Check the Coil/exciter/spark plug cap, it is one unit. they have been known to fail. I posted alot about it over at TT. If the bike overheated they crack, some just fail and leak. Otherwise it could be the stator or a shorted out kill button. Someone said the kill button wires are tyraped to tight and they wear thru shorting out the ignition. Check that first. You can unplug the kill switch circuit under the headlamp
