Frame looks good, now where did you put that motor?

Posted by: ScottS

Yeah it is killing me I want to stick the motor in- but it has been disassociated into its component elements and so far it has not re-assembled itself.

What tank are you using?

Wayne

The Triumph guys are going to hate you.

Wayne- that SL is/was a cool bike

I think the CL will handle the triumphs, its the BSA's and the Greeves i am worried about

Don't have the "real motor yet, but wanted to put it together so we put in another CL450 motor that we had- not as nicely polished up and rebuilt but allowed us to put everything together.

Dropped the motor in the frame, put the carbs, manifolds and throttle cables on ( hefty springs in two Mikunis) Put the # plates on, exhaust, battery box and battery etc etc lots of little details

Put it on the scales- oof ! 320 lbs ! But this motor still has the electric start and the generator - with the new motor we should be closer to 300 lbs,. That's how much my KTM 620 weighs so i am no stranger to that - but this bike is so small and low- how can it be so heavy ?

At least the weight is low. Fork springs are way off but shock springs are surprisingly close.

Bike is even more beautiful than I thought , can't wait to get the real motor in. The substitute motor, I am not going to bother to get it running as the new motor is close.

I took a lots of pics will try to post when they are developed

This is not the real motor- this one still has a charging system and a starter - but it will have to do until the real one is finished

Posted by: ScottS

:

Will need stiffer front springs- no big deal - eveything else went together real nice

Posted by: ScottS

Not crazy about rear # plates- but we did manage to take 100lbs off teh stock CL450

It is still heavy though

Posted by: ScottS

Yes I am happy. Can't wait to ride it- need chain though,

Posted by: ScottS

Never know there was a humongous twin under there- except for the two pipes !

Posted by: ScottS

Yes there is a tach- we have no idea about gearing, made an educated guess, but will use the tach to determine if we are right or not- ideally would like to leave it in 3rd gear and cruise
