sweet fatbars.

Oh, and my son's used KX100 came with some Azonics twinwalls on it that looked really trick and felt nice. Problem was no company makes handguards to fit them. They are fatter in the fat section so the inner clamps don't work and have strange sized ends that neither the steel or aluminum adapters work in. The only real option was to use the tripleclamp mounts, but they only make those for 125/250s, not the smaller bikes. The Azonics would be cool for MX but not offroad. Something to think about when you're buying bars...

I keep buying cheap Moose bars (7/8 steel) and bending them..... *sigh*... but at $10 a pair it will be quite a while before I've made up for the price of oversize bars, and clamps, and etc.....
I bent a pair again this weekend.... I am giving some very serious thought to oversized....

If you get Pro Taper Bars you will be
because i haven't bent mine yet. and i reck hard a lot since i do cross country racing.

I run what comes with the bike. Most I've had were equipped with the Renthal 7/8. Only bent one handlebar in the last 12 or so years. Current bike has Pro Tapers. A great bar but needs special clamps for bark busters. Other than that I have no complaints about either.
Oh, and I drink like a sailor.

I didn't vote. I've got one of each. Bought them that way and can't tell a difference.
