Okie tried it (at my request) but there wasn't enough interest. So now I just sit on the Hodaka in my dining room and talk to myself about old bikes

You mean the Hodaka doesn't answer you?

My '73 CZ talks to me. Of course it has to have it a few drinks before it loosens up. Kinda shy with that Czech accent I suppose.

I'm sure it's nothing that liberal doses of Vodka can't cure

How long ago was that?
Maybe (now that DRN has more members) it would be a good idea to try again?
Although, what would be the cutoff date (model year) for vintage?
(wondering if my '79 YZ400 would make it.)

Hey OnAny, I see you live in Farmington. I heard that they have vintage classes at Aztec Raceway or somewhere in Aztec. Is that true? I've been wanting to start vintage mx and I'd like to get started close to home before I do the AHRMA stuff.

Uh Oh, looks like we've started a vintage forum...

Nice to hear from some OTHER vintage folks. A few vintage races are held at the VDR track in Berthoud each year. I have an old Bultaco (1974 360 Frontera) and a couple of mid 80's era twin shock Huskies. I ride them more often than my newer bike, a 1998 Husqvarna wr360. I have run the 84 Husky's at our local Hare and Hound series with the new bikes. (1984 AE500). Hope to compete in the Sernior class MX this year with a '84 Husky as well as what ever Vintage classes are around. My kids all race so this is for something to do while I support their efforts. There are several folks I talk to in this area who are interested in those oldie but goldie machines. Bet statistically there is a reason for a forum in one of these web sites. There is a husqvarna vintage at "www.intrepid.net" and there also is a "www.vintagecycles.net" also Bultaco places like "www.hughsbultaco.com". Any way be interested in any others you folks find.

VintageDirt, from "DukeCity" eh?
Guess we're almost neighbors? LOL
Yes, Aztec does have a vintage MX class.
It's not exactly huge yet.
The weekend i saw it, there were only 6 or 7 bikes out there.
But great fun to watch!

It's a fun track to ride, but geared more towards modern machines.
There are plenty of other 'trails'/oilfield roads to ride on there though.
Plus the 'old' Aztec track (about a mile from the new one) is a bit more vintage friendly.

Go visit the VMX (vintage mx and dirt bike quarterly) web site at www.vmx-mag.com.

Their Links page has about 50 active vintage bike web sites and adds more as they're discovered.
