Hey everyone ive been watchin some helmet cam vids lately of people riding 2 stroke 125's and 250's and ive noticed that alot of people dont use the clutch goin up through the gears.

im wondering how you should change gears on a 2 stroke motocross bike?

mines is a 1990 RM250

thanks

I'd guess if you're into rebuilding transmissions or have a personal mechanic that does, it's not an issue. If not I'd use my clutch. JMHO.

When riding aggressively the clutch merely "relieves" the pressure driving the friction plates and this is just enough to allow "safe" gear changes. You don't have to pull the lever all the way against the hand grip to do it either. I've an old ('82) RM and I just "middle finger" the clutch when riding and have no problem at all. And these old bikes have horrible clutch pull, I mean hard to actuate.
