Go to the newsagent get yourtself the latest copy of VMX magazine. Anyone who has anything to do with restoring old MXer's from Australia to the US to Europe will be in there. As a suggestion if no aftermarket manufacturers have a exhaust system currently available talk to Geoff Morris Concepts (GMC) he'll biuld you one if he doesn't have them already. Again he advertisers in VMX.....Id give you an adress but I dont have a copy handy....
PS....its a bloody good read too.

http://www.worksperformance.com/ for the shocks, for a little less pricey option, http://www.progressivesuspension.com/. Circle F (they are on the web, sorry dont have the addy) might be able to help you with the pipe, you might try DG as well. Jim

Try this site out for your RM stuff. http://www.rageracing.com/Parts/Suzuki/web.htm
Lynn Shoup owns Rage Racing and it's mainly a Maico parts site, but they have some nice RM stuff too and they offer online ordering. Please tell Lynn that Terry L. sent you. Good luck!

Hi Terry, thanks for another excellent web page...and i will inform the shop that you advised me to check em out
Can you tell me how good the Works Performance shocks perform??? recommended???
Cheers

I don't have any personal experience with Works Performance shocks, but I've heard good things about them from other Maico guys. They say Progressive shocks are ok, but are not rebuildable; Works performance shocks work better and are rebuildable, but cost a little more. I've heard that for the ultimate performance, you should go with Ohlins. They will cost quite a bit more, but everybodys says they are worth every penny. I guess it just depends on what you want to spend. I hope this helps!

Try these two sites:

http://www.pro-formracing.com/Suzuki.html This link takes you to Pro-Form Racing pipes for your Suzuki. I use their pipe and silencer on my Honda CR250R 1979. Very happy.
Shocks; Ohlins are best. Works Performance more affordable and I can personally recommend them. Don't waste your money buying 2nd-hand and then having to spend more than new on a rebuild.
http://www.alphalink.com.au/~asg/index.htm. You have already got two great US-based links, but these guys are the wizards of things Suzuki down under in Australia. Good preparation tips.

Cheers Guys,
I now have a serious collection of good sites to call on when i get serious into the rebuild, which should only be a few months away.
What i do need is the chain guide and rollers??? I have read that the RM is notorious for eating out the casing due to chain alignment???? The casing on my RM is pretty good but has been eatin away a little. Is there any way that you blokes have overcome this????
Defiently looking at Works for the shocks,,,,mind you did any one see the Ohlins RM400 shock that were listed on ****???? i missed out due to the time difference and kicking myself afterwards at the price they went for. US $334 i think
Cheers

A good source of parts can be found at BikeBandit com. I've ordered twice from them and they have come through for me both times.
As for the chain defence guards and guides, I cut off the ears on my RM400N swingarm for the top guide and bought a RM400T (1980) chain defence guard to replace it with. You will have to drill and tap the new screw holes plus cut a small slot into the plastic guard but it works great. It's cheaper than the N too. Most of the N parts seem to be discountinued anyway. Suzuki still has most of the T parts though and the guide and tensioner appear to be the same.
Here's one for the rumor mill, there may be a new reproduction gas tank on the market for the 250/400N's and T's by November.

Who do you think will be producing these tanks Britt?????
I had a "T" model chain guide but want to have the bike as original as possible and the hardest part seems to be the chain guides and rollers. Im still keeping an eye out on ****, amazing what comes around there if you wait long enough.

Clarke Mfg. will be producing them. Work on it has already begun but November is a guess. You can still get some of the parts you need from Suzuki or Bike Bandit com. I went with the T chain defence on my N because one of the ears for my top roller guide broke off. It caused a lot of damage to the swingarm and rear wheel. I had to drill and tap new holes in the swing arm and slot the guard to fit the gusset. works great.
