hey i can get a 1992 kx500 he said it runs but its getting soft on him looks great.how much would you go on it?i figure around 240 to rebuild so 800 bucks would be good yea?

I'd figure a good looking '92 KX5 as a $1200 to $1300 bike. Figure a motor rebuild in there, I'd probably offer him $900 and if he countered at $950, I'd give him the money. If you get it for $800 you are getting a great deal, so long as you don't have to rebuild the rear shock, straighten frame, replace plastics and do the front forks at the same time as the engine.

I'b buy it for $800-$1,000 even if it needed a new piston to freshen it up.
Have you rode a KX500?, these bikes fly if you can get them to hookup and good luck keeping the front wheel on the ground.
I've got an 87 KX500 I'll be rebuilding this winter that needs a lot of work but it'll be worth it in the end. I'll also be having a decompression button installed in the head, checkout kxriders website for the info on it. After having it installed the bike is supposed to be as easy to start as a 125, you're going to want one because these bike are animals to kick.
