80 going on to 125 or 250?

First post here,

I went from a nothing to a RM125 that I got at chistmas. Its a 94. I really didnt have any problems riding it (I'm six feet tall, tho), but I had rode very few other dirtbikes before. I know a kid who is 5' 4" and rides a 125 with no problems, and he stepped up from a lawnmower powered minibike and a really old 100. I know you have decided 125 so I would say prob a RM, or maybe a KTM, they make huge power, but they dont have great suspension.

go for the 250, it will be hard at first but youll love it after.

He is 5'3 and 115 lbs! a 250 would own him... he needs a 125. the 250 would put him on his back so quick he woulnd know what happened.

dont listen to CR250... a 250 would kill you. you wuouldnt even be able to touch the ground.

many riders may consider the 125's to have little low end but most of them are of average weight 170-200 lbs. With your weight of only 115 lbs., a 125 is going to perform much better. You should check into lowering the bike as much as you can because I'm 5'-8" with a seat ht of 36" kdx200 and I'm tippy toed on it. The 125's are like 37" and you're 5'-3". Do the math. I'll say it again, the kx100 was built for your size and wt. Don't mean to be a smart :moon: ,but with a seat ht of 37" and you at 5'-3", hope you don't plan on stopping much :yikes:

Thanks for all the advice guys. How would I go along with lowering the seat height? I don't think I will have to make any major changes like shave the seat foam since my 80 seat height is 34 inches and the RM 125 seat height is only 4 inches higher than that and I could handle a 4 inch rise. I hope I don't get bored of the power too quick. The one thing I hate is that I like to go fast but everything that goes fast is too big for me

kouba links for the rear suspension links. Some refer to them as dog bones because of their shape. Slide the forks up in the triple clamps.

rmracer, Once you get the 125, come back on here and do searches on how to give 2strokes more low end. There are mods you can do..including gearing changes, weighted flywheels, etc that can make 2strokes gain more grunt more down low...sometimes without a lot of effect on the top end.
